There were many things I did well involving informative presentation. The first thing I did well was that I turned my outline in on time with the correct format. The second thing I did well was that I kept good posture, didn't have any vocal problems, and gave good gestures. The last thing I did well was that I paced myself and stayed within the time limit. There is only one area that needs improvement because I did very well. The key area that I need to improve is making more eye contact. I practiced three times at my house in front of my mom, but I obviously didn't practice enough. I improved on the things that I did not do well on last project, but didn't stress other things that I should have for this project. This project I
The presentation was also an impressive experience. I never made a presentation in front of “foreigners” in English before, so I was very nervous, however, the feedback from professor and other students was very important. I used the form, short story, but after the presentation, professor told me that I cannot use short story as form and some students suggested me to use an advertisement to convey my message. My project’s goal was also kind of ambiguous.
Two things that went well for me during this project were that I learned a lot more about March Madness and brackets during this project. I also met new people in my group and my new friends. Two things that went well for my group was that we all worked together really well and even though we did not win the championship we tried really hard. For my group, I helped wherever I was needed. I helped research our criteria and pick teams, I helped draw our bracket, and also helped write our reasonings for the winners of each round. I also helped present and argue for our team during presentations. Two things that did not go well for me during this project were that I didn’t know how a bracket worked and what teams played who. I also was confused towards the beginning of the project. Two things that did not go well for my group were that we did not make it to the final two and we did not win the national championship.
I have improved most in the WOVE area of visual communication this semester. Beginning the course, I did not know the correct way to create a powerpoint presentation that supports the speaker without being a distraction. This semester, I learned that only minimal wording is required on the slides to deliver the main points. The majority of the slideshow can be pictures, charts, or graphs, so long as it remains relevant to the topic. I specifically remember using this new technique for my part of the visual analysis presentation, keeping my bullet points to under five words, if possible.
The Informative speech was much harder for me to grasp on to right from the beginning, I knew what I need to do in general to be successful but my topic was so broad I had a hard time narrowing it down how I wanted to present the information. My introduction was
Bags and purses in schools have changed from being the schools property to personal property, because of one case. The New Jersey v. T.L.O court case gave a student a way to change privacy for students nationally. Even though in some situations the use of bags are turned into the institution belongings. It started with one flame in a foul school restroom with 2 negligent girls , both eager for a whiff of smoke. The teen had made the situation escalade by lying about even smoking the cigarette, which the school had curiosity about. Only the case didn't slide through the courts with ease there were many setbacks and misconceptions. The light of the case came from the existence of the fourth amendment dealing with personal privacy and reasonable
However, I did notice that there were a few faults in the presentation, one being a fault that I personally consider may have negatively impacted our presentation. It seems to me that I was not able to deliver the presentation to the best of my ability as I had let my nerves get the best of me when talking to the staff. The reason for this was that I was not comfortable with taking on the speaking role that I was given and that there were last minute changes made to my slides right before presenting. Bruner, (1996) stated that the learning process for staff relies on the “meaningful dialogue” that is presented by the presenters. In this case, I think that my speech was not strong enough to grab the audience’s attention, thus not being able to portray my message about what an Ofsted inspection is and what the results from an Ofsted inspection mean. Nevertheless, although I was not able to present to the quality that I had wished, the feedback received was reassuring that I had not done terribly bad. I was able to see myself grow as a presenter as I noticed that my
During the presentation I learned a lot about table etiquette. Learning that more interviews are being conducted over dinner was surprising to me, as well as the way the spoon is supposed to be dipped in the soup. During the dinner we practiced proper etiquette of passing thing correctly and I practiced proper spoon, knife, and fork use. We used the European use of the knife and fork. We also were told by the waiter that the flowers were edible.
I could have tried to make ti so that when I was done I could have tied the whole analogy together and made it connect to all the skills that I said I have improved on. For showing my progress as a learner I think the way that I presented was one of the main things that showed some of my progress making it so that you could actually here me when I was giving my presentation which is something that has always been a problem when I have to talk in front of people. I also think that even though at the end of my presentation I didn’t obviously say my over all opinion about how I have improved I thought my evidence that I had given through out the presentation worked well with the points that I was trying to say I improved on. Along with making sure that what I was comparing it to was very specific so that people didn’t start to think of another part of the project that I was using that I might to have improved on confusing them. Over all I think that my POL compared to others was not to bad. I think for sure that I did better then last year because of how I presented this time
We done the support team over skype. In my idea it wasn’t that bad it helped me to be more confidante talking front of others about my problem. I didn’t expect much from others because they were nervous about their own presentation and we were thinking how to present from others. I got good feed backs from others and my presentation wasn’t complete by the time we were talking about it. I tried my best to help others in areas that they were struggling in like time or the way that they talking but it was hard to comment on each o0ther work because we tried our best. In my idea the tree parts that I had strength in more than others were nonverbal compunction, eye contact and my delivery of content was good as well (that’s what I think). The first part that I missed I think was the quoting part. As said before my papers got mixed a little and I lost the track of quoting. Im not sure but I think I could be more prepare than this. I done personation before and I think that was one of the top five but it wasn’t the number one that I wanted to be. And last part which is not in the grading book is I didn’t talk that much about what I’m going to do in the
Making a successful public presentation or speech to an audience was a very big task for me before I joined the public speaking class. I was always frightened and very nervous. Since then I now understand the process of making a speech or a presentation including coming up with a topic and from this topic develop the main points of the speech, research, organize my points, revise them, edit and make a magnificent presentation to any audience. People in the audience might sometimes agree or disagree with my opinion or points, it was therefore necessary to communicate my information clearly to the audience without making any judgments since every person was entitled to a different opinion and views about things.

Enrolling in this course seemed to be challenging and out of reach for me at the beginning, but as we completed our first few lectures and assignments I knew that I would undoubtedly improve my reading, speaking, and analyzation skills in Spanish. It came time for creating our first presentation, which would be presented in front of the entire class, without note cards all from memory. I never really had to read, analyze, and summarize an article in any of my previous courses, especially in Spanish. While taking Spanish classes in high school, I was just handed a worksheet with specific instructions to prepare a PowerPoint and note cards about casual and nonchallenging things. Even though I was captain of my speech team for my junior and senior year of high school, I have never been the best at giving presentations in front of my peers individually.
Based on one of the few recordings of my speech, I noticed many things I didn 't know before. For instance, I notice the times where I didn’t remember my lines, so I refer back to my notes. If I were to rate myself I would give myself 8 out of 10 because my presentations all met the minimum requirement. Although I still need to work on my extemporaneous delivery skills and writing the attention grabber part of the introduction. The outline helps keep my speech organized but it takes while to write it. I like adding visual aids to my presentations because it makes the slides fun to look at.
Practice is a major role that needs to be played when it comes to presenting. Practicing, I feel gives you more confidence in your speech, and more preparation than if you were to not practice. Rehearsing before the speech then presenting makes you seem like you actually know what you are talking about even if the only reason you know all these facts is because of study and practicing. Practicing through my speech really helps me with my presentation, if I practice enough, I feel very confident to where I wouldn’t need t a paper to look at notes during the speech. This concept is important for anything. Practicing will always help you with any future task.
I had a lot of information on my mind, but the tension obstructed the flow of my words. Therefore I could not speak continuously, and accurately to the point. The fact that English is not my native language might have also been a reason for this. Therefore I was not satisfied with my performance.
