This technology assist the nurse in confirming patients identify by confirming the patients’ dose, time and form of medication (Helmons, Wargel, & Daniels, 2009). Having an EHR also comes with a program that allows the medical staff to scan medications so medication errors can be prevented. According to Helmons, Wargel, and Daniels (2009) they conducted an observational study in two medical –surgical units one in the medical intensive care (ICU) and one in the surgical ICU. The researchers watched 386 nurses within the two hospitals use bar code scanning before they administrated patients’ medications. The results of the research found a 58 % decrease in medication errors between the two hospitals because of the EHR containing a bar code assisted medication administration
When I was younger I use to pretend to be a doctor or nurse. It was always fun to go around and check to see who had a heart beat, who was bleeding, and who was hurt. I knew that I wanted a career in the medical field, but was unsure if I really wanted to be a doctor or a nurse. I thought the only career was to be a doctor or nurse. Of course, the medical profession is larger than that. It includes office staff, EMT’s, nurses, physician assistants, and several other kinds of physicians. While the opportunities are endless in this career field, I have decided that being a doctor or nurse was not what I really wanted to do. It takes too long; the schooling alone is longer than four years. I was not willing to spend more than four years in school. Instead I decided that I wanted to do something that is in the same field as a doctor or nurse. Yet, something that takes less time in school to get a degree for. In addition, I wanted it to be something that I could do to help doctors, nurses, and patients. That is when I found out that Medical Coding and Billing is what I wanted to do.
is required to take prior to hiring. A psychological test is taken as well to evaluate

I had the opportunity to meet with Dee Laguerra for a few hours and learned so much about the Medical records side of our facility and its impact on healthcare organization. As Director of Health Information Management (HIM) she is responsible for many aspects of managing the medical record; which is a legal document. I did not realize how complex this department is and how vital this department is to the legal and financial position of the organization. Dee’s position as director is the responsibility for the collection, organizing, scanning, and completions of the medical records in a timely matter after the patient is discharged. The reason for the timeliness of scanning the medical records is for the preparation for the coders to review all the charts to code for insurance billing. The time requirement for th...
There are a number of ways in which patient care can be improved with a facility that utilizes multiple charting systems. The simplest way to provide effective quality care is to implement the EHR. A EHR is an electronic system consisting of a complete patient medical health history of past and current conditions (Keller, 2016; Menachemi & Collum, 2011). In addition, to the patient’s demographic, diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, allergies, laboratory data, immunizations, and test results. EHR decreases medical errors such as misinterpretation of clinical notes, doctors orders, not having access to paper chart that have yet to be filed or has been missed file (Keller, 2016). EHR also allows for quick and easy access to diagnostic test results and patient notes that are needed for patient care. EHR will significantly enhance patient care by reducing the amount of time it takes the healthcare team to retrieve the needed health information to deliver patient care. It will also dramatically reduce medical errors that are associated with the nursing staff manually entering doctors’
...fied, it is time to implement it. Contracting an employment agency after getting the human resource’s approval will be the first step. From here, reviewing resumes and conducting interviews with candidates can begin. After finding and hiring the candidate with the right skills to fill the newly open position, the core problem will be resolved.
HRM should review applications as well as search resume databases for the candidates that have the qualifications and skills required for the position. HRM however does not know in depth what the manger is looking for, nor who would be the best fit in the department so they are unable to make the hiring decisions on their own. (Fallon Jr., & McConnell, 2007). HRM should then send the list of resumes to department managers for interview.
Therefore, human resource professions plan in a way by understanding the requirement needed to handle task of a particular department. Therefore, giving job description is essential where essential skills and requirement that a candidate need to have must be given. Besides, person specifications are also important to know the experience and qualities within a person (Wright et al. 2014). After recruiting the candidates they are screened and selected to come up in next level where interview will be conducted among the selected candidates. In addition, training is an important element that groom up the candidates according to the roles and responsibilities they will be conducting as an organisation
...anization. As outlined in the “Devanna Model” the interrelatedness of all principal HR functions would lead to costly consequences for the organization as a result of unsuitable applicants being chosen in the selection process. While the selection processes available are versatile, including models of probation, random selection, quota systems, empirical considerations, and intrinsic attributes, there are several common characteristics which are often found when selecting external candidates. These include CV screening, preliminary interviews, application forms, psychometric testing, assessment centres, interviews, medical examinations, and reference checks. As each method has a different validity and reliability, it is important for HR officers to use a combination of different methods to objectively predict and select the most suitable workers for the job.
This test can also be used for companies trying to employee new hires through what is called employment assessment test for the right candidates, which entails that a person requiring the job have high skills with dealing with people and being able to deal within a stressful environment.
