Entrepreneurs in India
“Entrepreneurship is that capacity in an individual to innovate. It involves a whole range of aptitudes like capacity to undertake risks, handle economic uncertainty, thrive in a competitive environment, and overcoming adverse situations”, said Sami Uddin, author of Entrepreneurship Development in India. Entrepreneurs are often regarded as bold individuals who persevere against the odds; a type of hero who will no doubt fix the economy. The Indian culture however, neglects entrepreneurial advances. The barriers keeping India from becoming an economically sound country is the fact that entrepreneurs are given an innumerable amount of obstacles that take the form of poor access to capital , ongoing legal requirements and

Today, however, it is imperative to teach entrepreneurship because “it encourages innovation, fosters job creation, and improves competitiveness” (Paltasingh). Seeing how much entrepreneurship can improve a country’s economic wealth should be enough motivation for the government and its citizens to bend the Indian culture enough to see its economy prosper. Being culturally accepted is an important part of the entrepreneur’s educational environment. To encourage more entrepreneurs, “a country needs a set of beliefs that make entrepreneurship a valid and respected career choice” (Kachru 36). Culture plays a key role in a young entrepreneur’s education because by having a conducive atmosphere suitable to provide the opportunities and encouragement separates those who are entrepreneurs and those who simply gave up from lack of …show more content…
One of many obstacles, and perhaps the most feared is failure. Failure is an inevitable factor when starting a business; however, one of the many keys to entrepreneurial success is the ability to fail. Because failure is an educational tool that allows entrepreneurs to learn not only from their own mistakes, but from those of others; India should welcome failure into its culture instead of considering it a stigma. Angel B. Perez, Vice president and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Pitzer College, in Claremont, Calif. stated that “failure is about growth, learning, overcoming and moving on.” The only thing that differentiates those who succeed and those who do not is a proper understanding of the power of failure. Failure simply provides knowledge that can be applied in future business ventures so as to prevail in the world of business. Paulo Coelho 's The Alchemist is an inspirational story that reinforces the importance of following one 's dreams and encourages readers to realize their personal legend, that is to say, their mission in life. If there is one important lesson Santiago learned, is to diligently pursue his dreams. People in India tend to put their dreams in permanent hold because their government is too afraid of failure. So many "people are afraid to pursue their most important dreams, because they feel that they don 't deserve
In addition, fearing the experience of failure enables us to feel vulnerable but vulnerability is the birth place of innovation, creativity, and change. Failure takes a hold of most people but regularly do they see it as a chance to learn and react. They step aside from the lessons that they play and give up. But in The Alchemist “The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.” (Coelho 11)In the end he felt fully elated and feeling alive brings birth to his adventure and a path to succeeding his personal legend. In an interview with my uncle, German, he talks about the fear of failure but most of all what comes from the acceptance of fear. Born in Mexico, the expectations from his parents where diminished to what
In my quest to gain as much knowledge of the business world as I can, I have come across another personal goal of mine: to overcome my immense fear of failure. Every regular human being has an innate fear of failing, whether it be because of societal pressure, or instinctually ingrained behaviors, it is present in everyone. The goal of taking this entrepreneurship class was originally to learn about creating your own business, but after reading Tina Seelig’s What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20: A Crash Course on Making Your Place in the World, I have become driven to be able to step out of my comfort zone. This book covers a multitude of topics, nearly all boiling down to one lesson; Always take the risk.
"You can not make decisions based on fear and the possibility of what might happen"(Michelle Obama); those who fear not being successful in their decisions are restrained in achieving total happiness. This is essentially true for Santiago, the protagonist in Paulo Coelho's adventure novel, The Alchemist. In this book, Santiago goes on a quest to the Pyramids of Egypt to fulfill his Personal Legend. Along the way, he meets many individuals who teach him various influential lessons about life; he must learn to trust himself instead of relying on the omens he receives and what others tell him. In the novel, it is revealed that many people choose not to pursue their dreams because of the fear of failure; fear limits individuals from making decisions that will ultimately help them get closer to their Personal Legends.
It’s inevitable to never fail. Everyone will fail at some point in their lives because perfection isn’t realistic. The question is, is failure fatal or a learning experience for success? The articles “The Right to Fail” by William K Zinsser and “In Praise of the “F” Word” by Mary Sherry both explore the concepts of failure. William Zinsser’s article makes the claim that failure is the only way for people grow and should not be looked at solely as negative. Mary Sherry’s article makes the claim that failure should not be feared by teachers and students but used as motivation for success. Both authors use evidence and appeals in similar and different ways to get their claim of failure being positive across to the audience.
Animal Testing is one of the most horrible things you could do to an animal. When an animal is tested you could cause it to become crippled for the rest of its life whether they make it blind or even making it to become paralyzed you could even cause extreme pain or death.
I choose jyoti Reddy as my entreneurship because she proved how nothing can stop human being from becoming whom he or she wants to be in life. There has been a large amount of attention paid to the subject of entrepreneurship in the last few years; mainly because most people have chosen to go from working for somebody else, to be their own bosses and work for their dreams. Nevertheless, many still wonder what is entrepreneurship and what is that sets entrepreneurs apart from other regular business owners. At first, it seems both concepts do not differ much from each other since they both start up and run businesses and assume risks to pursue opportunities; however, there are certain traits that difference them.
Entrepreneurship incorporates unconstrained imagination and a readiness to settle on choices without strong information. The entrepreneur may be driven by a need to make something new or assemble something unmistakable. As new ventures have low achievement rates, the business person should have impressive tirelessness. Because of this, the entrepreneur may have the best risk of achievement by concentrating on a business sector corner either too little or too new to have been commanded by built up organizations.
This paper examines the myths associated with what it takes to be an entrepreneur, the profiles and the common characteristics among these successful entrepreneurs.
The success of a business is greatly dependent on its entrepreneur. An entrepreneur is someone who takes the financial risk of starting and managing a new business venture. In order to be a successful entrepreneur, one must be ready to take a risk and invest one’s own savings into a business. The job requires that the individual be ambitious and committed to working hard in order to achieve the set targets. A successful entrepreneur is able to multi-task and communicates effectively with people, possessing leadership qualities such as confidence and motivation. The individual must play the role of constant motivator and inspire employees to improve their work performance, whilst ensuring a comfortable environment for the employees to work in. According to Schumpeter (1982), an entrepreneur is more of a ‘heroic’ than an ‘economic’ figure; his motivation should not solely be monetary, rather stemming more from inspiration and ambition.
Nowadays, entrepreneurship becomes most popular career, where our government encourages our graduated student to involve in business so that unemployment will not happen in our country. Policymakers, academics, and researcher agree that entrepreneurship is a vital route to economic advancement for both developed and developing economics (Zelealem et al., 2004). Entrepreneurship has many types for example small business and others. Today small business, particularly the new ones, is the main vehicle for entrepreneurship, contributing not just to employment, social and political stability, but also to innovation and competitive power (Thurik & Wennekers, 2004).
An entrepreneur is a person who organizes and manages a business undertaking, assuming the risk for the sake of profit. According to Martin (2010) an entrepreneur sees an opportunity which others do not fully recognize, to meet an unsatisfied demand or to radically improve the performance of an existing business. To have self-belief that this opportunity can be made real through hard work, commitment and the adaptability to learn the lessons of the market along the way. For example, When an almost bankrupt security company was offered to her, Datuk Maznah Hamid and her husband, who were eager to change their ordinary life, took the plunge and sacrificed RM5,000 of their saving. Only then she realized that apart from managing the operation, she also had to be a manager, a clerk, an accountant and a receptionist. To grow their business, they had to sell their house and moved to a slum that came without electricity. But she persevered. Today, it’s difficult to find someone who has never heard of Securiforce.
Entrepreneurship stands as a vehicle to improve the quality of life for individuals, families and communities and to sustain a healthy economy and environment. Rural entrepreneurship has emerged as a dynamic concept. If entrepreneurship really encouraged in rural area it would, of course, be instrumental in changing the face of rural areas by solving the problems of unemployment, poverty, economic disparity, poor utilization of rural capacity, low level of standard of living. The majority of the rural population depends directly and indirectly on agriculture based activities like livestock processing, agro processing, fishery, animal husbandry etc. Diversification into non-agricultural uses of available resources such as catering
Many people dream of becoming entrepreneurs someday. But it made me realize that there other factors that needs to be taken into consideration. We need to ask ourselves are we ready to take the challenge to the outside world. Not everyone have the vision, innovation and creativity to become an entrepreneur. The individual must have a positive attitude and accept the responsibility, have discipline to meet their goals, and take action when the opportunity presents itself. Many prefer a job security and rely on a weekly paycheck, while entrepreneurs will take risks and doesn 't have that luxury to know the amount of their income.
Entrepreneurship is a key driver of our economy, wealth and the majority of jobs are created through entrepreneurship, and it also helps and educates people in terms of growth and realizing opportunities (Nolan, 2003). Entrepreneurship is also seen as one of the important contributing factor to local development (Nolan, 2003).
