Marijuana has an immediate effect during and for about 2 hours after smoking. With alcohol, users feel slight effects after just one drink, and recover depending on the amount the person drank, how much they weigh, and how much they had to eat before ingesting the alcohol. Immediate effects of use are slurred speech, decreased inhibitions, poor judgment, and lack of motor coordination. Marijuana causes red eyes, dry mouth, increased appetite, slowed reaction, paranoia, hallucinations, decreased social inhibitions, and memory loss. Drinking heavy amounts of alcohol can lead to a coma or even death. A person would have to smoke 40,000 times the amount to get high to overdose, so it is practically impossible. Alcohol is responsible for over 100,000 deaths per year. Marijuana kills less than 10,000 per year.

Medical Marijuana: Why or Why not? Marijuana was first introduced by the Chinese back in the B.C (before Christ) time period where it existed as a substance that carried the ability to achieve euphoria or a “high” as we refer to it today. In the early 4200s B.C. Marijuana was better known for its medicinal value where it was being used to treat rheumatism, gout and malaria (Narcocon International). Of course, society at the time was aware of the other effects marijuana had, however at the time, they primarily focused on the medication capacity marijuana contained. Fast forward to 2015, where the medical use of marijuana is the biggest controversial topic, where society views marijuana more of a harmful substance than a solution to nearly all of the medical conditions people encounter.
Medical marijuana is an extremely effective medication. Medical cannabis is used to treat patients with a medical problem. Marijuana legalization can help save lives, create jobs, and better our society. In order to purchase medical cannabis, one must have a medical card. There is so many competitive cannabis clubs, but they are not located in proper places such as next to a school or close to a church.

Visible rivers, meadows and other agricultural lands are perfect dwellings for cannabis since all contain good sunlight. Seeds brought in from Thailand are grown without being cut back and later becomes a large female plant, crossing with a cut from a male plant of Mexican origin bringing about a hybrid seed which is stored for later planting. This is called representative of the outdoor growth of cannabis in calm climates. Seeds are planted in the spring and usually germinate in 3-7 days. Seedling arise from the ground by the aligned order of the embryotic stem. The cotyledons which are the seeds are hardly unequal in size, narrowed to the base and rounded to the tip. The embryotic stem grazing from 1-10 centimeters in length. About 10 centimeters or less above the cotyledons, the first true leaves originate, a pair of diversely adjusted single leaflets each with a distinct petiole which is the leaf stem, rotated one quarter length from the cotyledons. If plants aren’t surrounded, the limbs will grow from small buds located at the intersection of petioles within the main stem. Each sinsemilla; the seedless drug cannabis plant is replenished with plenty of room to grow long axial limbs and extensive fine roots to increase floral production. Cannabis displays a dual response to day length; during the first two or three months of growth it acts in the return of larger amounts of day length with a stronger gro...
In America, marijuana is the most used drug after alcohol and tobacco. Marijuana is used by millions of Americans, despite the harsh laws illegalizing the drug. Some states, such as Washington and Colorado have legalized marijuana for recreational use. Efforts to legalize the drug in other states have been unsuccessful such as Proposition 19 in California, which failed in 2010 despite uptight campaigns. Billions of dollars are spent at the state, local, and federal level to fight the use of marijuana. Millions are arrested for marijuana offenses and sentenced for extended periods. Marijuana has negative effects on the human health and high potential for addiction. Legalizing marijuana will eliminate the black market, which is responsible for the increase in violence, crime, and corruption. Resources used for mass incarceration in the war on drug can be redirected to rehabilitation to decrease drug abuse and addiction.
... made the story go in my favor when I should have called earlier to tell them that I would arrive late because of what happened. Instead, I waited for them to call me on my way up. All of the effort I had put into the past three months at work are now diminished by my one ignorant action of not calling and lying when I arrived. I could have simplified the situation by just calling in when I knew I would be late and come clean up front, instead, I blew the whole situation out of proportion and tried to make myself seem like a victim. I have lost the trust of my peers and superiors that were involved.

There has always been controversy about marijuana and the affects it has on health and the issue of legalization. Some people believe it is very destructive to one’s health, and yet others feel the complete opposite about it. Is Marijuana truly harmful to one’s health? “Marijuana, the Deceptive Drug”, written by George Bierson, was published in the Massachusetts News. In this article, Bierson determines that marijuana is harmful in many ways. He seems to think that it damages the brain, the reproductive system, and also contributes to the halt of production in the immune system. Bierson also tries to persuade the reader that marijuana is a “gateway drug” that leads to larger drugs in the future. However, by conducting research of my own, I have come to the conclusion that Bierson’s article simply lacks truth.
ThMy experience with stopping marijuana usage was challenging and enlightening, but I am currently abstinent without cravings and intend to remain mostly sober moving forward. I have deemed myself a recreational user, one who does not suffer from the categorical classification of a substance disorder, and I currently believe I can moderately control my usage. After explaining my reasoning for defining myself as a recreational user, I will systemically explore, along with relevant theoretical constructs learned in the addictions course, the ways I conceptualize my various stages of change. In this discussion, I will address my slip back into using. Then, I will share the applied techniques for monitoring my use and the support I received
People have been fighting for the legalization of marijuana for a long time. Many people use this drug and find absolutely nothing wrong with it. Others find it disgusting and are opposed to the legalization of it. The earliest use of marijuana was documented in 7000 B.C. The ancient Greeks, Egyptians, and many others used it for medical purposes. Marijuana was first used in the United States during the 1800’s and was banned in 1937 without any reason given by the government except that “it was for our own good” (Block, “Why Marijuana Became Illegal”). Marijuana should be legal everywhere in the world because, although it is highly addictive, marijuana is not as harmful as tobacco and alcohol, having a regulated market for it would reduce the sale and use of it amongst people under the age of eighteen, and the government can save and make money off of it.

The use of drugs have always been a controversial topic. They impact our morals, religious views, and most of all, our health. The use of marijuana, both medically and recreationally, dates as far back as 12,000 years ago, making it one of the earliest cultivated crops (Marijuana). In many instances, the cannabis plant was not used for psychedelic purposes. Marijuana comes from the cannabis plant, as does hemp, which has low THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, the psychoactive part of marijuana, and therefore was rarely used for medicinal, much less recreational purposes (Baron). Prehistoric people used hemp for clothing and building materials, rather than medicine or recreation. A physician and scientist who graduated from the University of Edinburgh,
