What is cancer? “Cancer is a term used for diseases in which abnormal cells divide without control and are able to invade other tissues.” Cancer cell can spread to different parts of the body through blood and lymph systems. There are more than hundred different kinds of cancer. Most of the them are named after the organs. For example, cancer that begins in the colon is called colon cancer. How is cancer classified? It is classified in five different groups: carcinomas, sarcomas, Lymphomas and Leukemia. Cells that cover internal and external parts of the body such as lung, breast, and colon cancer characterize carcinomas. Cells that are situated in bone, cartilage, fat, connective tissue, muscle, and other supportive tissues characterize sarcomas. …show more content…
Chemotherapy works by stopping or slowing the growth of cancer cells, which grow and split quickly. But it can also harm healthy cells that divide quickly, such as those that line in the mouth and intestines or cause your hair to grow. It damages healthy cells that may cause side effects. What does chemotherapy do? How does it assist? Depending on your type of cancer and how advanced it is. Chemotherapy can cure cancer, control caner and also ease cancer.
Cure cancer - when chemotherapy destroys cancer cells to the point that your doctor can no longer detect them in your body and they will not grow

In Japan, where tea is the preferred beverage, green tea use has been connected to reduce risk of stomach cancer among women. In China, green tea drinkers were found to have a lower risk of developing rectal and pancreatic cancers compared with non-tea drinkers. Tea drinkers have also showned to be at reduced risk for colon, breast, ovarian, prostate, and lung cancers. Green tea, black tea and white tea all types of tea seems to have value as cancer preventive agents.
Cruciferous Vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage contains phytonutrients known as glucosinolates, which may help inhibit the metabolism of some carcinogens and stimulate the body's production of detoxification enzymes.
Pomegranates: In laboratory and animal studies, ellagic acid has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth and neutralize cancer-causing mixtures. Other foods rich in ellagic acid are raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, walnuts, pecans, cranberries, and
Over 95% of colorectal cancers are ad enocarcinomas. These are cancers of the glandular cells that line the inside of the colon and rectum. Other, less common type of tumors may also develop in the colon and rectum. Carcinoid tumors develop from hormone-producing cells of the intestine. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors develop in the connective tissue and muscle layers in the wall of the colon and rectum. Lymphomas are cancers of immune system cells that typically develop in lymph nodes but may also start in the colon and rectum or other organs.
Cancer is a disease in which cells multiply out of control and gradually build a mass of tissue called a tumor. There has been a large amount of research dedicated to the treatment and cure of cancer. Several types of treatments have been developed. The following are just some of the major examples of cancer therapy: surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, biologic therapy, biorhythms, unconventional treatments, and hyperthermia. Each type of treatment is discussed in detail below.
What the recent studies are showing is pretty scary. Our country has the highest number of colon-rectal cancer cases being reported in the entire world. And the disease is equally extensive among males as they are in females. In fact the disease today is killing more Americans than it ever did before. To some it is too embarrassing a subject to talk about. But it must be realized that cancer and deaths resulting from that are much more serious things and should be dealt brushing aside all sorts of inhibitions.
Cancer is the term used to describe a group of diseases consisting of hundreds of ailments and although there exists so many different types of cancer, they all begin in a similar way. The body is made up of over a trillion cells, and cancer is the uncontrolled growth of malfunctioning cells in the body (Dawson, 1996). “Normal body cells grow, divide, and die in an orderly fashion. During the early years of a person’s life, normal cells divide faster to allow the person to grow. After the person becomes an adult, most cells divide only to replace worn-out or dying cells or to repair injuries” (American Cancer Society, 2012).
... other treatments, like surgery or radiation, to kill any leftover cells that are still in the body. Chemo can also be used in the form of neoadjuvant therapy to shrink tumors to prepare for other forms of treatment, or in the form of palliative therapy to relieve pain. Today, doctors are using chemotherapy for other diseases besides cancer, such as bone marrow diseases and immune system disorders.
Colon cancer is a deadly cancer but sometimes you can survive through it if you find out sooner that you are diagnosed with colon cancer. People that are older than 50 are usually diagnosed with colon cancer. Colon cancer can spread different part of your body and cause you a lot of pain. Doctors have found some treatments to fix colon cancer but when you are on stage three or four sometimes there is nothing that they can do. Doctors are working hard to find new treatments and maybe someday colon cancer would not be a cancer that can kill you anymore.
To understand more about this disease I did a research on it, and according to the National Cancer Institute: “Cancer is a term used for diseases in which abnormal cells divide without control and are able to invade other tissues. Cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body through the blood and lymph system”. Also, there are more than 100 different types of cancer. Cancer is not a single disease, but a group of related diseases.
Chemotherapy is the use of chemicals to cure cancer. Chemotherapy is also known as “chemo”. The term for chemo came from the German bacteriologist Paul Ehrlich around the year 1900. He came up with the term when he was examining aniline dyes and arsenicals as possible treatments for diseases such as syphilis. He envisioned “magic bullets” that would be able to target invading organisms but still leave the host unscathed. This goal has been providing therapeutic benefits without many side effects in all areas of drug development. There has been a lot of success with compounds that modulate normal biochemistry within the body.
Cancer is a condition in the body when there is uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells that evolve into tumors. Fatty food, smoking, and drinking all affect the chances of developing cancer. Treatments for cancer include, but are not limited to, Surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Anyone can become a victim of cancer, but we can decrease our chances of getting cancer by being more informed on the disease and how to prevent it.
Cancer is known as one the prevalent diseases in the world today. Every year millions of people are afflicted by this disease. Cancer is a class of diseases wherein cells grow out of control. There may have been no proven way to completely prevent cancer but there are steps that can lower your risk or keep it from recurring. Eating a healthy diet is always on the top of the list when it comes to cancer prevention. Certain components on food are found to help in lowering the risk of cancer, such as antioxidants, phytochemicals, and omega-3 fatty acids. Physical activity may also reduced cancer risk by preventing obesity, reducing hormone levels and inflammation, and improving the immune system.
Cancer is a deadly disease that affects millions of American families each year. In cancer, cell division isn't controlled. Usually, cells have to go through a set of checks and balances before they divide, in cancer that is nonexistent. The cells just keep duplicating until they eventually form disorganized clumps called tumors. Tumors can either be, benign, meaning that they do not possess the power to metastasize to surrounding areas. If a tumor has the power to metastasize, it is classified as a malignant tumor. In simple terms, a benign tumor is not cancerous, and a malignant tumor is. Cancer cells cannot perform the necessary functions they were created for. Some types of cancers, like pancreatic cancer, cannot be cured. Other cancers such as melanoma and breast cancer have high survival rates when caught early. The four major types of treatments used to treat cancer include, surgery to remove the affected organ, radiation, chemotherapy, or biological treatments.
Cancer is a term used for diseases in which abnormal cells divide without control and begin to invade other tissues. The term cancer is also used when cells start to produce too quickly when there are not enough cells dying. Cancer cells are also called malignant cells. Cancerous cells are able to invade other healthy cells and can spread to other parts of the body through the blood and lymph systems.
It has been difficult to develop an accurate definition for cancer. The reputed British oncologist Willis has defined cancer as "an abnormal mass of tissue, the growth of which exceeds and is uncoordinated with that of the normal tissues and persists in the same excessive manner after cessation of the stimuli which evoked the change" (Cotran et al., 1999).
By harnessing this normal cell process, scientists hope to have found an effective way to combat cancer. Cancer is a disease that affects human somatic cells. It causes the cells to divide uncontrollably and form masses known as tumors. There are two different types of cancer tumors. Some tumors are benign, and other tumors are malignant.
The cancer that my grandmother was diagnosed with would leave patients dead if not treated immediately, it had metastasized; meaning spread throughout her body. They had started Chemotherapy- a drug used to treat Cancer cells in the body. The drug did help kill the Cancer Braich 2 cells but also killed other types of cells in the body.
