“Welcome to Walt Disney World where dreams become reality and imagination becomes magic. You will create everlasting memories that will be cherished forever with family and friends at the Walt Disney Resort. Thank you and enjoy your stay.”
Disneyland is a magical place where most children's dreams come true. Walt’s idea was to make Disneyland a reality instead of a dream. But the real question is, WAS HE ABLE TO?
Good morning/afternoon honourable judges, teachers and, students. Today I will be talking to you about Walt Disney and his wonderful imagination. I believe that Walt was an amazing and unstoppable man.
Walter Elias Disney, also known as Walt Disney was born on December 5th 1901 in Chicago,Illinois. Walt and his family

were Irish and, Canadian. He had a great life in Chicago. Walt was one of five children and had a sister and three brothers. Disney lived most of his childhood in Missouri where he began drawing and painting. Walter later moved to Kansas City where he developed a love for trains. His uncle Mike was a train engineer and the special person in Disney’s life who made him like trains. Disney later worked a summer job on the train selling snacks and newspapers to travelers. Walt went to McKinley High School in Chicago, where he attended drawing and photography classes. He was also able to draw cartoons for the school newspaper. He took night drawing courses at the Chicago Art Institute. When Walt was 16 years old he notified his school that he was leaving to go to the army. He was later denied because he was underage and decided to go and drive an ambulance in France. After taking courses at the Chicago Art Institute, Disney created a character called Oswald.
Oswald was also the first Disney character to sell merchandise such as chocolate covered marshmallow candy bars, a stencil set and a paper back button. The ideas for Oswald came about when Walt’s film distributor Charles Mintz suggested a change in direction to keep his animated short films fresh and good. It just so happens that Universal Studios was searching for a new cartoon series with a rabbit and Charles Mintz decided to suggest Walt. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was a funny and devious character who had a close resemblance to the great character you all know was Mickey Mouse. It’s been said that Oswald is Mickey but just with long ears and feet. The first Ostwald cartoon Trolley Troubles was first shown on September 5th 1927. Oswald Smart Actions and funny moments made him a favorite from moviegoers over the next 17 months. Disney went on to animate Oswald into the late 1930’s. Ironically Oswald's would return to Disney in February 2006. Unfortunately Oswald The Lucky Rabbit was taken from Walt and he was unable to get him back. Disney knew that he had to create a character that nobody could ever take away from …show more content…
him. On April 2nd 1940 was when Walt Disney announced his first talk to a very lucky customer.
Disney's next big hit was on November 13th 1940 when he released one of its first highly adored originals Fantasia in color. Fantasia is an extraordinary movie. Out of 216 it is 58th in top all time Disney movies. This makes it one of the best. It is about a Sorcerer's Apprentice who is played by Mickey. On February 5th 1953 Peter Pan was released. Peter Pan shows what life is like to be a kid and never wanting to grow up. On July 17th 1955 the first Disney park open in Anaheim California to an invited audience. This was a great day in Disney history. Shortly after the opening in the Park Walt Disney passed away at age 65. Walt Disney made it possible to turn dreams into reality, and building the Walt Disney Company. And again on December 20th 1971 the co-founder Roy.O.Disney passed away. He was Walt's older brother. Walt and his brothers dreams and imagination had opened a number of parks. On March 28th 1987 the first Disney store opened. It was a huge hit, and stayed around for a while. Later in Disney history on April 18th 1994 The Beauty and The Beast was performed on broadway for the first time in New York. That was the first Disney broadway show. And Disney didn’t stop there. It went on to June 15 1994 when the Lion King opened in theaters in Los Angeles and NYC. It later went worldwide on June 24th 1994. On October 1st 1995 the official disney channel
begins its program on air in the United Kingdom. Currently Disneyland is one of the best theme parks and one of the most popular and is worth 1.6 Billion Dollars. It is also one of the most successful companies in the world. Now I believe, if it wasn’t for Walt Disney and his determination to make his dreams come true, many children today wouldn’t have experienced the joy of magic. As Walt Disney once said, “Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age and dreams are forever.” Thank You!
It would be very hard to not have heard about Disney because he has released so many different kinds of animations, but during the 1950’s Disney began to become less involved in the animation department, entrusting most of its operations to his main animators, the Nine Old Men, although he was always at story meetings. Instead, he started concentrating on other things. On a business trip to Chicago in the late 1940s, Disney drew sketches of his ideas for an amusement park where he envisioned his employees spending time with their children. These ideas developed into a concept for a larger enterprise which was to become Disneyland. Disney spent five years of his life developing Disneyland and created a new company, called WED Enterprises, to carry out the planning and production of the park. In March 1952 Walt Disney got permission to build Disneyland. Construction work started in July 1954, and opened in July 1955; the opening ceremony was broadcast on ABC, which reached 70 million viewers. The park was designed as a series of themed lands, linked by the central Main Street, U.S.A a replica of the main street in his hometown of
Walt Disney was born in 1890 to a woman named Señora Isabelle Zamora. His father, Elias, met Isabelle in California of that same year and the two carried on an affair that ended with the birth of Walt. Later, Elias brought the two back to Chicago, Illinois where Isabelle became a housekeeper for the Disney family. Walt was assimilated into the Disney household and treated as the biological son of Elias and Flora Disney. Isabelle was with the family for years, being passed on from the Elias and Flora household to the Walt and Lillian family years later (Eliot 152-157). This account of Walt Disney’s birth poses many questions about myths, legends, and rumours that encircled the life of the “man behind the mouse”. Biographies and documentaries attempt to give accurate chronicles of his life and delve into the mind of this genius. Even people who make a career of studying the man’s life can only make theories about his actions from oral descriptions given by those who knew Disney personally. However, On Friday, October 24, 1947, Walt Disney testified in front of the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) and left his legacy on record for the entire world. While the testimony was documented and cannot be questioned, Disney’s motives for testifying, impact it had on his animated features, and how the ordeal affected his image are issues that are still scrutinised and debated.
There are many things that you may not know about Walt Disney. For one, Oswald was one of the first characters that Disne...
While most just think of Walt Disney as the creator of the Disney movie empire and the Disney theme parks, those such as author Steven Watts, who think more deeply about Disney, consider him to be the “influential architect of modern America” (Watts, p. 4). While the genius of Walt Disney has affected many aspects of American, and now overseas, cultures, his empire has had a significant impact on what people experience during childhood.
There is no arguing Walt Disney practiced what he preached. In fact, he did what he did so well that people continue to bring others to see what he did to this day, that being Disneyland. First, we’ll start by learning about the background history of Disneyland. Next, we’ll compare Disneyland from when it first started to what it has developed into. And finally, we’ll explore all the eight parks and what they have to offer.
He took a live human and inserted them into a cartoon. He was the first to do this. After he produced so many of these shorts, it was when he found his place in Hollywood. The more shorts he did, the more famous and well known he became. Walt had accomplished so much in his life, but the only thing left was a family.
With a name like Walt Disney, it seems like you are expected to do great things and have your name known across America. From a young age, Walt Disney had an interest in all things animation. Growing up in a time where animation and TV was making its first appearances, Walt Disney wanted to be a part of the sensation. Striving and pushing forward with his natural talent of the creative arts and entertainment, Mr. Walt Disney became one of the most well-known entertainers that is mentioned all around the world. His great animation and artistic works but also with his world famous characters and popular theme parks, the first one, Disneyland, being built in Anaheim, California in 1955.
Walt Disney was an amazing person. He was smart, adventurous, full of hope, dedicated, and inspiring. He had the spirit of a dreamer. Walt displayed happiness, courage, leadership, strength, talent, and was willing. Some even say Disney was a genius.
Walter Elias Disney was born on December 5th, 1901, in Chicago. He was the fourth of five children, having three brothers, Herbert, Raymond, and Roy, when he was born. In 1903, parents Elias and Flora added a daughter, Ruth, to the family. Elias worried about big-city life, so the Disney family moved to a farm near Marceline, Missouri, in 1906 (Jaffe 7). Walt’s job on the farm was to take care of the animals, many of which would inspire his famous characters later in life (“Walt Disney”). These beloved animals were also the subjects of Walt’s first sketches.
He took bold actions like creating new methods of animation and brilliant new characters such as Oswald, Mickey and so many other characters. Now I bet you're wondering why did you do this project on him and did he inspire you in anyway, and if so how? Well, I answer to both of those questions for you. Well, I did the project on him because there's so many things that I wanted to learn about him and because I wanted to do somebody who did something artistic and yes, he did inspire me because when I learned how much ups and downs he had to go and how he still didn’t give up and was able to make the first movie with sound and color, now I know that if something is hard, just keep pushing and you'll make it, if you try. So why do I need to know about him, well you need to know about him because he was the one that created movies with sound, and I bet half of the movies in your house wouldn't be there if it wasn't for Walt
The first theme park opening in 1955 was Disneyland in California. After one full year of construction demands and a total investment of $17 million the Six thousands invitations to the grand opening had been mailed inviting people to experience the magic Disney had created but when the gates opened the Disneyland was far from magical. Workmen were still planting trees, the paint was still wet and the asphalt wasn’t set. The food stalls and restaurants ran out of food due to the high number of people because of counterfeit tickets being sold. Walt Disney didn’t know didn’t know what was going on because his attention was on the live broadcast. The rides broke down shortly after use. When Walt Disney World opened in 1971 the
Since the company was started, Walt Disney has always envisioned more than just making animated movies. In 1952 the company made plans to build its first theme park known as Disneyland (Disney.com, 2011). With the opening of the park the Walt Disney Company initiated a growth strategy that would take them to the global entertainment company that they are known as today. In 1984 the company brought in a new CEO ...
The Main Street station, is the curtains to a large production as if the Magic Kingdom was a theater. As I wander beneath the archway, I notice that above the arch is a plaque that reads: “Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy”. As I continue to stroll through the passage on the way to Main Street, there are posters of “upcoming attractions” that line the walls on both sides. I then step into Main Street U.S.A. and begin to hear the Victorian style orchestra playing over the speakers. I notice some Disney pals in Town Square greeting guests as if they were old friends. Then I begin to travel further down the street, and the smell of the caramel apples, chocolate chip cookies, and other sweets walk out of the open doors of the bakery and into the street. At the end of this turn of the century town, sits the one hundred eightyninefoottall, Cinderella Castle. This moment is a pivotal moment in any Disney vacation, because the castle is well known to millions. I get
The man, the dreamer, the artist, the creator, producer, the pioneer, and the developer; Walt Disney accomplished building his own empire along with his legacy that continues to grow every day. Every individual has a story about what drives them to be the person they are today and will be tomorrow. Personally, I love his impressive movies and alluring theme parks. Walt Disney has played an integral part of my family’s life. In fact, my daughter became engaged at the end of Main Street, in a fairy-tale moment in front of the enchanted Cinderella’s Castle, in the Magic Kingdom theme park for her birthday over the holidays. Just about everyone has some knowledge of Walt Disney’s incredible endeavors. However, how many people can say that they have knowledge of the man Disney was before creating Mickey Mouse and what follows?
Ever since I was about six years old, I wanted in the worst way to go to Disneyland. I would hope every year that my parents would chose Disneyland as our next family vacation destination. I dreamt of the day I would come back from Disneyland with exciting tales of adventure and a pair of sparkly, ruby red and black Minnie Mouse ears of my very own that would be the envy of every kid in my elementary class. Once I finally went to Disneyland, it was amazing; Disneyland was everything I had expected and more. However, a couple years later when I returned to Disneyland, it was different. The rides, buildings, and everything in the park did not have the same allure. The magic I had experienced as a child was no longer there.
