Teaching resources are adequate and resources were provided by the school management as per teachers need. All the teachers agree that they have been given access to resources and multimedia technology was accessible. However teachers agreed that the main challenges they come across is the lack of teacher training. All the teachers are trained primary teachers but except one, all the teachers were unfamiliar with inclusive education. Teachers know the conditions of the students but they have been unable to help the students because of the lack of knowledge. With many students in a class and a single teacher to teach cause many behaviours problem. Teachers express that their concern over the lack of classroom physical space for students to work. There is no way students can do their reading or any extra work even if they finish their work earlier. According to Vygotsky (1978), a child with developmental disability can be developed by truly differentiated learning environment. Unfortunately many of these students are undiagnosed. Some of the parents were asked to do an assessment from a concern institute. If the students were diagnosed early, early intervention program can be implemented.

Conclusion

This project intended to identify the challenges teachers face with inclusive education in one of the school of Maldives. From the research it has been concluded that mainstream, teachers face many challenges with regards to teaching and learning in an inclusive education program. Inclusive education is a concept where disabled students are integrated in mainstream classes. However, lack of knowledge about how inclusive education works, teachers find it difficult.
