To start, the author of "Incident in a Rose Garden" uses personification to further develop the theme. Justice writes "Sir, I encountered Death/Just now among our roses/Thin as a scythe he stood there" (Line1-3). The living thing can't see the death, but Gardener saw the death and he felt exactly that's death, also Death says "sir, I knew you father/ And we were friends at the end" (Line20-21).
