Respect is a word that often gets overlooked by many people. My top three things that I think respect mean, are treating objects with care when it is your own personal items or not, treating everyone the same regardless of gender, race, or looks, and verbally being nice to people whether its in person or not.
The first thing that I will talk about is how I think that people should treat objects with respect whether it is their own or someone else's. For instance when people go to a store they should respect the things inside the store. For instance not messing up the store such as throwing things on the ground, or breaking things on purpose, because they think that it is fun. I used to work in retail and it would not be a fun job when I would
I also think that people should respect others personal things. Such as if you are at someone's house you shouldn't be going around and breaking things, or taking things without the owners permission.
Treating everyone the same, should be what everyone wants from each and every individual; regardless of gender, race, or even looks. For gender many times people tend to think that women don't like to do thinks that guys do, or that women are not smart enough, or not strong enough. When there are women who know how to fix cars or build something for a house. On the other side of things, I know that there are some women who think that guys cant bake, or that they don't do good at shopping, or even have a messy part of the house that they call the "man layer." There are men who know how to bake, or shop, or even don't have a "man layer." I also think everyone should be treated the same regardless of race, especially nowadays. There are a lot of people who judge others because they are black, white, Native American, Chinese and the list goes on. When there are bad people of all races, but there also many good people in all of the races. The last thing I have for treating everyone the same is looks. I know
I don't think that people should be mean to others whether it is verbal or non-verbal. Like for instance saying something mean to someone's face, or now with all the technology, and social media, people tend to do it over the internet then in person. There are a lot of people who face being verbally attacked almost everyday, whether it is from a friend, or a classmate, or even a spouse, or even someone you don't know. There has been stories of people who end up not living anymore, because they cant take the negativity from other people. When you say something not nice about someone else, whether its indirect or direct it could impact their lives a lot, even if you don't know it. That's why I think its important to also verbally respect people. Sometimes even giving a little compliment such as I like your shoes or your outfit could mean a lot to someone, or even make their day. That person could also have a greater chance at remembering you for being someone who is
