Recommended: The importance of smartphone applications
A Smartphone app is a software application designed to run on wireless computing devices such as smart phones and tablets. The mobile applications are optimal for the people who use any particular service frequently, such as cab booking and mobile recharge.
Each app provides more functionality like game, calculator or mobile web browsing. Even though mobile app is a booming one, this technique is somewhat lacking. These apps are generally small, individual software units with limited function.
If a customer’s objective is to be interactive or to provide an application that needs to work more like a computer program than a mobile website, then obviously a mobile app is the best choice.

Even though productivity apps, news apps, traveling apps play a vital role, video continues to be a key driver of the mobile phone. In the traditional days, video time on mobile devices overtook the desktop. But now, video consumption on smartphones exceeds that on tablets. If we were to take a look around, there is not a doubt that we will at least see one person with a phone in his or her hand. Smart phones, tablets, computers and televisions are a staple in most common households today. As technology becomes smarter, it is noticeable that people are becoming increasingly lazier. According to a survey conducted by the Department of Labor in 2012, watching TV was the leisure activity that occupied the most time, about 2.8 hours a day (“American Time Use Survey Summary”). This means people are spending more time in front of their televisions than they are any other activities in their free time. Technology is the number one thing people turn to, whether it is for entertainment or for functional use. People are relying on technology devices more than they should be.
This significantly more than half the day when only waking hours are counted. One of the biggest uses, especially for those of younger age, is the smart phone. More and more people have been converting to smartphones and, with the use of applications or “apps”, anything can be done on them (Statista). There are apps for dieting, exercising, gaming, music, photography, reading, and an app for anything one could think of can be found in the “app store.” With so many options on how to use smartphones, people cannot find reason to stop using them. Journalist David Bauder wrote that, “People stare at screens while waiting in line for fast food, riding in elevators or walking down the street…People check messages in bed before falling asleep, and reach for the devices upon waking up.” His statement may be perceived as exaggerated, but Bauder writes the reality. Looking around at any event or place, it can be seen that Bauder tells the truth and it could be concluded that the addiction to electronics should be put to a stop, or it may have an unsuspecting effect on mental
People increased the time they spent on media multitasking with the rise of new technology that people could use. Since 2005, technology has advanced greatly, especially in a way that allows for convenience and easy access to media. In a recent report by David Bauder, a Nielson company study found that ”[t]he typical American adult is using media for a full hour a day more than just last year, with smartphones accounting for most of the increase” (1). Alongside the growth and ubiquity of technology, people have extended the use of media in their lives. For many people, media is a given as a part of everyday living. Furthermore, in Bauder’s report on the Nielson company study, there is an “indication that there's a lot of multi-tasking going on” because people have increased phone and tablet usage while still using other media in similar amounts (1). Phones and tablets have the benefit of being mobile, smaller, and

Along with different brands, as you can imagine, there are an abundance of models too. So whatever you may desire in a phone, there are many different options to choose from when selecting an Android phone. As I stated earlier, the Google Play Store does not have many limitations on apps. This allows companies and individuals to upload and create their own apps, causing there to be more apps available to Android users. Not only are there more apps, the selection is much more broad and a desirable type of application may come in different forms over the Google Play Store.
There was once a time when companies used to spend heavily on publishing, compelling, ads on newspapers and magazines just to put the word out there, but times have changed and so have the medium used to broadcast these ads. Nowadays, companies use the internet to spread the news, to be more specific, companies use the social media as an advertising tool. Over the years, social media has vastly changed the way we communicate and interact with one another, some examples of such social media might be Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube etc. This kind of interacting tools are now been used by businesses to sell or advertise their products, one might say that the social media is the modern day substitute for newspapers and magazines. One company that has been doing this heavily is Android (owned by Google), Android ads can be seen in every corner of the internet whether be famous sites like Facebook or now extinct ones such as Myspace, although one such social media that they haven’t been using is XDA developers. The site predominantly focuses on software development and discussion for Android, Windows, Ubuntu Touch, and Bada phones etc. The following paper will discuss and analyze their audience and argue why XDA developers is the best social media platform to advertise smartphone operating system companies such as Android to the general public and developers.
