Everyone loves summer. They look forward all year to the gorgeous weather, no school, and the endless fun of hanging with your friends whenever you want. There are many activities to do in the summer and one of them would be attending your state or county fair. I grew up in Bettendorf, IA which is a part of the Quad Cities. In the Quad Cities, the Mississippi Valley Fair is one week towards the end of summer which draws in a large crowd. The fair is something that people anticipate all summer long and can’t wait for the arrival of fair week. With the use of pathos, the county creates billboards, advertisements, attractions, entertainment and those amazing corn dogs and lemonades that emotionally appeal to the audience. All of these actions draw the audience in and create reasons for why they would want to attend the Mississippi Valley Fair. The audience could be the local county people, but they could also be anyone who has caught word or seen one of the many forms of advertisements from the fair. The fair interests many different people of all ages because of the unique …show more content…
attractions. At the Mississippi Valley Fair you can buy a fun card which admits you into the fairgrounds, and all the concerts for $50.That is one deal that can draw in a large crowd who not only enjoy the concerts but the atmosphere of the fair as well. Walking up to the fairgrounds, you can feel the excitement in the air. Pathos appeals to the emotion of the audience. The shiny bright lights and the huge welcome signs at all the gates creates a welcoming feeling to the customers. Instantly, the customers feel at ease and know they will have a fun time. Along, with the lights and welcome signs, there are great prices at the gates that emotionally appeal to the audience because they don’t feel like they are having to pay a lot to get in. This can create a relieving feeling. However, the overpriced but delicious corndogs, turkey legs, lemonades, and funnel cakes definitely make up for the cheap entrance fee. Nothing beats the smell of some finger-licking good fair food. The smell of the turkey legs, corndogs, and funnel cakes draws the buyer in. It immediately appeals to everyone. It is a rare sight to see someone at the fair who has not tried one of the famous corn dogs. The smell of the food inflicts an emotion of comfort. The use of pathos with the overpriced food works very well because people barely notice the prices since they are so overwhelmed by the delicious smell and taste of the food offered at the fair. Not only can you get some amazing food, but don’t forget about overly advertised alcohol. Everywhere you turn at the fairgrounds, an alcohol tent is near. Having easy access to alcohol appeals to the adults and attracts them to the fair. Alcohol can symbolize fun and excitement. So by using pathos, the county is able to express the emotions of fun and excitement through the use of the easy accessible and highly advertised alcohol. You can’t have a county fair without the well-known amusement park ride, the Ferris wheel.
The Mississippi Valley Fair not only has the Ferris wheel, but they also have some popular fair rides that create an atmosphere full of thrill. For example, the tilt-a-whirl and sling-shot are two popular fair attractions. These rides attract kids, which then attract their parents and ends up drawing in many families to the fairgrounds. The roller-coasters and fair rides are a great way to persuade people to come to the fair. Even just hearing the word roller-coaster, I can already feel my heart beat faster in anticipation for the huge adrenaline rush I get from the rides. The feeling of your stomach dropping and the wind blowing through your hair are two great feelings that I enjoy and I’m sure others do as well. These attractions appeal to people because of the thrill and excitement they
bring. Last but not least and probably the biggest attraction to the Mississippi Valley Fair, is the concerts they show every night. Music appeals to many people because it is known for bringing out emotions in people. The fair has some great bands that come every year. This past summer, I attended The Band Perry concert and it was honestly one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. Music is a crowd pleaser and can have an uplifting spirit to it that people look forward to. I felt like I was on cloud 9 while jamming out at that concert. These concerts not only bring in a ton of revenue for the county, but they create an atmosphere of fun and carefree living. That is what the fair is all about. The Mississippi Valley Fair attracts a vast audience every year because of its amazing food, entertainment, and advertisements that entice people into attending. People of all ages make it out to fair week and chances are they have a great time. I know my friends and I enjoy ourselves every year and will keep coming back every summer. The county does a great job of persuading their audience to come out through the use of pathos. Pathos is an emotional appeal. Because of the delicious corn dogs, great concerts, thrilling rides, and persuading advertisements, the emotions of fun, excitement, and comfort are able to appeal to the people who attend the Mississippi Valley Fair.
In “Toddlers In Tiaras” Skip Hollandsworth purpose is to get readers to understand Pageants are fun but can also be dangerous many predators attend them to seek out their next victim. Pageants can be very overwhelming and sometimes affects the participants in the long run. His exigency is the unknowing exploitation of little girls who are decorated with makeup, fancy clothes, and extensions added to their hair and the death of JonBenet Ramsey was taken serious but is believed to be a consequence of being in a pageant. “We love the beautiful dresses and the big hairstyles. We love the bling and makeup. We love our girls showing lots and lots of style, and we love seeing them sparkle”(Annette Hill). In the article Skip is speaking to many types of audiences.
In the annals of World's Fairs, the 1901 Buffalo fair is listed, as a matter of record. However, it is one of the lesser-remembered fairs. This is not due to a lack of planning or physical appeal, but rather to the fact that on September 6, 1901, President William McKinley was shot and killed at the Temple of Music. This was the kind of event that is so infamous and carries such bad press that it condemns everything it touches, from the setting, the surrounding events, and the people involved, to the same black blanket of notoriety. Due to the President's assassination, the popularity of the Fair spiraled downward. Despite the deploring of the Fair, however, it was home to some remarkable buildings.
...the people of the US a glimpse of alien cultures that many of them had never heard of, much less seen and learned about. In a way, the fair was a cultural awakening for most of the people of the United States. Suddenly, people from Missouri could tell their friends and families that they had seen Camels, or men from Japan. 27 million people went to see the fair, the vast majority of them Americans. That was a little less than half of the population of the country at this time. That many people seeing cultures and people that many had never heard of would have caused a dramatic effect, transforming the people of this country into a more cultured, worldly people.
The rides at The Pavilion are not as adrenaline rushing as the rides at Carowinds. Top Spin is a lot like a Ferris wheel and a boat in one. While one part of the ride is going

In 2012, the new CEO of Cedar Fair Entertainment announced a new Long Term Growth Strategic plan for the company. The plan is known as the FUNforward and financial goals for the Company. The CEO is headed in this direction because of the significant barriers to entry and a loyal high-repeated customer base as well as the significant momentum that they have created for the Company over the past two record-setting years (Rotting Flesh Radio RSS, 2012). For example, Kings Dominion is one of the largest theme parks on the East Coast and the loyalty of the younger generation is outstanding. The park is located in an area that is very convenient off of interstate 95. Most parents use the theme park as a baby sitter. They drop their kids off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon after work. The park is so big and it caters to the younger generation and it adds a new ride every couple of years to make the park even more attractive to its customers.
`The Minnesota State Fair is the second largest state fair in total attendance next to the Texas State Fair. Personally I have attended the wonderful Minnesota State Fair for 5 years now. Minnesota is a great place to live, because there are 4 seasons in a year, has the Minnesota State Fair and has winter activities.
Valley Fair offers me a day of no worries. Once I walk into the park, all my worries drift away. Whenever my family goes to Valley Fair, I let myself forget all my worries and fears for a day. I do not care what my future holds, but care only about what I am doing at that point in time. Valley Fair is my haven!
I have always been fascinated by carnival rides. It amazes me that average, ordinary people eagerly trade in the serenity of the ground for the chance to be tossed through the air like vegetables in a food processor. It amazes me that at some time in history someone thought that people would enjoy this, and that person invented what must have been the first of these terrifying machines. For me, it is precisely the thrill and excitement of having survived the ride that keeps me coming back for more.
Amusement parks are by far one of the most thrilling places on earth. As you wait in a long line to get in park, you can hear numerous kids, adults, and tourist shouting off the top of their lungs due to a tremendous jaw-dropping drop on their beloved roller coasters.
I am going into event planning, in the sector of the hospitality industry. Event planning industry is on the rise and is not glued to one specific genre, hence, there are several to choose from. Event planning is needed for all sorts of occasions such as, birthday parties, weddings, fundraisers, product launches, concerts, anniversaries, fashion shows, conferences, graduations, business meetings, and much more! It is an industry that will never stop growing and improving. Specifically, an event planner job includes working with clients, creating a positive self-image, networking with clients, and personal and financial gain.
When I heard my parents talking about going to Disney World I was so excited. It was a long trip down to Florida and I could not sit still, because I was so excited. We finally arrived that evening and decided to stay in a hotel near the theme park. When it was time for bed I could not go to sleep for a long time, because I was so excited about going at Disney world. When I saw the big mirror ball from the entrance, I was amazed. Disney world had a wide variety of rides. There were tons of rides that shocked me. Some of these rides made you feel like you were riding in a jet because of how fast they were. There was even a roller coaster ride in the huge mirror ball. It was a slow ride, but I still liked it because there was air conditioning inside the ball. We spent all day at the park until we had ridden everything. That night Disney World had a firework show. The fireworks seemed like they lasted forever with the amazing colors bursting in the air one right after another. When the firework show finally ended my parents told me that it was time to leave. I was...
