The Importance of Childhood Creativity As a child, no matter where you grew up or what race you are, you had fun. Obviously not all of the time, as you have responsibilities at all ages and times of your life, but children still have fun. May it be playing with dolls, joining a club, or playing sports, children find a way to enjoy themselves. As well as any aged human, children are creative. Some children might be more creative than others, but all children have a sense of creativity. Being creative can be a positive or a negative feature of a person, as creativity could cause you to find crafty ways to get around the law, while it is also possible to use your creativity to solve problems in stressful situations that could be potentially life threatening. When children play sports, they learn teamwork. Since they play with a set of rules created by adults that must be strictly followed, the children must work together to figure out how to use these rules to their advantage in order to win the game. By doing this, children build a sense of fellowship, teamwork and eventual acomplishment when they win. They also learn that not everybody wins, so they mature by dealing with their defeat and instead finding a way to win next time. Other activities such as community service or Girl/Boy Scouts, not only build a sense of teamwork, but also a sense of acheivement. The main goal of community service and the scouts is to make your community better in some way, and to help those in need. Children learn that by these organized activities they are making a group of people or just one person happier, and that gives the child a sense of acomplishment. I personally was a Boy Scout, and to this day I am proud of it and I know that the activities I participated in and the skills I learnd at that age still help me to this
Stephen D. Keener, writer for the New York Times, says in his article Sports Teach Kids Valuable Lessons, “The lessons young players gain between the foul lines have guided some to become astronauts, emergency first responders, bestselling authors, military heroes, professional athletes and even president of the United States” (Keener). Keener talks about how playing on a sports team as a child can teach the kid very important characteristics, like: teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship. Any kid who wants to get a job when they’re older is going to have to know how to work well with people, which is where learning the skill of teamwork is so huge. Considering Ripley’s point about sports lowering academics, Keener argues, “These lessons directly translate into the classroom and beyond” (Keener). It is my strong belief that each child is entitled to a safe, secure, stimulating and caring learning environment. I always believed that each child is a unique individual with much curiosity and many academic, social and emotional needs. Children need our support in order to mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. As a teacher, one should aim to help students in fulfilling their dreams to become successful and educated individuals. We must provide them with a safe learning environment for their learning to succeed.

They have traits that will earn them the job, like the ability to persevere or work well with others. And maybe this adult will not get the job, but they will learn from their mistakes and improve. Many of these traits are formed during childhood, and there is one activity that can teach these lessons to children: competitive sports. Competitive sports have numerous benefits to athletes, such as health and social skills.
In today’s world, our adolescence is faced with many challenges and obstacles that make it hard for them to overcome. Involvement in sports is an integral part of child development and teaches youth to lead active, healthy lives while developing many of the fundamental skills necessary for a child to succeed. Sports challenge children to excel physically and mentally, and teach valuable skills; such as, leadership, hard work and perseverance which translate beyond the playing field to all aspects of life, whether it be in the classroom, at work, or in the community. The individual benefits of involving youth in sporting activities transcend into benefits for the community as a whole. Participants experience a high degree of interaction with other individuals within their community, which not only benefits the child, but such interactions also translate into the community's social and economic development. Thus, in addition to the personal benefits for the child, youth involvement in sports also has a broader impact on the overall community. Participation in sports has a positive effect on reducing the involvement and exposure youths may have to violence and unethical activity. Sports offer children a positive alternative to idleness; which, if a child is consistently left without constructive activity, can often lead to violence. Sports help to eliminate differences between each other and cultural barriers by removing the separation between such groups through healthy competition and the realization of shared goals. The youth who play sports are more inclined to do better in school and later, are more likely to go on to college and achieve a successful job.
With regard to the other half of the statement, athletes of all ages develop more life skills than the average adolescent who does not engage in team activities. Teamwork, honesty, perseverance, commitment, and cooperation are just a few among many positive contributions of sport to peer relationships. Sports allow for an exciting venue in which youth actively rely on one another to contribute to the task at hand and achieve a common goal. Other youth organizations do not yield the same lessons. Boy scouts, for example, teach many skills and life lessons, but it does not focus on the type of fast passed teamwork like a
Creativity is a skill parents can help their children develop. Since creativity is a key to success in most of what we do, creativity is a core skill that should be practiced with children. Creativity is not limited to artistic and musical expression—it is also essential for science, math, and even social and emotional intelligence. Creative people are more flexible and better problem solvers, which makes them more able to adapt to technological advances and deal with change—as well as take advantage of new opportunities. All in all, creativity is the ability to form new ideas, often from old ideas. Therefore, the factors that affect creativity are not inherited.
Creativity, it’s a broad topic of just new things and ideas among people. The definition of creativity is the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work. PBS describes creativity as, “The new ideas and new connections between ideas, and ways to solve problems in any field or realm of our lives. The concept of creativity is often hard to grasp because creativity isn 't a tangible thing its just and idea. Also, because it’s hard to differ between a truly original idea and an idea that is just shaped from others. With all this being said, it can be hard to figure out where creativity comes from.
For an effective education creativity needs to be present within all aspects of a primary classroom. So what does it mean to be ‘creative’? According to Sir Ken Robinson “creativity is the process of having original ideas which have value”. Creativity can be demonstrated through the use of technology, problem solving experiments and allowing children the freedom to explore and express new ideas. It is very important to ensure a child can get the best creative education; this is because creativity will give the necessary skills needed for our future. Children must become creative problem solvers if they are in leadership positions as this will help them within society, even though all children may not be in a leadership position it is beneficial for them to have a creative mind-set. Because the world we live in is constantly developing new ideas, concepts and technology, creativity is definitely the most important quality a child can have. Sir Ken Robinson’s, (an international advisor on education) views on creativity in education will be discussed along with New Labour views which includes the National Advisory Committee on Creative and Cultural Education (NACCCE). The 1977 white paper, the open plan for schools, and the 2003 excellence and enjoyment strategy concepts will also be drawn on.
There are many people who believe and consider that creativity is affected by culture, the way that ideas, how concepts are introduced, and developed into a reality. In today’s market, creativity is linked to innovation, which is an appreciated and sought after skill to have in todays changing world. I agree with this statement and declaration with four reasons. Learning a first language in childhood is an experience that all normal functioning humans undergo.
