In the Movie "Tombstone", Friendship Comes in Different Forms
Friendship between two people can come in many different forms. In a companionship you could just be acquaintances, where at one time or another someone might have done something for you that might have changed your life for the better. To this individual you feel as if you owe them a favor in return.
For this reason you would always help them in their time of need.
In the movie Tombstone, Wyatt Earp was the only amigo that Doc Holiday ever had. So no matter when Wyatt was in trouble Doc was always there for him.
For example the time all of Wyatts' brothers were murdered and Wyatt took revenge on the people who did it. So, even though on his death bed, Doc Holiday, got up and went with Wyatt to help him slay them. This is one way that a friendship can form between two people.
A further example of the friendship between Wyatt and Holiday was when the Dalton gang had come into town with their guns and went into the O.K. Corral.
They were going to get Wyatt for killing one for their brothers. Doc knew that
Wyatt might of been killed if he went there on his own. So again, even though not in the best of health, Doc went to help Wyatt out.
Another type of friendship is the one that came between John Oakhurst and young Tom Simson in the story of The Outcast of Poker Flat. In this camaraderie the two men were in a poker game and young Simson lost all of his money to Oakhurst. After the game Oakhurst pulled him aside and gave him his money back and a little lecture on not to gamble any more. By this he made a slave (friend) for life. A few months later when Oakhurst became exiled out of
Within this secluded valley operated one of the nation’s most notorious counterfeiting rings. The secret service listed George Rozelle as the gang’s ringleader, claiming he moved to Pope County from Nebraska in the late 1800s and soon thereafter shipped in counterfeiting supplies from Chicago. He then retreated to the isolated valley where he set up a mint and began making five and ten dollar banknotes. While much of the activity of the gang remains a mystery, on June 28, 1897 the Bullfrog Valley made the front page of the New York Times When the paper ran an article on the capture of three of the gang’s men. In the end, 15 men were arrested, tried and convicted in federal courts in both Fort Smith and Little Rock. Rozelle, however, was not one of them.Even though federal agents were long aware of the gang’s activity, Dumas explains, the gang was able to avoid capture for some time by moving back and forth between Pope and Johnson Counties. It appears the ringleader, Rozelle, was especially adept at this and often escaped with his press. Eventually, however, he buried his equipment in the valley and fled the region. Secret service later found three of the men who helped Rozelle hide the equipment and discovered the supposed area
He also told Stryker he had no direct knowledge Spurlock, who emerged from the shed while deputies were on the property, was making meth in the shed; however, he said he'd herd rumors and knew Spurlock, who had been periodically staying in the shed for a couple of years, “dibbled and dabbled.”
...rnia. Wyatt Earp died on January 13, 1929, and his fame as a lawman has continued to grow since his death. Wyatt Earp literally shot his way into the hearts of Western America. He is familiar to the nation’s people, young and old. From Ellsworth, Kansas to Tombstone, Arizona, he cleaned the streets of desperadoes in town after town. He shot coolly, he shot straight, and he shot deadly, but only in self-defense. Like any other person whose reputation leaned on firepower, there were those who wanted to test, to see if their draw was a split second quicker or if they could find a weak spot. Wyatt put many of their doubts to rest. When the history of the western lawmen is placed in view, Earp’s name leads the parade of Hickok, Masterson, Garrett, Tilghman and all the rest.
In 1878 Wyatt met Doc Holliday. They became friends when Doc shot a man who was aiming at Wyatt?s back. Doc was also involved in the battle at the OK Corral. Doc suffered from Tuberculosis and went from 200 pounds to 122 pounds in the year after the gunfight. He died in 1883.
In the movie Wyatt Earp was getting ready to move to California to marry. Then he got word that his brother Virgil was in danger and needed his help with a rowdy bunch of cowboys. Dee Brown said, "Wyatt decided Dodge was too tame for him and at the end of the season he, Doc, and Big-Nose Kate left for Tombstone." His arrival in Arizona with Doc and Kate was already a problem since highly acclaimed Wyatt Earp was riding in with the cold-blooded killer, Doc Holliday. The film portrayed Wyatt's brothers as being very wary of Doc's presence, but they already knew what he had done for Wyatt so they had accepted him as friend, but that did not go for the rest of the town.
...same favors nor appreciate it. Thus, we can finally conclude that being kind and nice can in return be risky and “counter beneficial”.
Gunfights were common and took place regularly. The earliest gunfighters, or gunslingers, were born in the early 1800’s, and most men got recognition as slingers in the 1850’s. The founder of gunfighting was “Old Man Clanton”, or N. H. Clanton. In 1816, Newman Haynes "Old Man" Clanton was born in Davidson County, Tennessee. On January 5, 1840 Newman Clanton married Mariah Sexton Kelso in Callaway County, Missouri and together they had five boys and two daughters. John Wesley, Joseph Isaac, Phineas Fay, William Harrison, Alonzo Peter, Mary Elise and Ester Ann made up the Clanton Gang. He did not participate in many gunfights though he instigated many of them. Old Man Clanton took care of business swiftly. If he did not like somebody, he would simply point them out, and one of his sons would provoke an argument and shoot the man down in “self defense”. Old Man Clanton had formed a “cowboy party” which consisted of some of the deadliest men in the West. Curley Bill, John Ringo, Tim and Frank McLaury, Joe Hill, Pony Deal, Jim Hughes, Frank Stillwell and many other lieutenants, who had over four hundred frontier outcast under them, formed this group. He stole over $100,000 from ranchers in the south, and anyone who opposed was quickly exterminated. Old Man Clanton’s final days ended with a stolen-cattle drive. While he was passing through Guadeloupe Canyon, he and six other men were ambushed and shot dead out of their saddles. "Old Man" Clanton was buried where he fell in Guadalupe Canyon, New Mexico.
The book Liar’s Poker begins in 1986, the first year of the firm Salomon Brothers decent, with Michael Lewis and the rest of the employees confused by the characteristics of their boss John Gutfreund. Gutfreund was known throughout the firm to bring a sudden chill to your bones or at Lewis put it “as same as the nervous twitch of a small furry animal at the silent approach of a grizzly bear” (Lewis 120). What had the employees confused was that Gutfruend usually hovered over everyone quietly with his cigar droppings all over; today however, he made a straight line toward the desk of John Meriwether. Meriwether was known as Salomon’s finest bond traders. Gutfruend went to him and whispered “One hand, one million dollars, no tears” (Lewis 127) what Gutfruend had whispered meant that he had challenged Meriwether to a betting game called Liar’s Poker. The game Liar’s Poker consist of a group of people, form a circle. Each player holds a dollar bill to their chest. Each player attempts to fool the others about the serial number printed on the face of their own bill. One trader starts by making his own bid, and attempts to guess a certain amount of a number consisting in every player’s dollar. An example from the book started the bid with three sixes. Counting every player plus himself each serial numbers contain at least three sixes.

When you love someone, you 've gotta trust them. There 's no other way. You 've got to give them the key to everything that 's yours. Otherwise, what 's the point? And for a while, I believed, that 's the kind of love I had” (Casino). Casino centers on Sam ‘Ace’ Rothstein, a gambler of legendary skill who is sent by the mob in the early 1970s to Las Vegas to manage its newly acquired Tangiers Hotel and Casino. Ace is an outsider among outsiders: a dispassionate, calculating, almost pitifully tender civilian among thugs. He’s a Jewish bookie sent by the mob to manage a Vegas casino and embezzle cash for the crime bosses back home. Even when he dons a flamboyant suit and runs patrol around the felt tables of his amoral arena, he looks unsatisfied.
One particular robbery was different than the ones in the past. The duo and their gang went to a grocery store with the intentions of stealing cash. They held the owner and his wife at gunpoint and demanded they open the safe. Somehow while the safe was being opened, a gunshot was fired, leaving the owner dead. Unlike all the other crimes committed, this one involved murder.
On the trail most cowboys would have guns with them but they would leave them in the chuck wagon. (The chuck wagon was a cart that was usually in the back of the herd that held all of the cowboy’s goods.) They left the guns in the wagon because the guns were heavy and often times got in the way and could be dangerous while riding a horse. Most cowboys were not very good with guns and even one cowboy shot himself in the foot. The gun did come in handy though, especially when a stampede occurred. The cowboys would ride to the chuck wagon, grab their guns, and continue to the front of the herd where they would shoot three evenly spaced shots over the leader-cattle’s heads. This would usually stop the stampede.

Empowerment is the act of giving power or authority to; to enable or permit (“The Definition” 1). Black empowerment in my opinion is the uplifting of African Americans to achieve a greater purpose in life, while enhancing the black community as a whole. Black empowerment can be achieved in many ways, such as influences from musical artists as well as popular actors and actresses. They become major influences based on their celebrity status. Numerous people in our society disregard the influence that literature impacts our culture, especially in earlier time periods. A reason for this is possibly because of the emphasis on education during that time because African Americans wanted to overcome the stereotypes of not being as educated as whites.
Social media avenues are a new, upcoming, and popular way to advertise for businesses and for people to connect to each other. Alexis Ohanian once said that "Being effective at social media, whether for business or personal use, means capturing people who have short attention spans. They 're only a click away from a picture of a funny cat, so you have to make your thing more compelling than that cat. And that can be a high bar." (Ohanian) Powerful usage of social media can have a big impact.
