Parents have always been teachers to their children, and they are now taking control of their children 's education back. According to Dr. Brian D. Rey, of NHERI, "There are about 2.2 million home-educated students in the United States." Every year the number of homeschooling families is increasing, and parents are constantly on the look out for the best curriculum for their children. A good curriculum could allow a child to transcend their peers and set them up for a successful future. A bad curriculum could seriously hinder a child and even cause them to lose interest in education, setting them up for failure. When curriculum not only explains what is being taught to the child, but also explains how to teach the material and word it in a unique way, the child more easily comprehends what is being taught and remembers it. If the curriculum is easy for the parent to learn and teach, it is also easy for the student to follow along and comprehend it, which "hits two birds with one stone."

Throughout the instructor 's guides and the curriculum, it explains the materials need for each day and the information being taught. Also, it mentions a few different ways the instructor might word the information being taught to their child, so their child may better comprehend it.
