On the week of 6/28/17 to 6/30/17, I conducted individual sessions. During my individual session, I did a check-in with the client who disclose suicidal ideation the previous week. The client stated he felt good. He talked about his experience at the facility he was admitted to. He discussed what he learned while he was there and we discussed how he can utilize the information he learned. One thing I am concern about is the client is missing schedule appointment to see his therapist. After reviewing his file, I learned he had an appointment schedule for that day. I also completed intakes and assessments, conducted weekly individual sessions, reviewed feedbacks from colleagues on the rough drafts I completed for the crisis plan/form and policy update on discrimination. I received very helpful feedbacks from colleagues on the crisis plan and policy update on discrimination, and I was able to finalize both assignments. I also reviewed Muscogee County Juvenile Drug Court policy. I actually love their policy handbook. Their policy handbook is written in a way you can easy translate the information to the client. The policy highlights what I think are key points for the client to know about the program and their expectation. I was able to compare their policy with my agency’s policy, and I was able to identified strengths and weaknesses in relation to my agency policy. Some strengths I were able to identify was the agency highlights its mission, vision, and goals for the client. Some weaknesses I identified was the policy does not highlight all the services the agency offer the clients. The policy does not list policy and procedure in relation to treatment and client
In the video, Whose Records, the client demonstrated frustration with her current counselor and made a request for her medical records in order to transfer to another counselor. During the conversation, the counselor remained calm and respectful to the client regardless of the clients’ disrespectful approach. I do not agree with the challenge approach made by the counselor regarding the client seeing a different counselor every three to four weeks. That seemed to increase the level of tension on behalf of the client. I feel a better approach would have been to allow the client to express her concerns regarding her current treatment. After which, the counselor could explain the process of obtaining her medical records along with requesting the client to sign the appropriate release of information to acquire her records.
As a second language learner I have never expected myself to be a perfect writer throughout the semester. Even If English was my first language still, I would not be a perfect writer. It is not about first or second language, it is about how well I understand the learning objectives. Then organizing and writing with my own ideas and putting them in my paper. I am going to be honest, I am not good at English subject and English subject is my strongest weakness than the other subjects. For this project I observed a class at Duke Ellington School (PS 4), an elementary school located in Washington Heights, Manhattan (500 West 160 Street). I observed a second grade class composed of 25 students, including 13 boys and 12 girls. The class is led by one teacher who does not receive any assistance from another teaching profession, although sometimes during the school year she receives help from students doing student teaching and fieldwork. Through discussions with the classroom teacher, I learned that all of the students in the class (25) are emergent bilinguals, all of which are from Spanish-speaking countries. The teacher also informed me that most of the students have been attending this school since kindergarten, and that only three kids in the class have been attending since pre-K. This school year, there are two students that just arrived from their homelands.
In many hospitals around the world, patients in the adult Neurological ICU experience a low quality of life and the hospital staff has limited resources to monitor the patients. Traumatic brain injury, or TBI, patients are recovering in an environment where they have monotone environments and have limited movements. The patients can experience cases of depression, disrupted sleep cycles, or have longer recovery times. Recently, I was able to attend the Heads in The Game Research program at the University of Mississippi to research solutions to help TBI patients in the Neuro ICU. In the beginning of the lifeline exercise I didn't know how to come up with ten transitions. I felt lost and thought it will be a difficult exercise. After completing it, I felt much better. It was not so difficult as I thought it will be. Reflecting back on the transition, I notice how I have grown and learned from each transitions. I know that I have made many mistakes in my past transitions but I have also learned from my mistakes which I got better after each every transition. After finishing the lifeline exercise, I felt more positive and believe in myself because I know I have done it in the pass. Additionally, when I was doing the Chapter Headings, I notice a how my life transited into a pattern. I was always moved around and it looks like I am always in a transition which made me felt insecure. But when I look back at each complete transition, I felt more accomplished and satisfied with my achievements.
This reflection paper is about the climate change based on articles in the Global issues book. The articles used in this reflection paper are “Climate Change” by Bill McKibben and “The Other Climate Changers” by Jessica Seddon Wallack and Veerabhadran Ramanathan. This paper will explore McKibbens ideas on if scientists are divided, the effects of climate change and how climate change can happen. This paper will also explore Wallack and Ramanathan’s thesis of black carbon and the ozone, pollutants and how to clean up the emissions. Both of the author’s perspectives on this issue are well informed and backed up with credible sources. They both explain the need to reduce our greenhouse emissions and create a global commitment that will slow down the climate change and help create a sustainable planet.
When I was a young child I prayed the simple prayer to ask Jesus into my heart and be the Lord of my life. This began, obviously, with an elementary understanding of Christianity. As I continued to mature into adolescence, however, my faith changed along with me. Christianity became more than just knowing the answers in Sunday School, taking communion at church, or being able to flip to any Bible passage quickly – it was about developing a relationship with Christ and following His call in my life. As Peter preached concerning Jesus in Acts, “there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved,” (Acts 4:12). And, as is written in the book of Colossians, “as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”

It is an adage I try to adhere to as I prepare what I am going to say every week, and one that I hope comes through in my words. But this week I have felt the newspaper in my hand become a great deal heavier than it often is. Two courses that I feel made the biggest impact on me through this course were week 5 of PEDG 5372 Assessment Data to Guide Instructional Decisions and week 5 of PEDG 5373 Student Expectations and Motivations. Both of these courses were taken at the beginning of this journey to complete my Master’s program and both were taken in the summer before my second year teaching. I learned so much more from these courses than I did during my student teaching and my first year teaching combined. I feel that teachers are expected to hit the floor running and there is no true “training period” or period of transition, you just have to know what you know and learn as you go. Each generation throughout the span of time has defining characteristics, from the Baby Boomers to the Millennials, we each have experienced different things that shaped who we are. How different the world would be without televisions, computers, or even cell phones and we still relied on the radio to transmit information? While change has been necessary to keep up with cultural and social demands, it is always important to reflect on everything that has happened to each generation to get society to where it is today. Paugh History Hall in the Museum of the Rockies reminded me of just that.
Throughout all the time I have been in school from pre-school to my senior year in high school. I have never really thought about how my education has come to shape me because I would only question it at the very end of the school year; what have I really learned this year?, but now that I am in college and my English professor is making everything eye opening it has made me aware that school has shaped me in some form. Most of my teachers follow a curriculum where it is not beneficial to me at all. The way I was taught this whole time affected me in a way I did not see because I adjusted to the environment. The reality is education has shaped me to have fear of deception, to accept, and to not question anything at all.
Throughout this fall semester in college, I have had one of the biggest learning experiences of my life. College not only gives me an education, but real world experience as well. It will teach you many things and I know I am not done learning yet. When I first started Montgomery College, I took with the AELP English classes before I started college English now. I felt moderately unprepared taking EN 101A because it is college English. Since English is my second language, I was afraid that I was not going to get through this course. However, thanks to Prof. Vilceus and friends who helped me to get through it. Taking ENG 101 A helped me to achieve many objectives such as to learn the steps of the writing process, to improve my grammar skills and to cite an outside source.
February 11th, 1996, in the localized town of Spencer, West Virginia, a baby girl was brought into this world. Unaware of how cruel and vindictive the world truly is, she started her journey. Twenty-years later, here I am still trying to apprehend where I fit into this life. My family is of ample size, and most would consider us in the lower class. Throughout my adolescent years, my family relocated quite frequently. Over several years, I finally got interested in our history and government; Only then was I able to review the events in my short time here and genuinely materialize the effects they had on me.
