You and your friends are wandering through the forest. All of a sudden, you hear a loud noise and see a bright light in the sky. You are astounded and cannot believe your eyes, it’s a UFO! Then, an overwhelming sense of fear comes over you, and you cannot move. In a sudden flash of light, you are taken aboard the ship…. This alien themed roller coaster is a one of a kind riding experience. This ride uses a form of electromagnetic propulsion to propel the car forward. Electromagnetic propulsion is the same technology used in maglev trains. The technology used is a non-contact force, meaning it pushes or pulls on an object without actually touching it. This technology is also an example of newton's third law. The force of the cart pushed down on the track, and the track pushes up on the car. The car itself is a UFO and spins freely as it travels along the track. Approximately 1700 people can ride this thrill coaster in an hour. With 35 people per UFO, waiting in line for long period of time should not be an issue. …show more content…
When their heads jerk back when the ride suddenly moves forward, is known as an inertia jerk. Then the UFO travels up the 175 ft hill at a constant speed. Once at the top of the hill, the riders will experience the lowest air pressure of anywhere on the attraction. There will also be a large amount of potential energy at the top of the hill. Potential energy is stored energy, meaning an object has the potential to move or perform an action. The greatest amount of potential energy is at the top of the first hill because, at that point, it has the capacity to fall further than at any other point on the
Carowinds is compiled of many gravity-defying rides. Top Gun: The Jet Coaster is the Carolinas’ only inverted steel roller coaster. While on the ride, you are hurled through six swirling inversions while in the air. The Vortex is a stand-up roller coaster that takes you on a 50 m.p.h. series of loops and drops. Drop Zone Stunt Tower is a ride where you can experience the rush of gravity as you descend sixteen stories in seconds
Ever wondered how roller coasters work? It’s not with an engine! Roller coasters rely on a motorized chain and a series of phenomena to keep them going. Phenomena are situations or facts that have been observed and proven to exist. A few types of phenomena that help rollercoasters are gravity, kinetic and potential energy, and inertia. Gravity pulls roller coasters along the track as they’re going downhill. Potential and kinetic energy help rollercoasters to ascend hills and gain enough momentum to descend them and finish the track. Inertia keeps passengers pressed towards the outside of a loop-the-loop and in their seat. Gravity, potential and kinetic energy, and inertia are three types of phenomena that can be observed by watching roller
The basic design of a roller coaster consists of a train like coaster that starts out at the bottom of the tallest hill of the ride. The train is then pulled up the hill and is pulled to the top of the hill. As the train is pulled from the bottom of the hill to the top of it, the trains' potential energy is converted onto kinetic energy. Potential energy is defined as "the energy of an object at a height h above some zero level as equal to the work done by the force of gravity"2 (139). Kinetic energy is the energy of "an object . . . because of its motion"2 (132). As the distance between the ground and the train of cars increases, the potential energy of the train increases as well.
For some reason, NASA is just perfectly fine with watching men and women die right in front of them on their own computer screens. The man has been stuck up on Mars for 687 sols. That is 708 days in earth terms. Yes, he is the first person on to not only live, but survive on Mars for 708 days. That gives his hometown some huge publicity and major fame. All of this could have been avoided though. Mark could not gotten severely hurt during the mission. Mark could not have died multiple times while living on Mars. He could have not had to travel with one rover and all the way to the MAV. He could have not lived on limited water, while almost killing himself trying to create more water, while trying to maintain
“Even though roller coasters propel you through the air, shoot you through tunnels, and zip you down and around many hills and loops, they are quite safe and can prove to be a great way to get scared, feel that sinking feeling in your stomach, and still come out of it wanting to do it all over again (1).” Thanks to the manipulation of gravitational and centripetal forces humans have created one of the most exhilarating attractions. Even though new roller coasters are created continuously in the hope to create breathtaking and terrifying thrills, the fundamental principles of physics remain the same. A roller coaster consists of connected cars that move on tracks due to gravity and momentum. Believe it or not, an engine is not required for most of the ride. The only power source needed is used to get to the top first hill in order to obtain a powerful launch. Physics plays a huge part in the function of roller coasters. Gravity, potential and kinetic energy, centripetal forces, conservation of energy, friction, and acceleration are some of the concepts included.
The coaster then was clear for take off. The coaster made its way to the top of the first hill, and as the cart descended and turned the first corner, Rosa was thrown from the cart. Rosa dropped out of the cart onto a metal support beam more than 75 feet below the place where she was ejected and came to rest on top of the roof of a tunnel. When the famil...
Thanks for commenting. I agree with many of you points, however I do not believe that immigrants are taking the jobs of able Americans. Farm work, gardening, and other labor intensive jobs are not be filled by U.S. citizens (possibly having to do with low wages), so why would it be an issue if these immigrants decided to work in these fields? In addition to this, refugees can create their own businesses, so this doesn’t necessarily take jobs away from American workers. Unfortuanely there are many unemployed Americans, however in many cases, it is a matter of multiple applications and having the right skills. If people are not qualified for the job, then obviously it should be given to someone with the proper credentials. If immigrants have these skills then why wouldn’t a company want to hire them, versus someone who is lacking the specific background and or education?
Throughout the nation catastrophes occur on a daily basis; however there are a few catastrophes that have taken national precedence and left a traumatized nation. Most usually these catastrophes are an act of terrorism. Michael Nelson (2010) describes the nature of such terrorism catastrophes as disconcerting, unanticipated and that unnerve “the country’s sense of safety and identity” (p. 20). When such “a traumatic event results in the death of civilians” and “calls the nation’s institutions or values into question” the nation as a whole looks to their leader, our president, to offer solace and calm through a responsive speech (Campbell and Jamieson, 2008, p. 102). In Presidents Creating the Presidency, (2008) the authors have labeled these speeches as a national eulogy in which they usually occur at the sight of the
For over a thousand years people have reported seeing strange objects flying in the sky. Today the unknown flying objects -UFOs continue to visit us, on a regular basis. A large amount of recorded historical events of this issue have taken place to give the subject of UFOs recognition. Recently, many individuals have claimed to witness or be part of fantastic stories that attract some while are turned away. Videotapes, photographs and pieces of physical evidence do support some of these stories. Even more frightening, small objects called implants have been found in the bodies of some people that have reported strange sightings or encounters with strange objects. Once one begins to put it all together, the history, stories, claims, and evidence that science is to studying, the truth has come clear. We are not alone aliens do exist!
You apprehensively walk up the iron steps and onto the platform. You’re reluctant to go any further, but your friend eggs you on, saying, “It’s not that fast.” You step into the seat and pull the harness down over you. No, this isn’t the latest, greatest technological frontier. It’s a roller coaster. Since 1804 when the first wheeled roller coaster- called “Les Montagnes Russes”- was constructed in Paris, France, roller coasters have been a staple of adventure and fantasy among children and children-at-heart. But there’s no magic involved with these fantastic creations, there’s a plethora of forces and laws governing their every movement. From kinetic energy to inertia, roller coasters are intricate engineering marvels that function through the laws of physics. This is a look into those physics that result in a thrill ride unlike any other.
Specifically, I would like to present to you about different reasons why the Church of Epiphany, tied to L.A’s Chicano movement, should be preserved according to the article that I have read.
Imagine a quiet night with nothing but the sound of your friends’ laughter and the soft crackle of a campfire. All around you is darkness lit only by the moon and stars. Now imagine a bright light beaming down on you from above. The next thing you remember is waking up from a daze next to your friend, unable to explain what just happened. This is just one of many examples of what many people call alien abduction experiences. Despite the hundreds and thousands of people who have claimed similar abductions, scientists and skeptics still attempt to answer this mystery with more earthly explanations. Even though many people claim very similar alien abductions, researchers can reasonably explain this phenomenon.
Is there such thing as life outside of Earth? The building blocks of life are carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. Those ingredients condense to form all living things, new stars and even new planets! So, who’s to say those ingredients didn’t form other life on other planets? Think about how vast outer space is. There are millions and millions of other planets, stars and galaxies! It’s not that far out there to think that there might be other life in space, in fact, some people even have stone hard evidence that supports the idea of “aliens”. I personally believe there is such thing as extraterrestrials, and I believe they have visited earth before. As a child, I remember my dad and I would sit around all afternoon watching alien documentaries or shows about people hunting aliens and searching for UFOs. When it comes to aliens people have so many questions; have aliens been to earth before? Are they currently living on earth? Are they controlling us? Does the government know? If so, are they hiding it from the public? There are so many questions you can ask but, in order to answer them, you have to
First there’s cheeseburgers, corn dogs, pasta, pizza and etc. Basically that’s fast food, I guess you could say. For each station you push a button for what food you want and grab it.Then once you get your food you can start eating it. Second station is the drinks, you grab a traveling cup and push the button and choose your drink. Next comes the plastic containers, because maybe some people wanna take their food to go. Lastly, is the dessert’s and there’s anything you could ever want. Such as flavored ice cream, cakes, pies, cookies, whatever you would want. Once you push the button for which dessert you want, you take it to go or eat it. Now the ride is still going at 0.25 miles per hour. So you do have time to eat. Also it stops after you get your dessert for the people who are eating have more time. But soon it will start to go again, and on the way out, there are trash cans on each side of the ride.Eventually you exit the tubes and go on two small hills. Were you do feel an inertia jerk, but not really. Than you are going straight and slow which that is called friction. Now I hope you enjoyed the ride and had a good time riding it. I can’t wait to hear everyone’s opinion about “The
Undoubtedly, with over 10 000 cases, the sheer amount of reported UFO sightings and abductions is startling. In July 1947, an airborne object crashed on a ranch near Roswell, New Mexico. Rancher Mac Braezel examined the debris which appeared to be mostly metallic and plastic scraps. However, it was damaged beyond identification of its origin. He brought some of the material to his neighbours who attempted burning it, cutting it, and yet, it would not be damaged. They also tried bending it, too which it would dent momentarily before peculiarly molding back to its original form. Mac hurriedly contacted the local sheriff, who then, in disbelief, contacted two military officers to the debris field, also in dubiety, they brought some of the material they had found to the Roswell Army Air Base. Shortly thereafter, another local along with some students on an expedition, discovered a disk-shaped aircraft about two miles from the debris field, which had four small humanoid bodies scattered around its vicinity....
