Internet Gambling
Why is gambling such a problem on the Internet? There are plenty of reasons and you are going to hear all of them throughout this research paper. There are three main types of Internet gambling. There is the sports book, there are casinos and the lotto, and last but not least there is horseracing. Throughout this paper I will explain the Laws against online gambling. Why people can get around the laws, and the style of gambling and how to do it. I think that online gambling is fine the only person you could hurt is yourself.
First I will explain the Horseracing betting online. I don’t know whether you have been to the horse tracks before. It is rather simple you pick one to three horses that you would like to bet. The hard part is when you actually go to the track you have to learn the slang terms for the bets. You have to say the track name and the money you want to bet then the horse or horses. With online horse betting you just have to enter it in on the computer. You can even watch a race on the Internet, its not like watching television, but you find out what horses win place and show. That’s what really matters anyway. There is also a new form of horse gambling its on www.lousianadowns.com it is a simulated horse race every month. You have to go to the web site and fill out some info. You design your own horse, by choosing the color the name and, jockey. You pay $29.95 per month. You have to get on the website every day to feed the horse and train him. Then twice a month, your horse will race a simulated race and if it comes in win, place, or show, you will win money (4). This form of online gambling is my favorite.
My second form of online gambling is the casinos and lotteries for online gambling. These are everywhere. You can play everything that you can play in the actual casino. For example Black Jack, roulette, poker, slots, craps, and keno (3) are available online. Black jack is a game where you try to beat the dealer. Poker is a game where you can play either way you can play where you beat the dealer, or you can play where your betting against other players. Slot machines are what I like to call a gamblers game for somebody that doesn’t know how to gamble. All you really do is pull the lever and hope to win. Craps is where you put your money down roll the dice then try to roll that number again before...

...never stop. Some people believe that gambling is a natural need, and that it teaches people to take risk every once and a while (2). The main problems with online or any gambling is that people don’t take it seriously and some take it very seriously and some times ends up in death or beatings once one thing illegal happens then there are more to follow. It’s hard to find a person how did it because it was normally hidden because it was an illegal activity. Throughout this piece I described the three main types the laws that try to prevent online gambling and the ways around it. I myself love to gamble. I really don’t do it over the Internet, I prefer to go the site and gamble. Maybe that is my way of saving money some times, the Internet seems to easy to just not really care about or really realize what they where doing with there money. Like I said before it’s your money, as long as you have it, do what you want with it.

This essay will examine key aspects of the recent implementation of the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) 2011, which is the largest overhaul in Consumer Law in Australia in the past twenty five years. The ACL replaces 20 existing State and Territory laws into one national law , the legislation was enacted in two main parts as Schedule 2 of the renamed Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth) (TPA) - Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) (CCA) . Aforementioned this essay it will outline the key benefits of the implementation of the act. Furthermore it will critique the Act, whilst exploring the objectives of the legislation.
Even though consumers have great protection rights in Australian Customer Law, they have to understand that this law is designed to provide consumers and sellers a fair go. Therefore, consumers also have to be aware that they will not be protected if they are careless and make unreasonable demands.
Advertising of gambling can be very harmful and should be totally eliminated because for adolescents it can be the start of a lifetime struggle with addiction and for gamblers it can be a constant reminder and a trigger for them to promote them to gamble more. This can result in people ruining their lifestyle, financial status and relationships. It is strongly recommended that all advertisements of gambling are completely removed.
While there are lots of authors who are argued in favour of this codification since two centuries, practitioners and business in the English community had always been afraid about this idea. To understand the context of this debate, I will, first, briefly explain what do we generally mean by the term ‘codification’. Then, I’ll take few points about the origins of English commercial law and describe its modern definition. Finally, I will outline the main arguments why I am against the proposition of a commercial
“Problem gambling, also known as gambling addiction or compulsive gambling, is defined as the urge to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop” (Northstar Problem Gambling Alliance 2015). Karen Frazier states, nearly 3 percent or 6 million adults and 500,000 teens meet the criteria for problem gambling (Frazier, 2015). Legalized Gambling has many positive aspects, and it should be noted that though a large number of citizens are considered “problem gamblers,” the majority of the population gambles causally and in moderation.
Competition law in the European Union has developed from being an uncertain preoccupation of a few economists, lawyers and officials to one of the leading competition law system in the globe. Nonetheless, in agreement with most commentators, there are inherent flaws within the EU Commission’s procedures. This paper aims to provide an account of concerns in the current system, drawing comments from scholars and EU officials in order to demonstrate both benefits and shortcomings of the system. An overview of the legal and policy debate of the current EU Competition enforcement will be presented as the introduction. Policy concerns such as prosecutorial bias and self-incrimination in enforcement powers will be the main subjects for the purpose of this paper, followed by analysis of the EU commission structure, in particular checks and balances and the hearing process, both of which have been claimed being incompatible with the ECHR. A comparison with the US Antitrust system will also be paralleled through out this essay in order to demonstrate a clearer examination. This essay will conclude with the Commission’s flaws that have effected on the upcoming UK competition law reforms.
According to Aristotle’s virtue ethics, online gambling can promote happiness and encourage good character if used properly. It is important to note however that not all forms of online gambling are virtuous. For instance, although someone gambling small increments of money online once or twice a week can be classified as virtuous; someone who gambles excessive amounts of
The adrenaline-rushing feeling of gambling offers people the idea that opportunity lies within their hands. Unfortunately, there are far too many consequences to gambling to even begin to count. To win you must play, and to win big you must play big. As more gamblers can recall their losses rather than their winnings, gamblers are often dealt with poor hands and must play the risky game to stay alive. Even though gambling has so many faults, some still fall under its corruptions because of gambling’s deceiving fallacies.
The basic purpose of UCTA 1977 is to restrict the extent to which liability in a contract can be excluded for breach of contract and negligence, largely by reference to a reasonableness requirement, but in some cases by a specific prohibition.
Marketing is a system of business activates designed to plan, price, promote and distribute want-satisfying products, services and ideas to customers in order to achieve business objectives. Consumer law protects consumer’s rights in the marketplace as well as fair trading, competition and accurate information. On the other hand, ethical aspects of marketing are about making marketing decisions that are morally right. However, consumer law and ethical aspects of marketing have a lot of advantages and disadvantages in the marketplace, which impacts business 's sales and growth like it happened to: Harvey Norman, Nurofen, apple, etc.
Both the common law and the statutory law have recognized the weaker position of consumers. It is well established an exclusion clause will be valid and enforceable only if it is incorporated in the contract, use clear wordings and does not contravene statutory limits. In order to limit the unfairness resulting from exclusion clauses, the courts have developed certain principles such as the doctrine of non est factum in signature cases, ‘red ink-red hand’ principle in relation to ‘onerous or unusual’ terms, contra proferentem rule when interpreting ambiguous exclusion clauses and ‘fundamental breach’ principle.

Gambling addiction is an issue found in numerous areas where gambling is legal. People who are addicted to gambling, also know as problem gamblers, face many health risks including depression, suicidal thoughts, loss of sleep, loss of appetite, migraine and anxiety in addition to marriage breakdown, problems at work and bankruptcy (9). About 2 percent of adults are thought to be problem gamblers (1). In today’s society this costly addiction is not often considered to be a common problem among those who gamble. Only a small amount of states in the U.S. give enough attention toward this rising problem of people that are sometimes even willing to commit crimes just to aid their addiction. In the past our government has sought out a few solutions that help those who have developed an addiction and prevent a further increase in the number of people becoming addicted. Personally, my outlook on the problem is that it needs a better solution. I think that a higher funding to gambling addiction clinics, more ordinance and restriction laws, and more prevention and awareness programs should bee brought into consideration in order to lower the amount of people who become addict to gambling.

There is a major issue to be dealt with, which is spreading with little regulatory oversight and no effective screens against participation by the young and the vulnerable. Internet gambling represents one of the fastest growing segments of online activity with more than seven hundred web sites now providing users the opportunity to wager everything from casino games to sporting events. According to internet research firms, the industry will pull in $1.5 billion in world-wide revenues this year. That figure is expected to hit at least $6 billion by 2006. Also, a survey conducted by the Pew Internet and American Life Project concluded that $4.5 million Americans have gambled online and that 1 million gamble online everyday.
