People all over the world have received trophies. Whether they are from a sport, a competition, or a good deed that somebody has done. Although trophies seem to lose value as time goes by, when a person receives that trophy, their self esteem builds up. Winning something could make a person feel like they are worth something, like they matter. In the article, “In Youth Sports, Participation Trophies Send a Powerful Message” written by Parker Abate, it has been stated that trophies are very important to people, especially children in their early years. Imagine being on a team in any sport. There is a team captain who is always honored by their hard work. But what about the rest of the team? Each team member should be equally as honored as the captain because of their hard work. When only one person has received the trophy, it almost seems like that person received all of the credit for making the whole team win. This results in making other team members feel like they are not valued by their effort put into the game that they are playing.
