Mobile phones are extremely useful but they can also be irritants. They have proven to be one of the greatest inventions of all time because anybody can reach anyone practically anywhere and at anytime. Parents feel secure knowing that they can reach their children no matter where they are. Sweethearts can bid each other good night without waking up the whole household with a loud ring from the land line. Business associates can consult each other from wherever they are. However, because of the general lack of mobile phone etiquette, they can also proven to be a great public nuisance disrupting dinners, meetings and gatherings in loud voices, shamelessly airing details of their personal life for the world to hear. Teachers have to play cat and mouse with mobile offenders in the classrooms.
A standard 3 student brings phone to her or his primary school every day? Well, this does not sound weird anymore. Nowadays, it seems normal for parents to get their children mobile phones although in our perspective the children are still very young. Thus, we can see a lot of students already have their own mobile phones, including primary school students. By having a mobile phone, the children are allowed to go anywhere because if there is anything happen, the parents can easily contact them. In fact some of the devices provided an application for instance ‘Find My iPhone’ which allowed the iPhone users to track the location of another user where it has been. Perhaps, more applications and solutions have already been introduced by other smart phones or communication service providers such as Friend Finder by Maxis which almost has the same function as ‘Find My iPhone’. If there is an emergency, the parents or the children should be contacted through a phone in the school office. I believe mobile phones are superior to the development and escalation of mankind by making the student lives easier. All in all, it has to be said that mobile phones have tremendous potential if used with prudence. In fact, the best user is one who lets it lie quietly in the pocket or handbag and uses it with the utmost discretion. There is a purpose why the children are required to attend school. This is to ensure they gain all the knowledge and skills to prepare for their future. They are there to pay attention and they should take this advantage to absorb as much knowledge as they can to help them becoming a successful person.
