Internet has done more harm than good.
The Internet is undoubtedly the most crucial technology of the modern world. It increases technology advancement and improve communication and transportation. The Internet is a global computer network providing a variety of information and communication services, consisting of organized networks using standard communication rules. While people think of the Internet as a good source of getting knowledge, there are many disadvantages associated to it.
One of the main harmful effects of the Internet is its abusive uses. Internet promotes the identity theft and destroys valuable documents of public information through spam messages and viruses. Every year due to the Internet insecurity, many people lose their identity. Furthermore, another weakness of Internet is the preying and exploitation of people especially children by deviants using this medium to their advantage. Internet helps bad people to contact children without giving a name and request to meet them. Some time they blackmail and try to sexually abuse young ladies.
In addition, the Internet has negatively affected the daily lives of users in many ways. Carr explains how the internet can distract us making it harder to focus on tasks. He explains how processing information has become harder. Notifications, ads, popups can make it difficult if you are trying to read an article or book (Carr 57). The internet has become the center of our attention (Carr 57). Carr is explaining how this is the reason why we are struggling to comprehend a certain piece of information. He adds in his article that scientists, researchers and educators have also noticed the difference in concentration. And in further detail, he explains that we fail to see the important information, thus affecting cognition. He says that the information we gather is not valuable unless we know the meaning behind it. Carr concludes with explaining that the more the internet evolves the less valuable information is to
The internet has become a universal tool for people to acquire loads of information from a number of reliable sources in a matter of milliseconds. Thanks to popular search engines such as Bing and Google it has formulated a sense of information optimization during a time in which the speed in which you gather information is almost as important as the quality of information itself. Books have almost become a thing of the past as people have instead relied on the internet to read and gather information. New York Times bestseller and author of 'What The Internet Is Doing To Our Brains: The Shallows, Nicholas Carr addresses his argument that while the internet
Wikipedia is a credible source When people and school kids are writing papers on a daily basis they struggle about whether Wikipedia is a credible source or not. Along with rather they should cite it. It is a good source because it has many different points of views from many different people. The next reason is that it’s a good place to start the research.
The Internet has become a key ingredient of strenuous and busy lifestyle. ‘Internet’ has become the central-hub for communication, explorations, connecting with people or for official purposes. Resultantly, Internet growth has led to a plethora of new developments, such as decreased margins for companies as consumers turn more and more to the internet to buy goods and demand the best prices.
In his article, “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” Nicholas Carr, a member of Encyclopedia Britannica’s editorial board of advisors, argues that the Internet has affected human life more than people know. People have strayed from reading physical books and converted to online books and articles. According to Carr, this means that people have shorter attention spans because articles tend to be shorter and notifications, on computers or phones, can distract the reader from what they are reading. Carr claims that technology has made critical thinking and other activities more difficult than it has ever been before.

When it comes to Wikipedia, most of us will agree that Wikipedia has one of the most largest and popular general reference work on the Internet. Where this agreement ends, however, is on the spectrum of obtaining believable articles and sources through Wikipedia. Where some people are convinced that it is completely ok to do the majority of their research through Wikipedia. Where other people support it because they can edit anything on the website and create new articles which comes from an unreliable source. Today i’m going to argue the benefits of Wikipedia and provide for the modern day person.
The use of the Internet has exploded in the past few decades, and the age of the user is swiftly declining as well (Greenfield, Patricia, and Zheng Yan). “The spread of Internet access has been described as nine times faster than that of radio, four times faster than the personal computer, and three times faster than television” (Shields, Margie, and Behrman 5). The internet is full of many things that could make us smarter. However, the internet is full of websites, games, even photos that could very likely have a negative effect on children and their behaviors. Also their education, speech could become affected and they could start doing badly in school or start cursing at a young age. The Internet has revolutionized the computer and communications world like nothing before. The Internet enables communication and transmission of data between computers at different locations. The Internet is a computer application that connects tens of thousands of interconnected computer networks that include 1.7 million host computers around the world. The basis of connecting all these computers together is by the use of ordinary telephone wires. Users are then directly joined to other computer users at there own will for a small connection fee per month. The connection conveniently includes unlimited access to over a million web sites twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. There are many reasons why the Internet is important these reasons include: The net adapts to damage and error, data travels at 2/3 the speed of light on copper and fiber, the internet provides the same functionality to everyone, the net is the fastest growing technology ever, the net promotes freedom of speech, the net is digital, and can correct errors. Connecting to the Internet cost the taxpayer little or nothing, since each node was independent, and had to handle its own financing and its own technical requirements.
