Over the years, the world has evolved and many debatable topics have arisen. In my opinion, one has become even more profound as the years have gone on. If this phenomenon became a reality, every living thing in the world would be greatly affected. It would even alter the world as we know it. The question, “Are aliens real?”, has been around for hundreds of years and has puzzled many professors and scientists. No one knows for sure, but I have faith that these extraterrestrial beings are not just a myth. Over the years, too much unexplainable, ancient and scientific evidence has been uncovered for nothing else to be out there. There is no doubt in my mind that aliens are real. According to James C. Fernald, the word Alien means, an “unnaturalized foreigner” or a “stranger” (19). This definition might cause people to fear aliens, because they do not want to face unnatural situations; and we were always told not to talk to strangers. Most people that believe in Aliens might think they have the intentions to harm us due to this definition, but …show more content…
Professor Leo Sprinkle thinks otherwise. He claims that, “Extraterrestrials are visiting earth in order to rejuvenate the planet and to help humankind enter another stage of evolution” (Shuch, 103). He makes a good point, but it could be a little far fetched. Although, everyone has their own theory of what aliens look like and how they act. “Chairman of the upper house of Parliament Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloev noted that, “War is very dangerous...we know there is life on other planets, but we must make peace here first’ ” (Vandita, online). As our technology has advanced over the years, numerous scientific discoveries have been made involving ancient civilizations. Along with these civilizations have come a handful of questionable monuments and ancient artifacts that could, possibly, point to aliens. “Egyptian hieroglyphics show what appear to be images of a helicopter, submarine, boat, and a jet airplane. Many believe this is proof that aliens once visited the ancient Egyptians, arriving in their advanced technology. . .”(“15 facts supporting Extraterrestrial Life”, online). This is a huge breakthrough, for there is a slim chance the Egyptians would have known what was to come nearly 5000 years later. Aliens would have had to have something to do with it, and there is proof of this. Supposedly, Egyptian artifacts were found in a Jerusalem home, including two mummified bodies. They were less than four feet tall with elongated heads, large eye sockets, and long spindly arms. These artifacts sound like they could possibly be alien in nature (“UFO and Alien Egyptian Artifacts Discovered, online). Some say these artifacts could merely be small children, but when you look at the big picture, it all adds up. I am fairly certain that these ancient artifacts are proof of early aliens, because this is not the only civilization that holds extraterrestrial evidence. Another ancient society that has been connected to extraterrestrial visitors is the Mayan civilization. Due to their advanced technology, the demise of the civilization has always been a huge mystery. One theory, was that their disappearance was the work of aliens (“Riviera Maya Travel Guide”, online). Many people believe that the Mayan people were given alien technology. If this was true, it would explain how they were able to build such insurmountable creations. It is also possible that this alien technology is what led to their demise (“Ancient Aliens”, online). One theory is that the civilization became more powerful than the aliens themselves and things got out of hand. The same thing might have happened to the Lost City of Atlantis. Atlantis was another incredibly advanced civilization that vanished out of thin air. There is a theory that this region of land fell into the ocean, but this theory does not have much proof, considering the piece of land was never found. Therefore, it makes more sense for something more powerful to have caused their demise. Were aliens responsible for this civilization’s disappearance, also? Supposedly, many people believe that extraterrestrial beings were responsible for the creation and fall of this city (“Ancient Aliens: Myths of Atlantis”, online). Ancient civilizations are not the only things that have interesting stories involving aliens, though. The monuments built in those civilizations are equally as intriguing when it comes to the extraterrestrial. A natural phenomenon with a lot of evidence that points to the presence of aliens, are the Nazca Lines. These lines were etched into a stone at such high altitudes that flight would have had to have been involved. The only problem is, in 500 BC, planes had not been invented yet (Golomb, online). That means the lines would have had to be created by something with extremely advanced technology. That something just might have been aliens. I believe the Nazca Lines are not the only ancient monument that has encountered extraterrestrial life. Monuments located on Easter Island have been suspected work of aliens as well. These intriguing, stone monuments are called The Moai of Easter Island. They are believed to be the creations of aliens who wanted to leave their mark on the island (“10 things you don't know about”, online). No one knows why they would want to leave a mark, though. We might be able to uncover the answer to that question by looking at some ancient evidence found a couple thousand years later, in the 15th century. A piece of artwork created by Domenico Ghirlandaio has puzzled many people. It depicts the Virgin Mary and a man with his dog staring up at a hovering disk-like object in the sky (“Ancient Aliens” History, online). The object looks like a UFO, but how would someone know anything about them five centuries before the first UFO sighting? This makes people wonder if civilizations in the past knew more about these creatures than we do now. The Book of Ezekiel proves that people knew about alien life, even earlier than Domenico Ghirlandaio.
Ezekiel's Wheel is one of the most interesting ancient UFO accounts in the bible. It dates back to 593 BC and can be found in Ezekiel 1:16 (“UFOs in the Bible”, online). In the story of Ezekiel’s Wheel, Ezekiel says to have seen a bronze object come out of the sky and deposit four living creatures. He says the creatures were in the form of men with four wings and four faces. They had straight legs, calf’s hooves as feet, and were a sparkling bronze (Holy Bible, 861). As the story goes, the creatures had a wheel alongside them, and that is where the name of the story came from. “...Bible historians suggest Ezekiel was speaking symbolically about the terrifying enemies facing Israel. This could be more historic proof of alien visitation and proof that pre-historic aircraft existed” (“Ezekiel’s Wheels”,
online). There is not only historic proof that confirms alien life exists, but there is also scientific proof. Scientists think there are 500 billion galaxies, with the most distant visible galaxy being 78,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 miles away. There is obviously enough room for aliens in this world (“Do We Know how much Space is out there?”, online). Not to mention, there are 100 billion stars in our galaxy and from 20% to 50% are thought to harbor planetary systems (“When will We discover alien life?”, online). Which means, up to half of the planets out there could possibly sustain life. “The oceans are truly an alien planet right here on earth, though. We’ve explored less than 5% of our oceans, which contain 80% of all life on earth” (“Its 2011 & We Know more about Space than our Own Oceans”, online). So, how do we know “aliens” are not inhabitants of the ocean? “To assume that intelligent life does not exist elsewhere is equivalent to saying that life does not exist in the ocean, based on observing one cup of ocean water” (“Do intelligent extraterrestrial life forms exist?”, online. Although, most Americans do believe that we are not alone in the universe. A poll conducted by YouGov, found that 54% of Americans believe that intelligent alien life exists (Main, online). This large percentage most likely increased after hearing this statement by NASA. “ ‘I think we are going to have strong indications of life beyond earth within a decade, and I think we are going to have definitive evidence within 20 to 30 years,’ NASA chief scientist Ellen Stofan said” (Wall, online). A couple types of strong indications have already surfaced, though. These two types are UFO sightings and alien abduction reports. Since records have begun being recorded, California has had the most, with 11,202. Florida, Texas, and Washington have had around 5,000 each. New York and Arizona have had about 4,000 apiece, and that is just to name a few of the numerous states with a large history of UFO sightings. There were 1,177 UFO sightings reported to the National UFO reporting center in 2014 alone (Tan, online). That number has gone up each year. Some reports were hoaxes, of course, but there were also some made by extremely reliable sources. “Ohio State University researchers picked up a signal coming from nearly 220 million light years away that was so powerful, it was named the ‘Wow Signal’. Scientists are baffled as to how a signal so strong could come from so far away without the use of advanced technology” (“15 facts supporting extraterrestrial life”, online). What I think, is that “advanced technology” could have been used by alien life. Another reliable source who has claimed to have seen a UFO is a former astronaut. “Buzz Aldrin has...spoken of his own experience on board the Apollo 11 when they [his crew] saw something flying alongside them. At first they thought it was the final stage of the detached rocket, until mission control confirmed it was 6000 miles away from them…” (Ancient Aliens”, online). When you think about it, there is not many things that could've been other than a spaceship. Either way, it is still an unidentified flying object to this day. Some less reliable eyewitnesses to UFO’s have had even more intriguing experiences. The very first UFO sighting was made on February 24, 1942, when a large aircraft was spotted in Los Angeles, California, and believed to be a Japanese enemy aircraft. What contradicted this prediction was that, when bombarded with a barrage of bullets, the mystery aircraft was never hit and quickly disappeared. Not one piece of debris was ever found (Apuzzo, online). A couple years later, in the seventh month of 1947, there was an unidentified flying object that crashed on a ranch northwest of Roswell, New Mexico. A rancher found the debris and sent it to the Roswell Army Air Field. When questioned about the odd material found, they said they had been tracking an unidentified flying object in the skies over Southern Mexico for four days, until radar indicated the object had gone down (“1947 Roswell UFO incident”, online). To this day, no one knows for sure what the mysterious objects were. No one, for sure, knows what happens to people when they are “supposedly” abducted by aliens, either. There are still hundreds of abduction cases, nonetheless. The first known abduction case was the Barney and Betty Hill case. “Barney and Betty Hill were an American couple who were allegedly abducted by extraterrestrials in a rural portion of New Hampshire on September 19, 1961 through September 20, 1961” (“Betty and Barney Hill abduction case”, online). Some say that the couple made it all up, but could what was found nearly 200 years earlier have proven their claims? Scientists examining the remains of Napoleon Bonaparte found a half-inch long microchip embedded in his skull. This could prove that, when he supposedly was abducted in July of 1794, he was telling the truth, because back then microchips were nonexistent (Datiken, online). This story has made me believe that both abduction cases, are truly, what they are said to be. One hot spot for alien sightings and abductions is Area 51. According to Knapton, “The existence of Area 51 has been a badly kept secret for decades and it has fuelled the imaginations of conspiracy theorists and UFO hunters around the world” (online). Area 51 is most famously believed to be a center for research on aliens and UFOs (“What We Know about Area 51 in 60 seconds”, online). After listening to an interview done by a retired CIA agent, this belief appears to be true. On March 5th, 2013, a former CIA agent made claims of alien contact, Area 51, and UFO knowledge that he learned of while working. He only had a couple months left to live and he thought his claims were too important for people not to know about. The man said that Area 51 had been in contact with alien life and had not disclosed any information, because they did not think the world would be able to handle it (Dying CIA agent reveals US government Alien Contact, online). In conclusion, there is evidence that aliens could exist, but none that they, for sure, do not (“Do intelligent extraterrestrial life forms exist?”, online). That is enough, to make me a believer. There is far too much evidence for humans, plants, and animals to be the only forms of life to ever exist. The question should no longer be, “Is there life beyond earth?” We should now ask, “Will we ever find it” (Orwig, online)?
All of these definitions are exact and significant to this research because sometimes it is obvious people are unaware of the true meanings of these words. The meanings of extraterrestrials and aliens have been commonly misinterpreted. An extraterrestrial is something, living or nonliving, which is not from earth, while an alien can be something from earth, but is not native to its surroundings. An unidentified flying object is something that has never been officially recorded. In this case, the witnesses refer to th...
Ever look up at the sky and just wonder if there is life anywhere else? Have you seen anything in the sky that is almost unexplainable? What if your thoughts really came true? The thought of the existence of aliens seems to have been around since the beginning of time. There is one incident in particular that really hits home when talking about the subject, the UFO incident of Roswell, New Mexico.
Extraterrestrial life has been a major topic for quite some time now, but has really escalated in the past two centuries. The movie we watched in class was called Extraordinary: The Stan Romanek Story. This movie so closely resembles the recent spike in activity that it seems to be the perfect example. This particular case had close to 200 different cases of videos, pictures, phone calls, health reports, and other forms of documentation. In my personal opinion, I believe that these cases were part of a hoax. Don’t get me wrong, I guarantee that there is life out there in the universe besides just us, but in this case, I do not believe Stan Romanek’s pleadings in the film.
The idea of their being a more intelligent life form in the universe could push scientists to create new technology. An example of this is when the Soviet Union launched its first satellite, Sputnik, into orbit around the Earth. Soon after that, the United States created the National Aeronautical and Space Administration, or NASA, to start developing space technology. This created the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union because neither country wanted to lose to the other. During World War II, various medical advancements were made out of necessity. The discovery of penicillin, the use of morphine as a painkiller and the importance of plasma in blood transfusions. The medical world would be dramatically different than it is today, if those advancements had not been made. The advancements were made out of necessity because if not the number of causalities would have been larger. From the previous examples, it is easy to see that the threat of being inferior or the idea of losing lives can cause a push in advancement. By thinking and talking about the idea of aliens, society has the potential to become more advanced in countless
This word nowadays brings negative connotations which cause those who are immigrants in the U.S to be viewed as awful, dreadful, atrocious beings. The reason why this word is viewed as negative in our society is due to the fact that according to the Cambridge Dictionaries Online the word “alien” means “relating to creatures from another planet.” Some of the many synonyms that are similar to this word’s definition is exotic, strange, repugnant, and even extraterrestrial. At first for almost 200 years American politicians have used this word to denote foreign nationals, but over the years, this word gained its Science-Fiction definition as something or someone out of this world. So now in the present the word alien has taken implications of being a criminal, or imaginably less human. In short, this is the reason why many immigrants in the U.S do not like to be characterized negatively since it gives them a bad image and it does affect them when applying to a job. It’s so ironic that many immigrants are willing to get a job but just one word could ruin it all for them for that
... highly equipped technology that humans do not have yet, while others insist these are just one of many hoaxes. Believing these are made by aliens will impact greatly on current society because the biggest religion in the world will be proved wrong. Some even say it is impossible for aliens to exist, but we must leave both options open, since we can never predict the future. Even a few hundred years ago, humans thought the earth was flat. Then we found out the earth is not the center of the universe. Recently, we can now travel to other stars and only collect samples. Because we know not even 1% about the universe, I think anything can be possible. Just a week ago, a news released that Vaticans are holding a conference for possible alien beings(fox). Maybe, we humans are just getting adopted to accept other intelligent beings as planned by unknown sources.
Researchers have found a few different theories that can explain some aspects of people claiming to experience alien abductions, but they have not been able to account for every abduction case (Pelletier and Patry). So far, there has not been a theory that was able to perfectly decode the mystery of alien abductions (Pelletier and Patry). All of the theories of why “abductees” claim to be abducted by aliens are possible, however, they require further research and examination. The concept of extraterrestrials has affected many aspects of society. Relying on just what the “abductees” say as true evidence is an important decision that can change the universe as we know it.
We may never know what lays beyond our night sky. It may be nothing, or our Government may be hiding everything from us, perhaps our President is behind these cases as well. This is the mystery that will trouble us for generations, but using evidence such as the LA shooting back in World War II, It is easy to gleam that: Aliens, Do, Exist.
Intelligent life outside of Earth is one of the most debated topics in The United States of America. There are plenty of shows on television about it and supposedly there has been thousands of sightings all throughout America. Our government is thought of to have encountered and held extraterrestrials. Area 51 is where everyone theorizes that we hold and run tests on aliens, even though there is little evidence. There are also ancient stories told about “gods” coming down and doing inhuman things. In cave paintings you can find UFOs in the pictures, even back then they somehow knew of these flying objects. Most people do not want to recognize that our universe is so vast it would be more likely that there is intelligent life out there than there is not. It is possible that the general population is afraid to acknowledge Aliens’ existence because they cannot imagine a species being more advanced and smarter than us. Another reason people fail to recognize them is because the media has made these “creatures” very far fetched with
Is there such thing as life outside of Earth? The building blocks of life are carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. Those ingredients condense to form all living things, new stars and even new planets! So, who’s to say those ingredients didn’t form other life on other planets? Think about how vast outer space is. There are millions and millions of other planets, stars and galaxies! It’s not that far out there to think that there might be other life in space, in fact, some people even have stone hard evidence that supports the idea of “aliens”. I personally believe there is such thing as extraterrestrials, and I believe they have visited earth before. As a child, I remember my dad and I would sit around all afternoon watching alien documentaries or shows about people hunting aliens and searching for UFOs. When it comes to aliens people have so many questions; have aliens been to earth before? Are they currently living on earth? Are they controlling us? Does the government know? If so, are they hiding it from the public? There are so many questions you can ask but, in order to answer them, you have to
The term illegal alien is dehumanizing because the phrase aliens has been used to describe an extraterrestrial being from the outer space. The word “alien” had its origin in science-fiction movies and books. It is no wonder many people find it irritating and offensive when it is used to describe human beings. Even though a person might enter a country illegally, this does not make the person an alien. Most of the time people immigrate to the United State of America to escape from financial and political disasters or fear of prosecution.
Do you ever consider the idea of the aliens visiting the Earth? If so, would that mean that there is a possibility of aliens coming to earth thousands of years ago? What proof is there to support this theory? For years, researchers have been finding surprising pieces of evidence for this theory, such as ancient religious texts, possible interactions with humans, artwork from ancient cultures of strange creatures, ancient artifacts from around the world, or evidence from the Bible.
There are numerous of different movies, books, and TV shows on how humans think aliens interact, look similar to, and what the media portrays aliens to be like. Occasionally, most will stumble across news articles with a variety of related headings about aliens, UFO’s, or recent known abduction stories. Every person has their own theories and or thoughts on these basic questions: do aliens exist? Could the government be covering up real life “space ships” or encounters? Countless folks have claimed to witness or have fanciful stories that have fascinated countless while several others are turned away. There are Videos, pictures and pieces of physical evidence to support nearly all of these stories. Even more alarming,
Do aliens exist? For eons, mankind has pondered over this peculiar question and a revealing truth has yet to be answered. However, one thing is known for sure, the discovery of intelligent alien life outside of Earth would provide support to prove and/or disprove fundamental beliefs that have been held for centuries. In any case, the discovery would serve as a cornerstone for humanity to make the quantum leap in understanding the purpose of our existence. Based on numerous examples, it is impossible to deny the existence of extraterrestrial life outside of Earth. Reportings of sightings, ancient civilizations beliefs, and scientific proof from scientists and astronomers are all key factors that contribute to this statement.
To conclude, there are no solid facts on the existence of extra-terrestrials. Whether or not they exist will, until definite proof is brought forward, be a topic of major debate. Personally I believe that there is something out there-although what it is I wouldn't hazard a guess.
