1. Do you feel it’s useful to think about your career like an entrepreneur? Why or why not? I think that no matter what career field I (or anyone else) chooses in life it is always useful to think about your career like an entrepreneur. Part of thinking like an entrepreneur is to be resourceful, which is something any person should be. In order to advance in my career, I have to succeed in the job I currently have and to do I have to, in part, be resourceful. Additionally, I have to be willing to take on a challenge and be to fearless throughout my career because the moment you begin to be afraid of the consequences, I will stop taking risks and challenging myself. When that happens, I will never be as good at my job as I was when I was fearless and willing to challenge myself and as a result my career will stall. Even if I am fearless I still have to be willing to accept defeat. However, when this happens I must listen to those around me and quickly recover and continue to work on build a successful career for myself. In my opinion, in the end, my career is my life and the best way to build a great career and a great life is to think and act like an entrepreneur.

How has taking this course changed the way you think about what you are posting on social media? What changes have you made (or plan to make in the near future)? While I have always been careful when it comes to posting on things on social media, this course has shown and validated my beliefs that you have to be very careful with what you post on social media. The LinkedIn account is only the second social media account that I have created (with Facebook being the first). The only reason for these accounts is for schoolwork, as my grade has a Facebook group, and this program. Other social media accounts, such as Snapchat, have never led to anything good and the stories I read about in the news only validates that
Have you ever been in a position where you where stuck and couldn’t decide between two careers? Whether it was something that you love to do or something that pays well? The answer may seem easy to you but when you start comparing the facts; that’s when it gets hard to choose. For many of us, graduates and people around the world have a difficult time choosing a career that can be a confusing process. A lot of people tend to settle down on a career quickly. Unfortunately, choosing a rapid occupation often leads to an unsatisfying path in the future, if not sooner. Eventually the individual decides to quit and start all over again. According to choosingacareer.net, “6% of workers over the age 50 are in the process of changing a career, resumes mailed to companies’ staffing departments only accounts for 3% of hires nationwide, and 95% of human resources managers and 95% of job seekers depend on personal contacts and networking to fill and find openings.” (choosingacareer.net) Choosing a career takes time and research, so it’s better to plan your future than rapidly pick one. Although some people claim they are happy with the career they chose of the bat, choosing a career carefully is much more effective because in the long run you will feel content and appreciate more with the choice you made.
“So often the best things in life that happen to you, the things that make all the difference happen by change or result from failure, not the result of careful planning” (Saxon ,438). I have spent many sleepless nights trying to think through an issue or plan to succeed only to find in the end I failed. I liken this to the old saying “hindsight is 20/20”. As humans, I find that it is always easier to find things that we do not want to do, but we still have a difficult time finding what it is we really enjoy. It seems we are all searching for a career that we love, and one that will support our lifestyle.
Many of my friends pick their careers based on money and trade skills that they have. I am proficient in art and design, but didn’t feel like that was what I wanted to do for my career. Your career shapes a huge portion of your life. It is what you do every day, for a large portion of your life. It is what I have prepared for the past 12 or so years of my life. It is way more than just money or a skill. I wanted to do something unique, something interesting, something that would inspire me to be a better human, something that would make me feel, something that is challenging, something that helped others, and above all, something that was rewarding and made me feel fulfilled.
Also with being successful in your career, you should make sure that you are passionate about it. Being that you have to give your all with a career, you have to make sure that with being passionate that you will not even notice the 200% that you're giving. When building and being successful in your career, an article on self-growth.com suggests that you first create a strategy and make sure you do so once a year, to refresh your skills. Then it suggests that you do not limit yourself when dealing with a job, by going the extra mile and doing more of what is expected of you. This allows you to learn new skills, which is great and much needed when succeeding in your career. (Tomerson)
What did you learn from this course? List at least 5 of them and discuss how you plan to use them for your work/home/relationships.
Thousands of people can’t get a job or go to college because of something stupid they did online. Businesses started checking their employee’s social media pages in 2006. Colleges started checking their student’s social media pages about 6 years after businesses did. Businesses and Colleges started checking on people's social media pages in 2006 and still do it to this day. When information is put out on Social Media and people can judge you freely because of something stupid you did, it should not persuade college’s or the Business’s opinions.
My ultimate value is my family. My vision for my own self is to live happily with my family in the future. I love to spend my spare time with them. Hanging around with friends and family make me feel well. I love to play on computer. I also love to play with the magical numbers. I like surfing on the internet, exploring new things, reading articles related with health, life, and economic events such as the stock market, financial companies, investment corporations, etc. I think being a citizen of a country, we should somewhat at different aspects of life to better know how well or bad the economy of our country is experiencing. My goal is to become a businessperson. I believe doing business is an important way to improve the economy of a nation. I did a research on two different careers. However, they are sort of having a relation with each other. Both of them are in the business field – accounting and financial analyzing.
Choosing which career path to follow is one of the most important decision people take in their lifetime. Considering that this decision will affect the entire future life, it is very important to be sure that it is the right one. It is one of the most important steps in order to successfully find a job that would satisfy personality needs and guarantee a steady income. If he or she is passionate about their job, hard work is simplified and high salary helps to concentrate on results. The key about being successful at work is to be in love with it.
Coming to the point of my current career choice has been a long road. My idea of what a career is or should be has changed with circumstances and age. According to Weintraub (2005), “the average worker spends only four years in a job and will have 12 jobs in as many as five career fields during his or her working life.” (para. 1) My first career was marriage and motherhood followed by a surprising healthcare career. What the future holds waits to be seen. With a bachelor of science degree in information technology the options are wide open.
I believe you should do what you love in life, whether you do it to relieve the stress from a bad day, or you choose to go out and make a career out of what you love to do. It will enrich your life in the long run, and make you feel like your life has meaning to it, that you actually accomplished something and didn't waste your life doing things that don't meaning anything. I'm not alone in this belief there are plenty of people that share this believe. I've already mentioned that Henry David Thoreau agreed, but there are several other people also. David Frost once said “Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally” (“David Frost”).
Possibly the biggest choice of any person's life remains what vocation to go into. Even areas people have skills in may not give enough satisfaction to turn into a career, whether that satisfaction stays financial or otherwise. Whatever occupation I choose, I sincerely hope that the trek will remain on its uncertain and awesome course.
If you’re highly motivated and have a great passion towards a certain career, then there will be chances of failure, which many people can’t afford. Many people can possibly be afraid of failure and are not willing to take risks, taking risks help adapt to certain situations that can be very reliable towards a career. Failure is what helps us improve to become stronger and smarter, this is a step that we must take several times before we can achieve our goals. Also, many people can become impatient and just focuses on the end result, no matter what it is we always want it right away, this can cause many people to lose sight on what they really want to be. Their can also be serious situations as well.
Choosing a career can be an overwhelming experience, one may be plagued with concerns over making the incorrect career choice, being stuck in a certain field, or splurging on the incorrect major in college. While one has to make that decision on their own, there are certain tools that could help someone make that choice. One tool is career theories. There are many different theories on career choice and development, and they each have valid points. However, the two theories that I found resonated the most with my own experiences of occupational choice and development are Rhoes theories, and Super’s theory. Rhoe’s theory suggests that there is a strong correlation between a person’s childhood experiences, and how to they choose
When it comes to business, especially when it comes to starting one, I tend to think I know it all. Yet in reality, I don't really even know how to get started, enough to make a business efficient, or even get the doors open enough to make the first dollar. When I first think of working/operating a business, I think of no boss but myself, the rules are made by me and no one else, and that seems like a great plan in my eyes. As well as having all company profit coming directly to me, and I get to decide what happens with it. Although I know there is more to it than that, there is forming a budget, working with customers, knowing when to expand, and when to coast through. I also know that in the world of business, that if you aren't moving ahead, you are moving backwards.
Entrepreneurship is an important aspect of social, economic and community life. It can be viewed as a critical factor to economic growth as well as a way of addressing unemployment (Nolan, 2003).Entrepreneurs are people who are persistently focused on identifying opportunities, they seek to create something worthwhile while taking into account foreseeable risk and rewards associated with the efforts (Nolan, 2003). Furthermore, entrepreneurs are frequently understood to be individuals who discover market needs and establish new business to meet those identified opportunities. The following assignment will firstly discuss the types of entrepreneurship, secondly it will discuss the reasons people become entrepreneurs, and thirdly it will discuss the importance of entrepreneurship.
