Women around the world suffer from infertility. Treatments to help those women to get pregnant are with medicines, techniques to assist with conception, and operations. The main treatments to treat infertility are: medications to increase fertility, they can be used alone or additional to another process (Ex. Clomifene, Medications containing gonadotrophins-releasing hormones, Metformin combined Clomifene). Surgery is recommended in cases where the cause of the problem can be solved by this procedure such as Endometriosis, Fallopian tube problems, Fibroids, Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and Male infertility. Last but not least is the assisted conception method using techniques like In vitro fertilization (IVF) where fertilization happen …show more content…
All babies, in this case, could come from one egg or from more than one. If only one egg is fertilized by one sperm and the egg splits into 2 or more embryos, the babies will come from the same egg and are called identical. The experts consider that this happens by possibility. It is not connected to the age, family history, or race. For identical babies, all will have the same gender, blood type, and will probably have the same skin color, eyes, and hair. They won't look the same in some cases and their fingerprints will also be …show more content…
The possibility of having severe problems its related to every baby the mother hold at the same time. Pregnant women with multiple babies can expect to develop preeclampsia which means high blood pressure. They can also have gestational diabetes that can occur to pregnant women only. Early babies delivery which means that babies' organs are not fully formed yet and this can cause complicated health problems the baby's lungs, heart, brain, and eyes. Miscarriage is another risk in multiple pregnancy cases, the mother can lose any of the babies and also more than one. If anything goes wrong with the chromosomes or the genes, birth defects on born babies may occur due to genetic disorders. These troubles not always happen, a woman with multiple pregnancy can perfectly have healthy babies born after a health
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2.1 million married couples experience troubles with infertility. Infertility is defined as trying for over a year and not becoming pregnant for women under 35 and trying for six months for women over 35. The cause of the infertility is a male factor one third of the instances, female another third, ten percent of the cause is a combination of both male and female factors and the remaining twenty percent is not apparent. In vitro fertilization is a process that tries to eliminate the problems inherent in the mother and father. It involves an egg is fer...

Many couples who are infertile can not handle the financial responsibility of multiple children. If a couple has seven children in one pregnancy, the financial strain can lead to chaos. There were only three sets of living septuplets in the United States in 1997, according to the Knight-Ridder's journalist Tracy A.
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a complex series of procedures used to help those who want children but struggle with infertility. The process consists of extracting eggs from a woman and collecting a man’s sperm sample then manually combining them in a lab dish. Once the embryo(s) are created they are transferred to a woman’s uterus. IVF is commonly used in woman who cannot conceive on their own due to different reasonings. “These include but are not limited to blocked or damaged fallopian tubes, male factor infertility, woman with ovulation disorders, genetic disorders, woman who have had their fallopian tubes removed and unexplained infertility.” (American Pregnancy)
First, let’s define Infertility? Infertility is the inability to conceive from unprotected sex within a year. According to National Infertility Association(NIA), approximately 1 in 8 couples in the U.S-about 10-15% experience infertility. Infertility doesn’t discriminate against gender or race, therefore, it impacts both men and women equally, and that range from ages 15-50. In addition, any fertile individual could experience this condition, therefore, one can develop it later in life. This condition is shared by about 6 + million women in the U.S. and about 3-4.7 million men were diagnosed in with infertility, including 14% sperm/semen and 6% varicocele, which is an enlarged vein inside the male scrotum, pouch that holds the testicles of a male, therefore this blocks the blood from through the blood stream.

In Vitro Fertilization is one of the assisted reproductive technologies. Technically, It is not a technology. It is the procedure to help people who couldn’t have a child due to several reasons. The main reason why couples couldn’t produce a child is due to infertility. Infertility of humans is already common thing. Based on the research from the world health organization in 2010, 48.5 million couples couldn’t have a child due to infertility. This is a very large number and it is in need for a solution. Therefore, IVF have been the solution for those people. It is now the major treatment to treat infertility for humans. However, IVF is not only spreading positive image to the society. IVF also created some controversy with some group of people and it is regarding the
Common complications of having a pregnancy with multiples is premature birth, low birth weight, twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), preeclampsia, and gestational diabetes.
Babies, as well as the teenage mothers, face long-time problems may face long-term problems from the pregnancy. These problems may include school failure, poverty, and physical or mental illness. Babies born to teenagers are at greater risk for neglect and abuse than those of a woman. Teenage mothers may feel like they are being demanded to do the job and they may take their frustration out on the child (When 1).
Infertility can have many causes as age, spouse sperm count and morphology, smoking, weight, whether or not a women ovulate or not, whether she have any blockages or abnormalities in their Fallopian tubes. Usually a fertility specialist will order a pelvic ultrasound to start out, to check for blockages and abnormalities in the uterus and a semen count from the spouse to see how are his sperm, how they are shaped and how they move. Depending on the results from that, the doctor may put the women on a for a few months drug to stimulate the ovary and that way she can ovulate if she don 't ovulate. If that doesn 't work, they will go on to Intrauterine insemination or in vitro fertilization.
It is possible for pregnant women to lose one twin in a miscarriage but still carry the second child to full term without any damage resulting to it. This has happened rather frequently. “Whether all these twins born far apart were identical or fraternal is not known. However, these twins are all “ordinary” in the sense that they were carried in one womb” (Gaddis, Vincent & Margaret, 1972 (pp. 35-36).
Although this paper is long it does not provide nearly all the information available about infertility. This paper can be seen as tool. There's no doubt in my mind that taking fertility drugs is a very big decision. What I learned from this research is that many eager parents put their own health at risk in order to have a baby. Overall, success depends on each case individually and on the severity of your condition and age.
An important scientific argument for IVF is that, by studying fertilization and early embryonic development outside the womb, scientists might learn more about how to prevent certain birth defects (1). This proves that IVF could actually make improvements in medical advances, especially in regards to prenatal care. This is just one example of how IVF can actually be beneficial to the community. The only times that babies are malformed or sick are when the mother puts more than one baby in her uterus. Multiple fetuses increase the chance of birth defects because they have a greater chance of preterm birth, which is associated with long-term health. The long-term illnesses are cerebral palsy, mental illness, and blindness (Reddy 1). With this in mind, having single births is very safe and those babies are still healthy today, just like Sarah and Maggie Marshall’s baby. Single births are also very highly recommended by medical personnel. Going back to the first test tube baby the Browns were expecting, and Steptoe (the doctor) thought that this baby would be a failure. When they did a cesarean on July 25, 1978, a beautiful baby girl was born at 5 pounds and 12 ounces. After the baby was born, the doctor recalled that
...most common risk is death. Death is a very common risk if you decided to abort in your late term because you are losing lots of blood which came from the baby that you were going to have. Therefore think about your decision twice and don’t make the same mistake twice.
