On a cold November day in Savage, Minnesota 2000, a 17 year old boy named Cody was playing basketball in his driveway. Cody was 5’11, had long brown hair, green eyes and had a handsome look. He was always smiling and he was a nice guy, but very competitive. Basketball was Cody’s one passion and basketball was going to start soon, so he needed to shape up for basketball. He was working really hard, because he knew that he was going to make the varsity team and the basketball season was starting tomorrow. The next morning came and Cody felt good. Then he called Cody in to give his side of the story. Cody told him what happened and the Coach said, “Cody I know you're better than this why are you letting him get to you?” Cody replied, “ I’m sorry coach, but he's just messing with my head and I just can’t take it.” The coach says “ If this happens again you're off the team, but I know you can block him out, so I have faith in you Cody. Now get out of here.”
Cody left and when he got home, he played basketball to let all the angry out and after a couple of hours he went inside. He finished his homework and went to sleep, still a little bad at Kevin. He woke up the next morning with a clear hit and everything seemed to be going great. It is May now and school is almost over. Cody couldn’t wait for summer where he could train all summer to try to get better and better at basketball. Summer came fast, but it went even faster Cody got really good at basketball and is now the best one on the varsity team, but he will still continue to work hard no matter how good he is.
Basketball is in two months and Cody can’t wait to show off his new skills and be able to play again. The two months felt like forever, the school days felt longer than ever. Then after two months it was finally basketball season. He got to the first practice and the coach was amazed by his recovery and improvement. He played his senior year of basketball better than any one. He led the team to state and they won.
After that he got offers from colleges to play basketball and he ended up deciding to go to Duke which offered him a full scholarship. Cody never made it to the NBA, but he was a starter on the Duke basketball team for his whole college career. Today Cody looks back to the day he tore his ACL and thinks it helped him learn how to work hard no matter
