Every gun owner wants to shoot accurately, but there are several factors in both the gun and your shooting style that can negatively affect precision and accuracy. Having poor accuracy does not amount to simply having a poor gun or being a bad shot. It's usually a culmination of several factors in both the gun and the shooter that makes poor accuracy so common. The good news is that you can improve your accuracy with some very simple changes and considerations.
Gun Selection
All guns have their own benefits and disadvantages. Some guns are more powerful than others, some have a bigger capacity, some have a longer range and others are simply more accurate. There are several factors that make up a more accurate gun.
Weight greatly affects accuracy. Heavier and larger guns seem to be more accurate as they're not as easy to be affected by shaking hands or sudden jolts of movement. Larger guns also tend to fit in the shooter's hands better, which allows for a better grip and more control.
Longer barrels also help control the bullet for a longer period of time after the gun has been ...

Even though the saddle is important, the bit is most likely the most important piece of equipment for the rider in barrel racing. The bit is most often chosen based on the two concepts of a bit with a longer shank allows for a quicker stop due to the additional leverage on their mouth and a bit with a shorter shank is used for more lateral work.... ... middle of paper ... ...
Prior to the invention of the Minié ball it was necessary for the bullet to be the same diameter as the barrel in order for it to engage the rifling. This made it difficult and time consuming to load because the bullet would have to be rammed down the barrel with some force. Due to this fact, muzzle loading rifles had not seen any previous use in combat. The Minié ball, however, changed this. The Minié bullet was slightly smaller in diameter than the rifle barrel, was conical in shape, and contained an iron plug in its hollow base. When fired the force of the expanding charge would force the iron plug into the base of the bullet, thus causing the base to expand slightly and engage the rifling. The Minié bullet, fired from a rifled musket, had an effective range of up to 250 yards, which was a vast improvement over earlier muskets and ammunition. The rifled musket firing the Minié ball became the most common firearm used by both sides during the Civil War, and the Springfield armory in Massachusetts produce nearly two million for the Union Army. (History.com, 2010)
A popular weapon used by both sides was the rifle. Rifles were invented before the Civil War and were greatly used in the War of 1812. However, more types were built and a larger amount was used during the Civil War. Rifles added a spin to bullets for a greater accuracy at longer ranges. Using this weapon, soldiers could fire 400 yards away, as opposed to the average 80 yards (Robertson 50). Rifles were the fastest and hardest weapon of the time. Rifles allowed their bullets to be shot harder and faster towards its target. New inventions, used by the Union more than the Confederate, included Parrott rifles. They were composed of iron. Robert Parker Parrott, an American soldier and inventor, created these weapons, hence the name Parrott rifles. Despite its name, the Parrott rifle was actually a cannon. Its size ranged from 10 to 300 pounders. It was not favored by most because it was considered unsafe (“Civil War Artillery”). Because of its bulkiness and heaviness, it seldom led soldiers to inaccuratel...
The Henry rifle is a rifle that has a high magazine that uses a .44 caliber rimfire with 26 or 28 grains of blackpowder (Henry rifle. (2014, March 10). Retrieved from wikipedia). This gun was made in the year 1860 and used during the American Civil War through 1866. The Henry rifle can hold 16 rounds and is a breech loading lever action rifle. It can shoot an average of 28 rounds per minute (Henry rifle. (2014, March 10). Retrieved from wikipedia). The length of the rifle is 44 ¾ inches (Henry rifle. (2014, March 10). Retrieved from wikipedia). What makes the Henry rifle inferior to the Spencer rifle is that this gun doesn’t have a grip or anything to grab onto. Another reason is because the gun uses black powder and the barrel can overheat quickly (Henry rifle. (2014, March 10). Retrieved from wikipedia). This defect generally gave the person using it burns on the hand. The burns can get worse if used for longer time, so most of the people who used it wore a glove on their hand (Henry rifle. (2014, March 10). Retrieved from wikipedia)
A majority of weapons used in World War II were improved weapons from World War II. Most guns increased in power and abilities. In World War II people thought that pistols were useless but this was proved wrong due to the fact that the U.S. Mi...
All guns serve different purposes. Guns have been a part of American history for many years. Many different kinds of guns have been used for many different types of jobs. In like manner hunters have different guns for different game. Just as police use guns for law enforcement, hunters use guns to harvest game. The two most commonly used firearms of hunters, are the rifle and the shotgun. Both the rifle and the shotgun are used for hunting, but the two have some major differences. The main differences between the two firearms are cost, range and the type of ammunition that each firearm uses. Most gun manufactures sell shotguns much cheaper than they sell rifles. Shotguns are not as complex internally, and have fewer parts than rifles. The simplicity of a shotgun also makes them easier to clean and maintain, which cuts down on cost. Being that shotguns have fewer parts than rifles, this helps with expense also. No matter how well a hunter takes care of his gun, over time internal parts will either brake or need to be replaced. If there are fewer parts, there is less to replace and less money to spend. Rifles on the other hand, seem to cost much more than shotguns. Rifles are much more complex internally than shotguns and therefore cost more to produce. Also when hunting with rifles some type of vision enhancement is require...
... capable of killing in small numbers. Now, however, they are able to destroy whole buildings. Politicians can and do use the power of the gun to force others to do what they want. Guns have become such an effective killing machine that they can kill anyone anywhere at anytime and, to fulfill any political cause.
Making gun control more strict would involve only certain models being legal and a rigorous process to obtain a license. If America were to only allow certain models of weapons to be legal, deaths in mass murderers could be significantly reduced. According to motherjones.com, from 2011-2013, 31 of the 62 mass murders involved weapons that contained high capacity magazines, which are magazines that can carry over 10 bullets. High capacity magazines should be banned because the shooter would have to spend significantly more time loading a gun, which could spare precious seconds for people to escape. A reform of the process to obtain a license should also be changed. When people purchase guns, their activity with the gun should be closely monitored. If the Bureau of Firearms kept a close watch on people with firearms and took precautions like making people who have firearm licenses check-in and report activity of the gun’s usage, the Bureau can easily check to see if people are using their weapons correctly or if suspicious activity may be going on. A study done by economist Richard Florida showed that states like Ohio, Washington, and Nebraska have tighter gun control; in turn, they also have a lower death rate from guns (per 100,00) compared to other states. Many people will still argue that even with tighter gun laws, there will still be shootings.
Guns have been the weapon of choice for some of the most brutal massacres on America soil. Since early history guns have been used mainly for militia and defense purposes. But, the development of new gun technology has made firearms more accessible and deadly. Although the second amendment gives the right to bear arms, guns should be controlled and monitored by the government because guns have contributed to a lot of killings in America and will increase crime rates.
First, and foremost many handguns have claimed the lives of too many people. This is a very serious issue we must tackle globally not just in the United States. The same problem is killing our past, present, and future. Gun violence has claimed the lives of so many Americans that we are the leading country in crimes committed by guns. These guns are claiming the lives of people ranging from babies to adults to even the elderly. Handguns are just causing too many deaths.
Most guns are generally classified into three types: handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Rifles and shotguns are both considered long guns. A semi-automatic gun shoots exactly one bullet each time the trigger is pulled, it then removes the shell of the bullet, and automatically replaces it with another bullet for the next shot. The fully-automatic gun also known by many people as a machine gun shoots numerous bullets with only one pull of the trigger.
I believe that malfunctions should be reported publicly. If the government is so scared of the enemy getting a hold of this information about them malfunctioning then I believe that they should do something about it instead of just complaining. I really didn’t realize how many people have complained about their gun malfunctioning during war until now. In Vietnam it was recorded that roughly 80% of soldier’s guns malfunctioned on them in the heat of the battle. This could be a major problem because in Iraq it was even worse than this.
“In a large sense, however, the term when applied to firearms refer to the efforts toward creating a more effective, predictable, and longer bullet trajectory” (Projectile). All three of those improvements have to do with projectile motion calculations. If the bullet can slice through the air then there will be less air resistance, which is neglected in the calculation anyways. When the bullet just slices though it will improve its speed along with how far it will go. When you improve both of those variables then it will also improve the predictability of the bullet's path. “During the fourteenth century until 1500, muskets were hopelessly unreliable” (Projectile). This is because the bullet that was shot was just a ball, which couldn’t slice through the air. Due to the air resistance, the bullet would slow down quickly but also start to wobble in air. When the bullet slows down it won't penetrate like bullets today, which would mean that the bullet wouldn’t have enough force to exit the body. Also due to the wobbling of the bullet, it would miss the intended target more times than actually hitting it. Although the shape of the bullet has a huge impact the variables so does the barrel of the gun. The imperfections on the inside of the musket barrel and the bullet it would not fly straight. “When fired, they bounced erratically of the sides of the barrel, and this made their trajectory
Gun safety is very important in the matters of teaching people that firearms are not a toy. One should always treat the gun like it is loaded. Too many people choose to play around with guns by swinging them around, tossing them to people, or aiming the gun at other people and pretending to shoot them. These are signs that people are much too immature and should not be handling a firearm.
