Integrity is doing what’s right even if it’s difficult. Being integrous is a vital part of being a leader. In the movie, “Remember the Titans,” the character Gerry shows integrity by standing up to his friends and defending his teammates. Gerry also showed integrity by standing up to his mom and and telling her to give his black teammates chance. In the beginning of the movie, Gerry is against the fact that he will have to play football on the same team with black people. After getting to know his new teammates, Gerry’s mindset changes and he then believed that that all of his teammates should be treated equally. Shortly after this, the team has their first game. Gerry’s friends invite him to hang out. He tells them that he would rather be
getting involved himself. This allowed Bertier, a white player, the chance to show Social Support for his black teammates and improve trust on the
The movie shows Bertier kicking Ray off the team because he was making the colored team members look bad, who was one of his close friends. Bertier’s action shows that he is not going to let anyone on the team treat a colored member badly or make them look foolish. Next, Bertier ditched his friends for the team after one of their games they won, for his friends treated him and his team members rude and differently. This shows how Gerry was very dedicated to his team, and he was willing to leave his friends to be with his team of color. This is how Gerry Bertier didn’t tolerate his team getting treated
“Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody's going to know whether you did it or not,” says Oprah Winfrey. Integrity is shown through unyielding support of ideals on morals, while being complete or deliberate. In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, there are several strong examples of integrity. The author in To Kill a Mockingbird illustrates integrity fully and completely through two characters that really stood out to me: Atticus and Mrs. Dubose.
Integrity can be described to who a person is when no one is watching. A person with integrity does the right thing even when they are alone and they know no one else is around. An example in the Marine Corps would be standing a post by yourself. If you are all alone on a post and no one else is scheduled to come out for hours, does the person continue to walk their post or do they
Integrity is the quality of having honesty and strong values. In the story “from Sir Gawain the Green Knight” Sir Gawain had to face many challenges and still had integrity. Although he botched some of his tests, he also exceeded some of the trials. His integrity helped him throughout all the challenges he faced. Due to the all the tests that were given he had to face them all. They were set to an ingenious mark on the King. The king’s test was to prove and see if he was conscientious, robust, and committed.
Walter Winchell once said, “Never above you. Never below you. Always beside you.” The movie Remember The Titans gives truth to this quote. Produced in 2000, this movie stars actors such as Denzel Washington, Will Patton and Wood Harris. One may think that this movie is just about football but its depth is so much more. Taking place in Alexandria, Virginia, race mixing is unheard of until 1971 when T.C. Williams High School is established. When the schools are integrated a new football coach is brought in and the community and students are not happy about it, as the new coach is an African American. This movie shows how people overcome adversity and unite as one to achieve a common goal.
The movie I decided to analyze was Remember the Titans. I examined the dilemmas and ethical choices that were displayed throughout the story. In the early 1970s, two schools in Alexandria Virginia integrate forming T.C. Williams High School. The Caucasian head coach of the Titans is replaced by an African American coach (Denzel Washington) from North Carolina, which causes a fury among white parents and students. Tensions arise quickly among the players and throughout the community when players of different races are forced together on the same football team. Coach Boone is a great example of a leader. He knows he faces a tough year of teaching his hated team. But, instead of listening to the hating town or administrators, Boone pushes his team to their limits and forces good relationships between players, regardless of race. His vision for the team involves getting the players concerned in what the team needs to become, and not what it is supposed to be; a waste. Boone is a convincing leader with a brutal, boot camp approach to coaching. He believes in making the players re-build themselves as a team. When Boone says, You will wear a jacket, shirt, and tie. If you don't have one buy one, can't afford one then borrow one from your old man, if you don't have an old man, then find a drunk, trade him for his. It showed that he was a handy Craftsman and wanted done what he wanted done no matter what it took.During training camp, Boone pairs black players with white players and instructs them to learn about each other. This idea is met with a lot of fighting, but black linebacker Julius Campbell and stubborn white All-American Gerry Bertier. It was difficult for the players to cope with the fact they had to play with and compete with ...
The audience slowly sees the players coming together forgetting about the color of each other’s skin. The players begin to find out that they have things in common with one another through things like music. The famous locker room scene where the players come together for “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”.
Integrity to me means going above and beyond with everything I do. I think this will fuel good grades and completion of assignments. Having good integrity also came with some confidence, because I had to do more and go outside of the crowd. I did and do more than everyone else, that made me fell a lot more confident about my actions. Confidence has pushed me to make suggestions that I otherwise wouldn't.
Integrity is an idea that has been discussed by individuals with a verbal acuity far beyond anything I could ever hope for. With that in mind, I will not delve deeply or poetically into what integrity is or should mean. However, I will simplify the meaning of integrity; at the core, integrity boils down to doing what is right even if nobody is watching. See a piece of trash on the ground and nobody is around...pick it up. Driving down the road with no cops in sight...drive the speed limit. Arrive at a tollbooth and no attendant is working…pay the toll. An applicant is not readily available to sign a form for enlistment…track them down and ensure they sign it. I could write examples until infinity becomes paltry in comparison, yet I am sure I have made my point clearly; the greater good must be upheld regardless of who is there to ensure it is happening. It seems obvious that integrity should be a trait every individual is hardwired with from birth. However, integrity is a thankless trait; nobody is around after all. An individual cannot expect someone to clap, to smile, to thank them, to do anything actually. By definition, integrity should be something that is followed through with simply because an individual wishes to do what is correct, not because they expect accolades of any sort.
For the many years that humans have roamed in this world, we have always been very concerned about what other people will think about our reasoning behind our decisions. This perpetual ideal often hinders an individual to act based upon their moral values and beliefs. Integrity is the virtue that incorporates these values and decisions of righteousness; this virtue also evidently shows a person’s true character. It is merely impossible to embrace this perfectly at the moment of birth. Acts of courage are essential for developing and nurturing integrity because they strengthen one’s moral value system along with raising awareness of the path or decisions they take in life and it also brings forth a realization that the
Integrity is how somebody lives their life. In this life we live, we face choices every day that only we can answer. We dictate how we run our own lives, and they way we run them defines us. Integrity is doing the right thing versus the wrong thing. People, if nothing else, can always have their pride, their integrity. It is something that means a lot to some people and then nothing to others. The ones who value their integrity highly are the good people in this world, and the opposite is true for those who do not value their integrity.
Integrity is the quality of being honest. When you are honest about something or a certain situation you are considered a person of integrity. Also when you have integrity you have strong moral principles. When you have strong moral principles you know what is right and what is wrong. “Having integrity means doing the right thing in a reliable way. It's a personality trait that we admire, since it means a person has a moral compass that doesn't waver. It literally means having "wholeness" of character, just as an integer is a "whole number" with no fractions.” Furthermore, having integrity is a quality that many strive to have because it often means that you are a good person.
In life there are temptations are placed in front of us daily, but we must have integrity and advance forward. To have high morals and principles people must have integrity. Integrity is when someone does honest acts and can genuinely say that their work and actions can be revered. I demonstrate integrity by: being honest with my administrators, keeping my promises no matter what.
Integrity is, in my opinion the important characteristics because it’s a core quality of a great life, building a big “character” to ensure that someone knows right from wrong. My mom said to me “Without integrity you’re just a living failure”. Throughout my whole life I have used integrity in some way, shape, or form. Like playing sports, I have always been the leader of every team I played for if it was in basketball, baseball, and football. In sports having integrity is very
