Interpersonal conflict is. Every relationship has conflict and determining on how the conflict is resolved or handled can make the relationship stronger or weaker. If someone is more easily to come up with a compromise rather than always getting their own way, they may have stronger relationships (Bevan and Sole, 2014). Television shows also use interpersonal conflict between their characters to find a solution or compromise in the end. Interpersonal conflict is all around us, it is how we handle that conflict that makes or breaks our relationships. Many shows use interpersonal conflict between their characters and Modern Family is one of the shows. In the show, Modern Family, a husband husband couple, Mitch and Cam had an interpersonal conflict because Cam got sick the night of a concert they had been waiting to see and Mitch still wanted to go. Mitch thought of ideas to get out of taking care of Cam and going to the concert, and in the end ended up going to the concert without Cam knowing. The …show more content…

Mitch could have clearly explained to Cam how badly he wanted to go and Cam could have clearly expressed his thoughts on the situation. They also could have come to a compromise by one maybe not getting exactly what they wanted, but a scenario where both of them were happy with the outcome (Bevan and Sole, 2014). By clearly expressing what you want with your partner and coming to a compromise will help to avoid interpersonal conflict in relationships. Interpersonal conflict happens in every relationship and knowing how to correctly resolve the conflict could save a relationship. In the episode explained, there was not a resolution. The husband did what he wanted without communicating with his husband. Effectively handling a conflict within a relation is required to build trust and to keep the relationship
