When talking to the classroom teacher about the students interest and learning profile I was told that the students enjoy music in the classroom. She said that they love to sing and dance. She also said that they are kinesthetic learners that want movement incorporated into learning. However, I still gave my students two assessments an interest survey and a learning profile with Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences. I made the interest survey on my own. I asked students basic interest questions, such as their favorite color, what they want to do when they grow up and their favorite subject in school. I put the survey on the SMARTBoard and used a “screen” to cover up the questions that we had not done yet. I then went over each question individually with the students. The students did well with asking questions about the meaning of words and asking me to give them examples. The students only needed to be reminded a few times that they needed to raise their had to ask questions. When looking at the results of the surveys I put all the students answers into a Numbers document. The first survey I looked at was the interest survey. Most of the students said that they wanted to be either a teacher, police officer, or doctor. These results were expected, because these are all people that the students see regularly. I could use this information when choosing books for the students to read. Most of the students said that their favorite subject in school was history and math. I did not know what to expect in this category so I was interested in the results. When working with these students I hope to build their love in the subjects that they did not circle by appealing to their interests. Most of the students seemed to enjoy the colors pink and red. Expanded and strengthened state private insurance companies are to be expected since more younger Texans enter the market thanks to the premium support. Texas can expect savings through more proper use of medical care, lower numbers in Medicaid, and savings from increased recipient cost sharing. Texas must refuse to comply with the new high-risk pools. There are many reasons Texas should not comply but the main reason is poor design. Currently, eighteen states have decided not to participate in these pools, Texas is undecided. Any person with a pre-existing medical disorder whom has been without insurance for six month will qualify. The law gave the Department of Health discretion in determining with conditions qualifies. Theoretically, the Department of Health could say the flu is a pre existing medical condition. If Texas does not refuse to comply with these pools it is only a matter of time before the demand will exceed the supply. A huge concern is when the funding is gone what do the state politicians do. I see two options. One, state officials will end the coverage all together and pull the plug. Two, continue to allow the program to run with the use of state tax dollars.
After taking the Personal Assessment Literacy Survey, I learned a lot about myself and what I do know about assessments, and what I don’t. This survey allowed me to reflect on the process that I take to plan, develop, and administer tests in my class and what I need to do with the results. When I went through the criteria of all of the topics in the survey, I honestly did not know what the survey was talking about or what it meant. This was really concerning to me because I like to think that I do a pretty good job when it comes to instruction of my class and how I assess their knowledge of the material. I learned from this survey that there are a lot of things I do well during assessments and that there is still a lot that I need to learn to be an effective classroom leader.
The Great Gatsby is considered one of the best pieces of American Literature by many critics and authors. This is not because it was an interesting novel, it’s because it represented the time period well. It showed how there were many scandalous and immoral acts revolving around the major characters like Gatsby, Daisy, and Tom. These characters were shown having affairs, breaking the law multiple times, and being immoral. Colors in The Great Gatsby were extremely important because they show symbolism behind objects and characters. The color white represents impurity. Green symbolizes desirable but unattainable objects or people. Yellow is the color of death and corruption. These colors help show that impurity,wealth, and corruption can lead to the immorality of a person.
It is true that the years do go by very fast. It is almost unbelievable that I am finally at the doorstep to earn my Bachelors of Science degree in community health. Being in the major has empowered me to work diligently and think critically and strategically before any important decision. Through the School of Public Health I have not only been marinated in valuable information and knowledge, but I have also acquired priceless skills that have extensively prepared me to become a community health professional. Each elective and core courses alike have fully prepared me to meet the competencies of the program. Undergraduate courses such as, Health 200: Introduction to Research in Community health, Health 300: Biostatistics for Public Health Practice, Health 301: Epidemiology for Public Health Practice, Health 391: Principles of Community health, Health 420: Methods and Materials in Community Health and Health 490: Principles of Community Health, have fully prepared me to be a public health professional.
To obtain and understanding of the current state of American Architecture and its development, we must first briefly establish the origin of architecture in America. Much of the 17th-century English colonial architecture resembled late medieval forms that had survived throughout much of rural England. The first American architecture houses were built in a wide range of sizes, gables, and overhangs. They also had a lack of symmetry that was reflected in the late medieval style throughout Europe. However, unlike rural England’s architecture, in Virginia and Maryland; brick construction and a symmetrical facade were preferred for one story homes. Upon the idea of domestic homes, cities began to be founded in the 17th century. Cities such as Boston, were chaotic in plan and with the turn of the 18th century, colonies began to take on a more permanent role, often establishing individual character. Newly founded cities, such as: Williamsburg, Virginia; Annapolis, Maryland, and especially Philadelphia began to be laid out in a logical organization of regular grids. This eluded planners in London during the same period and thus the diverse seed of American architecture was planned. Continuing the development of unique American architecture, American in the early 1890s began to value their own heritage and architectural language featuring larger neighborhood tracts. In the 19th century, the Colonial Revival style took a more eclectic style, and columns were often seen.

My favorite subject in highs cool was math, since it required little English knowledge and my least favorite subject was Physical Education. In Searching for “Voices”: Feminism, Anthropology, and the Global Debates over Female Genital Operations, Walley discusses the social issues concerning female genital operations as perceived by “westerners”, as well as discusses her ethnographic account of female circumcision. Her main purpose of doing this was to lay the groundwork for “a more productive feminist and anthropological debate” capable of going beyond the binary terms in which female circumcisions are usually discussed. Since female circumcisions are known by a variety of names, such as female genital mutilation and female genital torture, and with her understanding of the negative connotation often associated with those varieties of names, Walley makes the decision to adopt the term female genital operations instead. In 1988, Walley went in the village of KiKhome, in western Kenya as an English teacher and immersed herself in the lives of the people living around the village to better understand the practice of female genital operations as an outsider. One day, some of her students invited her to assist at a female genital operation ceremony. She found out that the participants see circumcision as a rite of passage into adulthood. However, she truly wanted to know the participants’ personal views on the topic rather than the imposed views of their parents and their culture. The four women she interviewed told her that “their custom was good,” and it was something that a person needs to accept with her whole being not to feel the pain. Nevertheless, some of the women told her that they would not want their daughters to undergo circumcision, and that they themselves regretted having done the procedure. In closing, implementing only one theory of learning can be limiting to the success of students in a classroom setting. A more effective approach would be “draw from two or more theoretical perspectives… to better capture the complex nature of human thinking and learning” (Ormrod, 2012). According to Howard Gardner, there are multiple intelligences in human individuals that are based on biological and cultural elements (Brualdi, 1996). Since each of the intelligences work independently of each other, but also complement each other individuals learn, teachers should teach accordingly (Brualdi, 1996).
The terms primary, secondary and tertiary relate to different sectors of the economy. Wikipedia describes the primary sector of the economy as the sector of an economy making direct use of natural resources. This includes agriculture, forestry, fishing and mining.
I want to teach students more than just the material; I want students to be able to apply skills learned in the classroom, to the real world. An important factor in teaching is to teach life skills as well as giving students the tools to survive in the real world. Teachers are like role models; at least we should look at ourselves in that way. Our job is to aid our students in becoming functional individuals in society and our experiences can be used as a guide. Taking an active part in my students learning is essential to me. Posing questions encourages students to think. This gives the students an opportunity to analyze, discuss, synthesize and apply the material in real life.

To distinguish a student by their learning style, there must first be a review of the student’s abilities and the factors affecting their learning. When reviewing these factors there will be a sense of when the students responses are more consistent and help a teacher figure out when a student learns the best and how they learn as an individual. There are six different things that could affect the learning of a student: brain processing, senses, physical needs, environment, social needs, and emotional attitudes (Creative learning,1997).
There are several ways in which a teacher can accommodate every learning style by doing simple things in the classroom. Examples of this would be a certain seating arrangement or even just changing all the time to reach each students style. Knowing and learning styles might be one of the most important things to learn from your students at the beginning of each school year. There are several tests out there that can help with this, but know each style is also important. Knowing your own learning intelligence as a teacher will also help you and is important. This allows you to know in which way you will best be able to absorb information that is important in our teaching. Multiple intelligences are a vital part of any teacher’s lesson plans and are especially necessary in the ever-changing diversities of the schools. Learning styles will bring out the strengths and weaknesses.
