The movies that he made at the end of the decade were the ones that established him as an actor of merit. Two other films directed by John Ford quickly followed.
References to archaeology have become increasing common in popular culture. Images of cultural icons, themes, and artifacts are found in a wide range of media formats. Some movies, such as Indiana Jones, National Treasure, and Tomb Raider do not claim to have an educational significance whereas other films, such as Breaking the Maya Code and The Bible’s Buried Secrets are presented as non-fiction works. The latter films claim to have an educational intention, and should further public knowledge by clarifying and interpreting archaeological that portrays education issues should contribute to the clarifying and interpreting data. This same principle applies to other forms of media such as magazines, journals, websites, and television shows that infer educational value on the viewer. (Clarke 3)

On June 6, 1943, in Greenbow, Alabama, an unexpected hero was born with a crooked spine and strong legs. Forrest Gump is not an expected conventional hero, however his accolades and accomplishments suggest otherwise. A hero is someone who inspires and instills good morals upon others by their courageous and outstanding acts. Forrest demonstrates these characteristics multiple times during his heroic journey. Whether it be diplomatic pingpong, fighting in the Vietnam War, becoming a local football legend at the University of Alabama or donating money to a deceased friend’s family, Forrest influenced many people with his unselfish and charitable acts. Joseph Campbell’s monomyth consists of the following stages: taking place in an ordinary world, a call to adventure, refusal of said call, meeting with a mentor, crossing the threshold, trials and tribulations, an approach to the final challenge, an ordeal, a reward, the journey back, a purification or resurrection into the normal world and a return home with the capabilities to alter the world in which he lives. Many heroes follow this journey and Forrest Gump is no exception.
When you watch movies or sit down to read a good book, it tends to take you to a different world and you can imagine many different characters. The two that stick out immediately are the hero and the villain. In the movie Indiana Jones, Dr. Jones doesn’t personify the typical hero as you may think that he would. Although he does save the day and Maryann many times, he began in the film with a simple job as a college professor. He has a love for artifacts which you’d see in the movie took a huge turn from saving the lives of others to trying to save his own life. He sometimes has a very hard time saying no to the opportunity to find history’s brilliant artifacts. Indiana Jones’ journey is an example of the Campbell Theory in many different ways throughout the movie.
Many people believe that once archaeologists make a discovery, the discovery goes to a museum and the archaeologist`s job is done. Although this is the popular belief and often-depicted on T.V and movies such as Indiana Jones, this could not be further from the truth. Once an archaeologist discovers a body. When archaeology is mentioned the mind possibly drifts towards the idea of the well known Indiana Jones, though that is not the case. While on the job archaeologist are not gallivanting off on miraculous adventures in the wild. The field work that is performed is more logical, time consuming, and the execution of the job is more careful. “Archaeologists spend most of their time in labs and offices, dusting off old bones and applying for grants to fund their field work- not searching for the Holy Grail”(Career Cruising)."One of the best aspects of archaeology is the balance between fieldwork (when you get to be outside all the time) and office/lab work"(Monteleone). Though how ones spend time in the lab varies on what is needed to be done." When I first get to work, I wake up my computer and see if the process that I ran yesterday is finished (it isn't always). I then often have to check on several other computers (because I often run programs on multiple machines). I then proceed to read and answer emails"(Monteleone).
