In my experience, it is just about impossible to get through college without any type of obstacles to overcome. Obstacles in college can be big or small, but are any of the things that interfere with any of your courses, in class and homework assignments. These obstacles can include other courses, having a job, having children, and many other things. It is important to always put your schoolwork first, when possible, to ensure success throughout your time in college.
I have only been in college for one semester, and I have already encountered many obstacles. The biggest obstacle for me is my job. I work close to full time every week, and working so much is making it very difficult at times for me to dedicate time to my studies. My job is also making it hard for me to keep up with all of my assignment due dates.

One instance where my job was a major obstacle was when i had to do a ten page essay for my english class.
I kept putting off the paper thinking i would have time to complete it later on. Before I knew it, it was the day that my ten page essay was due. The day that I realized it was due I only had five pages of my paper completed. This was very bad because I was scheduled to work the whole day the day that my essay was due. Since I was scheduled all of that day to work I decided that it would be best to ask my dad for help on my paper.
Towards the end of my shift my dad informed me that he reviewed my essay, and that everything that I had in my paper was perfect. He also said that there was not anymore information i could add to it. This made my obstacle a lot more difficult. The fact that I only had a couple more hours, to add five pages to my essay, really worried me. I decided that it would be best for me to discuss with my manger at work about leaving early to finish my
essay. My manager understood and agreed to let me leave early to finish my assignment. I was able to overcome this obstacle by putting my homework before my job. Putting school first is the most important element of being successful. Without time and dedication you cannot pass in school. I also learned a lot from my experience dealing with this obstacle. I now know the importance of corresponding my assignment due dates with my work schedule. In the future I will be sure not to wait until the last minute to complete an assignment and I will better correspond my assignment due dates with my work schedule to ensure than I am completing all of my school work on time. Corresponding all of my course due dates with my work schedule will be the most beneficial success strategy for me. Always being aware of my due dates will keep me from falling behind in all of my courses. It will also help to minimize my stress throughout college. From here on out I will be keeping up with all important dates in a calendar to stay successful during my time in college.
I set my phone timer to go off in 40 minutes and I manly focused on the thesis, topic sentences, and quotes. This took up all my time and my initial thoughts on my first draft were very critical. My essay was extremely short with no introduction or conclusion, and didn’t show any contrasting relationship between the two men’s use of rhetoric. I planned to write the rough draft toward the end of Christmas break, so that I could ask my English teacher to read and write notes on it on Monday to help me make it better. When I found out that she would be absent all week, I got out a marker and read it aloud to myself in class, marking it us as I went. (My edits are in the Appendix
In the second essay I used the writing process and the outcome was way better. So I learned that so things are there to be learned and that will benefit you in college. Also I learned to be responsible when it comes to grades, turn in assignments due in class, and many other things. I learned this lesson because one day I didn’t turned in an assignment on time and the teacher said that it was a 0 for the day. In high school some teacher, like Ms. Perez, give the students the chance to turn in work the next day, but at that time I realized I was not in high school. So I got my schedule of homework on point and I decided to turn in all my college work on time. The outcome was good grades on assignment and not misunderstood with the instructor. “Be on time if you can’t be there early.” Said by Robin Sharma. Being on time is important to any individual, going into a date, to work and to class. You have to be responsible on be on time wherever they cited you, it is a sign of respect. One day my dad took me to get a new phone, knowing that I had college class. I was in Nuevo Laredo and it took a lot to get me my phone, so I arrived to class late. The students where already taking an exam. I asked Mr. Benavides “what
Theses quotes might be said once or many times in one’s teen life. Complaining about parents is one of the conversation topics among the peers. Sometimes teens feel like adults do not aware of their opinions anymore. Moreover, arguments among the family could ruin the relationship if members do not know how to deal with it. I learned how to solve problems through these conflicts and became more mature.
Having to write an essay takes valuable time away from your life that you could be using
I stared at the blinking cursor, unbelieving at what I had just done. I was indeed done; done with a paper I agonized over for 6 hours. The paper was due in a scant 4 hours and I had all week to do it. The radio had stopped working because my brother got on the Internet and thus cut off my connection. That was the least of my problems working on this paper. I got it done, though. My life changed with one trip of a teacher to the chalkboard and one phrase, narrative essay. God, I hate narrative essays.
Difficulties Attending College Today everyone thinks in order to succeed financially in life they need to have a college education, or at least most of the time this is true. I personally think that despite the many difficulties that a person is faced with, they can overcome their troubles somehow, even though sometimes they can not help but think otherwise. I, myself, have three different reasons why people find it difficult to stay in college. For one, sometimes they still have to keep on working while going to school. Two, they have children, too.
In life, people will always have something to say about you in everything one does in life, either negative or positive, but it’s the moment when you let what is said upon you affect the way you live your life, that when its becomes a problem. I for myself have been victim of so many people saying things about me and letting get into my head, but I had the courage to overcome a lot of obstacles like that. I have struggled with a lot of obstacles in my life some got the better of me while I have been able to overcome most of them. I am writing this essay to give an example of an obstacle which I struggled with for a very long time and I nearly took the best of me, but with time I was able to overcome it.
A specific strategy that I used to overcome my obstacle to my success in college is to manage my time. Throughout the course I learned that it is very important to manage my time, or have my stuff in order. Not managing my time can result to not having time to study for tests, to do my homework, and even for some extra help. two tips on how to manage my time is to not overload myself with too many classes and not work a lot if I am a full time student
Overcoming Obstacles Throughout a persons life, they are faced with different obstacles, and different challenges of all different types. My life in particular has been full of ups and downs, especially towards my soccer career. In the novel The Pact, three boys, George, Rameck, and Sam, are faced with many obstacles throughout their lives, where they must learn to overcome and achieve great success on their own will power. Essentially, I did the same thing. My soccer career has been one of my most difficult life challenges, creating the person I am today.
Every day I think about how easy my life would be without any struggles that I face attending college. Students that attend college face lots of struggles, they may be different struggles from one another but we all have them. Realizing the struggles I face attending college makes me feel uncomfortable because this is the first time I am ever facing these types of struggles. College is such a great atmosphere to be in, but it also comes with having no time to myself, lots of stress, and lastly dealing with work right after class.
I needed to take everything I have learned and apply that essay if i had any chance of passing the class. This essay was one of two that I needed to pass. I was nervous, trust me I was very nervous. The only thing that was going through my head was the thought of not passing. Then having to be under pressure for the last essay of the semester. I didn’t want to be in that position. For hours, i would sit at the computer and just stare at a blank screen. I had a tough time getting the essay going. Taking constant breaks to help clear my mind up. After a while I was able to find my flow and I began to write. In class Bill would always tell us to do research, to better support our examples and back up our thesis. During the process, I would have my classmate scan over my essay so that he could tell me where my strongest and weakest points were. One thing that would get to me was when Bill would read my essay and tell me that I could make it better. And I knew I could, i just didn 't know how. I kept reading my essay over and over telling my myself how can I improve it more than what it already is. Bill would always tell me that I needed a strong hook, something to draw the reader in. A strong fact or personal story was good way of providing it. During the third essay, citations was another thing we covered. I already knew how to cite properly but what we covered was a refresh of it. At the end, I really felt that I had failed the
Recognizing challenges is important for academic success and beyond, identifying a barrier can help prepare strategies for the future and a better outcome in academics or a certain goal. The purpose of identifying barriers is for me to come up with strategies before it affects me academically. According to Dr. Howard Gardner, a professor at Harvard University, suggests that "all human beings have at least eight different types of intelligence" pg. 60 (Your LSC Experience) are as the following. A verbal/linguistic learner, a logical/ mathematical learner, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic learner. I myself fall under the intrapersonal or solitary style.
Your teacher just gave you a deadline for a paper that you have to write, and now
I wrote and turned in my first draft. Then, I got it back. Additionally, I corrected errors that my teacher had suggested as corrections. After that, I rectified it once more. I then wrote my second draft and also turned that one in for corrections. In between all that, the whole class was peer editing. Therefore, on account of my peers, I took the information that they suggested; I added, deleted and eventually updated even more of my paper. More importantly, I thought my essay paper was completely prepared to be submitted. Perfect! I had done it!
Those obstacles have made me a stronger person than I was before and I am thankful for them. I also have God to thank because without him, I wouldn 't have made it through these past four years. He was with me the entire journey, even in the moments where it seemed like he wasn 't. With college I will further my computer career making more successful in the field I enjoy doing. The gateway to a good future is college and that is why I plan on going to college. College is the most important goal of my life. It is the goal that I mostly focused on throughout my entire career. This year is the most important year of my life: it is the turning point of my life. The way I act, what I do, the classes I take. Everything matters. My future is before me and I am not sure if I can walk the road which I plan. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Life is a journey, not a
