It's great you were able to locate and start an internship in ABA, and you can implement what you are learning with your work. There are great opportunities to opening your own clinic and have a diversified team of professionals that can collaborate therapy for various age group and clients. I am looking forward to learning from you, Stacy, and our classmates. I have so much to take away from this class as a newbie in this field. Best wishes in this class and future
I am currently a ABA therapist and I've been working in this field for two years. I have worked with children from ages 2 to 14 years old with different diagnoses. Most of my clients are autistic but I've worked with children with Down syndrome, ADD, ADHD, ODD, OCD, and developmental delay. I have opportunities to reinforce positive behaviors and help extinguish negative behaviors. I also am able to engage in incidental teachings, run knowledge based programs, and interactions using verbal and non verbal communication. My career plan is to become certified as a BCBA and become a BSC. As a BSC I will be able to help many more children on a high scale.
For the past few decades, there have been ongoing discussions involving the preferred educational level for nurses entering the field of healthcare. Two routes can be taken to entering the field: one can finish a two-year program and obtain their associate or add two years and get their baccalaureate instead. There are differences, albeit minor ones, between nurses prepared at the associate degree level versus those prepared at the baccalaureate level. However, an increase in technological advances in nursing field, and a higher demand for patient care has recently sparked the discussion of whether or not it is beneficial for nurses to further their education and obtain a baccalaureate degree or even a master’s degree as the case may be.
After over 15 years of working as a CNA and Caregiver, I decided that I wanted to continue my education in the medical field. In 2013 I took the first step towards gaining a better future with more experience as a medical professional. I enrolled into a Medical Assistant program at IBMC college of Longmont. It has been a long road and I am almost to the finish line having gained essential skills needed to move further into my career. It has been a grueling and eye opening experience for me being an adult learner returning back to school at 33 years of age. I persevered through these pass two years with courage and determination, never letting my short comings get the best of me. As I approach the end of my journey with IBMC I have realized that I have a passion for helping those persons who
Your final report should be a complete report of your internship experiences under the title “How I Evaluate Myself as a Future Criminal Justice Worker,” and may not exceed five typed pages. Describe the extent to which the theoretical knowledge included your course work at the College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University contributed to your field practice experience during your internship. Cite at least two SHSU courses. Show what you have learned, indicate how your ideas have changed or been supported, and why. List your strengths and weaknesses and grade yourself on job performance.
As I have found often in my work of volunteering, the influence, the response seen, the positive emotion not in just the individuals I had the opportunity to work with, but within myself is one of the many reasons what has lead me to occupational therapy. From that first encounter, I found my inspiration and the passion I want to indulge in for years to come. I want to be that person who helps individuals to regain wellness and continuity of a healthy, long-lasting life in the same way that occupational therapist enabled my grandfather. Being admitted into this program at Salem State University would allow me the opportunity to reach my goals and be a part of a rewarding profession, providing individuals with the tools they need to excel and achieve their highest
An Administrative Assistant is a broad job category that describes an individual who provides various kinds of administrative support to people and groups in business enterprises.
Even though the salary is livable and path of college is straightforward, this career is worthwhile simply because I would be helping people overcome obstacles and improve their quality of life. I aspire to make a difference in someone’s life, and recreational therapy allows me to do that every day for a living. This research project has opened my eyes and lead me to a career that I didn’t know about before, but now seems like a perfect fit for me. It is reassuring to know that I can make a good choice on such a big decision making time of my life. Throughout the rest of my high school journey and as I transition into college, I hope that I continue to take the steps needed pursue a career as Recreational
I came into this class not really knowing any more then people can get insurance and money for food from the human service department. My eyes were definitely opened those first couple weeks of class. I have realized that there is so much more that a human services worker can do. I also learned that most people who use the services are truly desperate and need help. I have learned a lot about seeing the big picture and not just what’s in front of me.
enjoyed meeting you and learning more about the job and school district. It was interesting to hear about the job responsibilities and those that I would be working with.
To state that I am to a great degree intrigued by being part of your association, as the following Masters level understudy, would be an understatement. This Administrative Residency Program opportunity is such an immense blessing. My encased resume demonstrates my ability to provide efficient customer service and communicate clearly and objectively both verbally and in writing. Through my experience I am able to prioritize work and exercise independent judgment, wisdom, common sense, and initiative, all while thoroughly carrying out oral and written instructions with minimum supervision. Furthermore, my ability to prioritize and schedule workload allows me to ensure completion of assignments when faced with deadlines and to accommodate to
Currently, I have 3 clients, one with Dravet Syndrome, one with ASD and one with ADHD, not to mention one I sub for who is almost with an MR diagnosis that has ASD. Yep, this is a lot of information on what I am currently doing, yet I love the idea of going into early intervention developmental therapy, but I have found that people need help at home where there is a need for more structure to help their children be more complying because of an unstructured environment, in which case that is where I come in. I am pursuing my RBT license and believe I will be able to do what I have done for over the past 5 years, helping
My internship at 6abc has been a dream come true. For me brushing elbows with a famous journalist like Jim Gardner means more than meeting a famous movie star. The atmosphere in the building is something indescribable and it changes every day, every hour to be precise. When news changes, the atmosphere changes. I have honestly dreamed of working at 6abc since I first realized I wanted to be a broadcaster. Their sense of family on television really grabbed me and I always knew that this was the place I wanted to work. Well I got here, but for only three short months, and it breaks my heart to know that I have to leave. There have been some ups and downs during my experience in the Creative Services department, but I gained a better understanding
Before the internship, I thought judges were of course humans, but I was hoping they were nice. I thought it was going to be a bit intimidating, but I knew I looked up and aspired their profession. It was like the day I was going to meet my judge I was so nervous, yet I looked forward to it. I remember I was surprised different Judges would run their courtrooms differently. I thought they would kind of have a similar system for things, which they sort of do, but not completely. Generally speaking, the Judges are great individuals and are very unique. Most of the Judges have lived pretty interesting lives and seem to enjoy their jobs. The Judges seem to be very knowledgeable, and very considerate of the Jury, court reporters, and their clerks. The judges of course seem neutral when in front of the jury as expected. For example, Judge Lippitt, does not allow anytime to speak over each other in her court room she is always saying that they have to be respectful there is a human being recording this, referring to the court reporter. Then, she is very considerate of the Jury and their time, she will tell them the trial is longer at times to make them happy if it ends early. Further, Judge Lippitt really cares about the jury instructions and that they are as neutral as possible. Something I have learned from Judge Lippitt, is that you have to be very careful as a judge to notice when attorney’s are acting a little suspicious. Another very significant lesson I have learned from Judge Lippitt is that preparedness and awareness is really important.
Working in this community has taught me things about myself I did not know I can accomplish as well as different mental health diagnoses. I have always wanted to work in a setting with older adults but I could not pin point exactly what I wanted to specialize in. My experience of this summer working with older adults who have dementia is a one in a life time experience. My development of knowledge has expanded beyond my measures with the experience I have experienced within this community.
