There are positions outfield, infield, and catcher and pitcher. There are three positions outfield and four positions infield. Outfield the positions are left, center, and right. Infield positions are first, second, shortstop, and third, but there’s also pitcher and catcher where they aren’t at bases. Although softball seems like an easy sport that doesn’t take much knowledge, positions in softball each have their own rules and plays.

One position outfield is center and that is a more complex position for several reasons. You have to back up second or shortstop when trying to get the runner out when they are running to second. You also have to ready for popflies, balls that go high up in the air then come back straight down, so you have to be alert and have a good eye. Finally you have to be paying attention otherwise and ball can fall right in front of you and your not ready to catch it or a grounder, a ball that rolls on the ground, may go past you. …show more content…
