“Futbol is the only sport where you put people together, it doesn't matter if you are rich, or poor, or black, or white. It is one nation. This is the beauty of futbol.” Soccer. When people hear this word, they think of a boring sport. A boring sport to watch. A activity where people kick a ball on a field and run after it. People who actually know the real beauty soccer has, they think of this as outrageous. I believe that soccer is a beautiful sport. There are many pieces to the beauty. The trash-talking, the tears, the joy when scoring for your team, the laughter with your teammates out on the field, all the smiling after winning a final, or “championship”. One important piece is the unity between all the ethnic groups. All professional soccer teams, both in the US and Europe, don’t have just one ethnic group. I had just moved to San Diego,California. Back when I first started playing soccer, or futbol, I thought soccer was boring. I continued playing though, since my parents saw that this created lots of opportunities and relationships for me that I didn’t see at the time. I gained more and more liking for the game. Then 3 years later, I went to my first professional game in Los Angeles with my youth soccer team. It was amazing! I loved the atmosphere of the crowd during the game. They sang chants that would make you feel like you were apart of the game. Overall, it was a great experience. Nobody’s soccer career is perfect though. I have pulled my hip flexor 6 times over a 2 year time period. After the 2nd or 3rd time injuring myself, I considered quitting soccer. My mom saw my emotions and she sat me down and had a talk with me. She told me that I can’t quit just because of this little thing. I have to keep going because it could be worse. I took that and and I relate to every “non-positive” situation that I have and tell myself
