Poverty around the world still exists to this day, even in developed places like America. Maybe it’s finally time to see this poverty case for income inequality. How can we end this vicious cycle of poverty? So many people are suffering and struggling to just get enough money to buy a small amount of food. Every 3 seconds, a child dies of hunger. As said by Aristotle, “Poverty is the parent of resolution and crime.” Individuals are going into poverty because of many different reasons, for instance, low tax incomes, heritage, family structure, not being able to get a job with good pay. They don’t have tax incomes so they cannot afford education. Some don’t even have enough money to buy some new clothes. They are working hard each day just to stay alive. Being educated is a very important component in one’s life. Children and youth learn daily life skills when they are educated and will not learn those skills without education. Too many individuals are living far below the standard and getting below $1.25 a day. Between the years of 2000 and 2013, the rate for youth not in education is hardly changing at all. In 2000, the rate is 7.00 percent and in 2005, the rate is 6.10. Although it did decrease, did it decrease enough? In the range of five years, is decreasing by only 0.9 percent good enough? We can do so many small things that could affect many. We can donate things we don’t need, old clothes that don’t fit anymore, food, and money. Give unwanted things to people who need it. Spare some change just out of generosity and invest money as a society to get enough money to donate. Besides these small things, we aren’t making much of a difference. Educating youth is what the government can do to help stop poverty. By educating children, they can get jobs when they are older and be qualified for them. They can start earning salaries high enough to support themselves and possibly their families with what they need in life. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” as said by Nelson Mandela. Creating more available work that doesn’t require education and at least earns enough for the basic needs in life is another thing we can do.
