Gifts, people, pets, memories and actions are some of the countless things people remember in their high and low points in life. From time to time, I dwell on the things that impacted my life, and the most meaningful one of which was attaining my high school diploma. To begin with, I was not fond of school when I reached high school. Then, I made a decision to join the Armed Forces and did not know I needed a high school diploma to join. Eventually, I ended up with a high school diploma and an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, that I now find extremely helpful, as I am in college. Given these points, I can say that I am extremely proud of myself and I am looking forward to accomplish much more in the near future. As much as I enjoyed school as a child, that was not the case when I reached high school. High school was an entire different environment from elementary and middle school. I strongly disliked my classes because I felt that they were too difficult for me and the teachers never had time to explain the course material more efficiently. It felt as though the teachers were …show more content…
He gave me insight to know what the Armed Forces were like and the benefits. I became interested and decided I wanted to join the Marine Corps but in order to join I needed my high school diploma. Immediately after work one day, I headed to an adult education center and enrolled to complete my all my high school credits. I specifically recall going back to school in November of 2008. With great determination, I managed to attend morning, afternoon and evenings classes to graduate by April of 2009. In less six months, I had managed to complete all my missing credits and attain my diploma. Then, I joined the Marine Corps and five months later I was sent off to basic training in South Carolina. For the most part, I am glad that I ran into that Marine Corps recruiter at my
High school is where I had gained an awareness about how what I 'm learning in school is going to benefit me in the real world. I learned an retain a variety of information because the things that I did learn I felt like you would need to know to survive in the real world. A perfect example of this is driver 's ed where I learned to drive something that I do everyday frequently. Another reason why I learned and retain so much I because when I got into high school is around the same time I got my first job. This definitely opened the door in showing me how what I 'm learning in school applies to everyday work activities such as knowing and counting money this is where math comes in. Being able to talk and communicate writing and verbally this is where English comes in. All things that I needed to do in everyday
When one thinks back to all the school years between kindergarten and high school, they will not remember the name of every teacher they have ever had without hard thought. There are always going to be the teachers that stood out from all the rest for one reason; they connected with their students. When asked about school, students will not reply with an undoubted love for all the time spent going through it. It is simply something we must all go through to get on with our lives and be an active member of society. I get the strangest looks from my peers when I say I like school. Now obviously, I have not loved every second spent behind a desk or all the time required to be spent with every teacher, but overall I do enjoy school because of the
I started high school with a broken heart. My father died when I was 13, not long before I started high school. I worked hard in school not only for him, but because working hard is who I am. He taught me that if you want something you have to go out and get it yourself and what I wanted to do was go to college. I have put myself through a lot in just this past year alone, applying for scholarships nonstop and earning my license so I can finally get a job. I want to be a successful, responsible person so I can make my father, wherever he is, proud of how far I was able to come after he was gone. Yes I’ve gone through a tragedy, but I’ve let it motivate me in a positive way, pushing me to be the best I can be.
The Military defends its country and citizens by any means necessary. The power structure of the military is the most well known aspect to civilians, but there is much more to the armed forces than that. Each tear of the power structure has a responsibility to watch over the lower tears, making sure they are doing their job correctly and build their individual records. Each service member relies on his/her record to dictate how they are treated and advance in the military. In addition to the rank system and individual record, there is a code of conduct in the Military, that is specific to each branch, which must be followed or severe disciplinary action will be taken. The practice of panopticism is most prevalent in the Marines, the strictest
A high school diploma is important to my future like it is for many individuals who have goals and aspirations to succeed in life. A high school diploma is a foundation for basic education before going to college and it's a great accomplishment not too many people get to have. With a high school diploma many educational and professional opportunities will be available to me. I'll have better long term economic outcomes than individuals who do not have a high school diploma.
I have to admit that I will not look fondly on my high school career. I spent most of my study time going out with my friends. I felt that I was paying my dues with the eight hours of boredom that began most of my days. Until now there were only a few classes that I enjoyed. In retrospect, I believe that it was my inability to choose the classes I took which resulted in my lack of enthusiasm on the ride to school each morning.
One of my proudest accomplishments in life was earning my college degree,
During my years in high school, I have learned many valuable lessons. I’m proud of the person I am becoming. Life has not been easy, but thankfully I’m a strong hard worker. I started high school with a high GPA, and never intended for it to drop throughout my years. Within the last three years, I’ve moved around, participated in sports, and got a job.
As this school year went on, I can honestly say my feeling towards school changed drastically. Yes it is still hard and yes some classes can be boring but
My High School life has helped shape the way for my college experiences that I will face. My senior year in high school is not the same as many other high school students. I am taking many advanced classes to help me prepare for college. These classes help me better understand exactly how much harder I must work to succeed.
I've always loved school. Being able to have interaction with other people my age was fun for me because I was the youngest person in my family and my only sibling was older than me by 17 years. This made school a very intriguing experience for me because I got to be around other kids. While I had a good life at home, with parents who loved me, I was still missing interaction with people closer to my age. Because of this, I always sought to find in my school community what I didn't get at home.
1) There are plenty of reasons why I enjoyed school growing up and even more reasons to find other things to do. One of my biggest challenges in my education as a child was math. It was not my strong suit and I felt behind when comparing myself to other students. This impacted my attitude towards this subject dramatically. Once I noticed I was receiving extra help for math when no one else was, was the day my eyes opened up. I felt stupid, and immediately lost all confidence in my mathematic abilities. Many of my teachers were encouraging but I felt as though they did not actually care if I understood the material or not. For example, my middle school teacher was the coldest 7th grade math teacher in the whole school and she had a very bad reputation. She made me feel like the stupidest student in her whole class. After leaving her class and moving up to the 8th grade level, I had been scared from that, and my confidence was at an all time low.
High School is a different experience for everyone and those experiences can be both good and bad. Sometimes you will be super happy because you get an “A” on a project or assignment, and other times you get so frustrated with yourself or a teacher so much that you wish you were done with it all. Overall, high school was an interesting experience for me. I was always doing something whether that be homework, after school activities, or even organizing events. It seemed like I had no free time at all. High school has definitely taught me many things that I will take with me the rest of my life.
