Over the course of the semester in COMS 2040, I have learned a lot about interviewing and how it will play a role in my future as a professional. Personally, interviewing has been something that has come naturally to me. I have always felt comfortable talking to others one-on-one or in group settings. I think that the interviews in this class helped me understand the importance of conducting interviews in ways that fits for different situations. Not all questions and interviews topics are the same and I was able to learn that through this course and the mock interviews that we conducted over the semester. If I was not informed of the goal and importance of an interview I feel as if there was no way for the interview to be successful. I needed to be educated on what type of interview was being held and what types of questions needed to be asked so that there was something to get out of the interview. For almost all of the interviews we conducted we had to present our findings to the class, if I was uninformed on what type of information was necessary for those presentations, I did not hold a successful interview. Preparing an interview schedule with a question sequence helped me conduct successful interviews. If I was not fully prepared for an interview then I risked not gathering enough information for the following steps after the interview. For instance, for the alumni interviewed someone that I knew which I think affected the way that the interview was conducted. I believe that the answers I got from my interviewee were a bit skewed to what I wanted to hear, I made the mistake of not interviewing a stranger to learn more about the industry I am longing to work in. The alumni interview was successful based of the circumstances, it could have been a lot more informational if I followed more of an interview schedule and plan. For the Global Tech simulation, we were arranged into groups with individuals we had not become acquainted with beforehand. Subsequently, there were no personal introductions or pre-class strategy meetings in preparation for our first class meeting on that Saturday. When the instructions were initially given and our simulation experience began, it was quickly realized, by the team that time was going to be of the essence. We immediately confronted the fact that there was no way we could watch all of the interviews provided in the simulation. After everyone had begun making mental and physical notes about the interviews we had already viewed, we collectively decided from there which interviews were going to be the most important for us to observe
I then asked him if the youth center has ever considered asking for donations to go towards their funding, and if so what came as a result? I also did not have enough information. I was nervous, so I sped up my speech. I knew this would probably happened so I should have planned for it by making my speech longer. I also should have asked more questions during the interview and I should have expanded on more of the questions that I asked. I also discovered that I needed to find a different way to end my speech. A way that would leave a lasting impression. Another thing I realized is that I had way too many words on my notecard. The notecard I was using had too much of the speech and I kept getting losing my spot in the speech. I also stayed up way to late the night before the speech. This means I was really tired when giving the speech, which made it harder to remember
There are many aspects that make up a successful interview or interrogation. An investigator does not become a skilled interviewer or interrogator over night. Training and experience are vital to becoming skilled at interviewing and interrogation. Experience is the best teacher, conducting interviews and interrogations is the only way to become more skilled. In this paper I will explain all the aspects that make up a successful interview. I will also explain the difference between an interview and an interrogation.
When we were first given this assignment I had not put much consideration into it. I thought we were to ask a couple of questions, it would all work itself out and I would be done. But this was not the case. The thought and reflection put into interview questions really surprised me. There was far more factors other than the questions you were asking, because you were also dealing with people, people who are giving you there free time, their attention and opening themselves up to you a stranger, so there were far more responsibilities then what were initially at hand.
Over the course of the semester, I feel that I have grown as a writer in many ways. When I came into the class, there were skills I had that I already excelled at. During my time in class, I have come to improve on those skills even more. Before I took this class I didn’t even realise what I was good at. This is the first class where I felt I received feedback on my writing that helped me to actually review my work in see what areas I lacked in and where I succeeded. Some of the skills I had shocked me as I didn’t think I had those capabilities in me.
MY RESPONSE: A job analysis should include in every human resource function, because it supports the business strategy, analyzes employees’ performance, and broadcasts the future developments. This practice helps to identify the needs for specific skills, and it's a useful tool for hiring, promotion, and training. This video mock interview was a great experience. The questions were based on interview questions that a company can ask you and prepared you for a real interview. This mock interview was fun to do and taught me many lessons I can do in a real interview setting. To start off, I had to prepare for this mock interview. Some things I considered when preparing was to firstly, look at the questions and briefly go over my answers for each question. After that, I had to wear my best attire and adjust my camera and lighting. Lastly, I had to remind myself with some tips when doing this interview. As I reflect on my past assessment process, I realized how much my assessments have changed over the years. In my early years, I used tests for informational recall as my assessments. I felt these were appropriate guidelines in which I needed to follow in order to substantiate a student’s grade. Every assignment or tests was given a point value and then based on the amount of points, a grade was given. Every student’s assessment was exactly the same, and the assessments did not contain any subjectivity. I felt confident in giving the grade based on a valid point system. However reflecting back, I see that I did not include any performance-based assessments or individual learning styles in my early assessment. I also did not take into consideration the individual needs of my students. My assessment approach was awful. I am embarrassed that I use to assess students in this manner.
