Informative Speech: The Beast Haunted House

Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about The Beast Haunted House in Kansas City, Missouri.
Introduction
Attention Material: The Beast is the largest haunted house in America. The Beast is rated one of the Top 13 Haunted Houses in the nation. One reasons why The Beast prevails over other haunted houses is because it less about gore and more about messing with your phobias, such as abandonment, darkness, and other psychological horrors. Credibility: I went through The Beast on October 17, 2015. Waiting to go into The Beast was one of the most anxious times of my life. I was terrified, but also very excited. Waiting outside of the haunted house is almost as scary as going

through it. While waiting outside you will see many people dressed in creepy costumes, they will get up into your personal space and do everything they can do to scare you out of going into the haunted house. Many people get too scared by what is outside and then don’t even want to see what is inside. I was almost one of those people. My sources for this speech came from The Beast, Haunt World, and America Haunts.
Thesis/Connect With Audience: The information that I gained from the survey's told me that only 1 out of 13 of you have been to The Beast, and that most of you do not enjoy haunted houses.

Since most of you have never been to The Beast my speech should be very informative for you. I hope that all of you decide to try The Beast at least once.
Preview: Today I would like to tell you about The Beast. I would like to tell you about when, where, and why it was made, what it is based around, how much it cost to get into, and other facts about

it.
Transition: For my first point I would like to tell you when, where, and why The Beast was made.
Body
Main Point: After looking over the surveys I realized that many of you have never been to The Beast, so I would like to inform you on it.
The Beast was founded in 1991. The beast was designed in an old commercial building in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The beast is designed and operated by Full Moon Productions along with newest owner Amber Arnett ‐ Bequeaith.
The Beast takes the average person approximately 40-55 minutes to get through. The Beast was designed with an open floor format design which makes it very easy to get lost and scared in. The open floor format helps to keep people from getting into a straight line or big groups which then makes it harder to get scared.
One part of The Beast is the Werewolf Forest. The Werewolf Forest is 1/4 of an acre and is pitch black. Every 30 minutes people dressed up as werewolves come in and help guests that cannot find their way out of the forest. (Beast)
To exit The Beast you have to slide down a four story metal slide that goes outside of the building. To go down this slide you have to lay down on a piece of wax paper, the slide is full of baby powder to help increase its speed.

Transition: The second point I would like to tell you about is what The Beast is based on.
Main Point: The Beast Haunted houses plays more on people's psychological fears and phobias than on gore. (America Haunts)
A. One way The Beast plays on people's psychological fears is by splitting up the groups and by making them feel abandoned. Big groups are not all allowed to go in all at once, and they wait a couple minutes between sending in each group. This allows each group to be scared individually and to not all get crammed together.
B. Another way it messes with people's fears and phobias is by having live reptiles spread throughout the haunted house. Such as snakes, and alligators. One of the reptiles that lurks in The Beast is Medusa. Medusa is a 25-foot live python. Guinness World Record awarded Medusa as the world's longest captive snake of its kind. (America Haunts)

Transition: The third point I would like to tell you about is the price, directions, and the average amount of time it takes to go through.
Main Point: Random Facts about The Beast.
A. For one person to get into The Beast it cost. $37.00. When you purchase a ticket online you get free parking and a free hay ride to and from the haunted house. You can purchase tickets online at kcbeast.com
B. The Beast is located at 1410 W. 13th, KCMO 64102. It takes a little over 2 hours to get from Chanute to Kansas City, Missouri.
C. It takes about 45-55 minutes to get completely through the haunted house, depending on the person. The only exit out of the building is a four story slide. "Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult."

Concluding Remarks: Now that I have told you all that you need to know about The Beast, I hope that I have convinced you to go through the haunted house yourself. The Beast truly is an amazing haunted house, and I feel that it is really worth the money.
