An operating system is abbreviated as OS, an OS controls and manages the hardware and other software on a computer. Operating system, a programmed that load in computer at initial step by a boot program. An operating system manages to control all the programs that are running in a system. OS is a powerful, and usually large, program. Operating system is software that controls PC’s hardware and software. Operating system keeps tracking files and directories on the disk and it also controls disk drive and printer. Operating system got many responsibilities and power as in large system. It work like a traffic controller it does not mix different program and user working at a same time, operating system does not let different program and user to interfere with one and other. Operating system in also responsible of security. Operating system ensures that the unauthorized user can not use or access computer. Software platform is also been provided by operating system. It is also called application program. By commanding to a system, user normally collides with operating system. DOS is an example of it. Such commands like copy or rename are contained in an operating system. It copies or changes the name of file. Command processor accepts the command that user give, in one part of an operating system, it is also called command line …show more content…
The Basic features of OS were developed in the 1950 such as resident monitor functions it automatically run different programs in same time in succession to speed up processing. Earlier in 1960 OS was not existed in their modern and complex form. In 1960 single operating system was introduced by IBM. A distant descendant is the current operating system in IBM. The scope of operating system was developed by Control Data Corporation. In 1980 when personal computer becomes famous at that time operating system was made similar. The earlier electronic digital system in 1940 had no operating system. A computer can only work at a single program at a time, earlier in 1950. A program was uploaded into a machine and machine set its self to work until program complete or crashed. Later machine were built to libraries of program which link users program to assist in operation. It was called the genius of modern day O S. But still machine were running on single job at a
Processor (CPU) – The processor, also known as the Central Processing Unit runs the operating system and other applications. It is constantly receiving data from the user or other active software. The data is then processed and then an output is produced which either will be displayed on screen or stored by an application.
...ctioned, communicated, and performed their daily activities. In doing this however, they must stay on top of other competitors by creating new innovative ways to attract the consumers. Some had a long history while others had a short one. Some were provided great feature while others didn’t do so well in this area. One thing is for certain, each operating system provided a use for many consumers that helped not only in the personal lives of many but also within the business world. As we see the history shows that once upon a time what began as a way to for businesses to operate has now turned into a way that people communicate. Technology continues to grow and advance and with that waiting to see what the future holds is a mystery but I’m certain that it will be world of amazement especially seeing where operating systems have come from to where they are currently.
Through this evolution the kernel and associated software were extended until a complete operating system was written on top of the kernel in the language C. UNIX APPLICATION PROGRAMMING INTERFACE Many proprietary operating systems have a simplified view of application behavior. The typical application reads some data from disk, tape or a terminal and does some processing. Output is produced onto disk, tape, tape, terminal, or printer. The operating systems generally provide easy to use well-implemented facilities to support these types of facilities. As applications become more sophisticated they need new features such as network access, multi-tasking, and interprocess communications.
When Windows XP came out in October 21, many people happily to get the newest operating system. The pro about the operating system; finally it has improved theme by it look and graphic because of the desktop navigation (looks different from it earlier operating system, Windows 200), it will detect any hardware as it will automatically search to find the driver from the internet (such as printer, flash drives, etc.) so the hardware will be able to use. The networks in Windows XP were easier because of the installation wizard to complete the use for the networking. There are some other things that I’d like to work in Windows XP, but sometimes the updates changes things and improve things in Windows XP, including updates for getting rid of viruses. The cons of Windows XP was also become more vulnerable and getting hit mostly by viruses and malware attacks (due getting updates, sometimes the update was annoying because they were forced to be downloaded and install, including have the computer to restart to finish the process). There was a few thing that was taking out of Windows XP when it was upgraded from 2000 too, such as having background changes disabled in documents (I miss those, they were cool). The infamous “Send” and “Don’t send” error report was popping up too often. Some software do have incompatibility when they was built to use for older operating system, sometimes you might have to look for the update when the automatic update can’t find them.
As the internet is becoming faster and faster, an operating system (OS) is needed to manage the data in computers. An Operating system can be considered to be a set of programed codes that are created to control hardware such as computers. In 1985 Windows was established as an operating system and a year earlier Mac OS was established, and they have dominated the market of the computer programs since that time. Although, many companies have provided other operating systems, most users still prefer Mac as the most secured system and windows as it provides more multiple functions. This essay will demonstrate the differences between windows
In todays modern society, it seems there are not many things people have a stronger opinion than over their technology. And there is nothing more important to those phones, tablets, and computers than their operating system. For the past few years the most popular operating systems have been Apple and Windows. At first glance they might appear to be polar opposites although that is not entirely true, because the systems have much more in common than one would think. These two products have a multitude of similarities as well as differences.
Windows hardware’s has played a vital role in current technology of computer era. Computer application has significantly changed the workloads and manual records and information keeping has been significantly managed easily. This has been tremendously associated with the respective improvements with the software and hardware application development and Windows Xp and windows 7 have been most powerful operating system used by many computer applicants and users.

The significance of the role of the Operation System (OS) in the overall Information Technology employment sector cannot be undervalued. Indeed, it is hard to talk about technical skill-sets or the practical application of such skill-sets without at least some underlying understanding of their context within a computer operating system environment. From hardware specifications and requirements, user technical support, system administration and security, to software development and system implementation, operating systems are an integral part of the information technology and computing world in all its aspects, and it is difficult to form a concrete demarcation between specialized careers in this industry and the concept of the computer operating system.
A computer program is executable software that runs on a PC or computer system (Christensson). An executable file is a type in a computer file that runs a program when it opens (Christensson). Software is the instructions tell the computer what to do (“Software”). Software is the entire set of programs, procedures, and routines associated with the operation of a computer system, including the operating syst...
There are many things we can differ between Mac OS and Windows OS, especially in term of how it works and runs and also what other things that one had and for other don’t have. Some information of Mac OS and Windows OS is shown as below.
An Operating system is system software that controls the system’s hardware that interacts with users and the application software. As we all may know, Windows Microsoft has always been a commercial high-level sale in the retail industry and an in domain operating system used today. But there are more operating systems than just Windows Microsoft than the general population may assume. Linux is another well-known operating systems, which is free and open-source software. Linux is also used in companies we would have never thought of like Google, NASA, USPS, Amazon and many more companies. Linux and Microsoft operating systems have been in competition to see which one is the best operating system in the market. There are so many resemblances
System units are commonly mistaken as the Central Processing unit (CPU). System units sometimes called “computer chassis”, “base units” or “Tower cases” however are simply the housing for the integral parts of a computer. System units usual house all components of a computer excluding the monitor, Keyboard and mouse. System Units are a very simple component of the computer because they do none of the actual computing. They are usually just a square or rectangular prism made of some type of plastic or metal that hold all of the vital parts of a computer in a secure manner. Other than that there is not much to be said about the system unit.
Let’s start by defining a few words the definition for Software means computer instructions or data. Anything that can be stored electronically is software (http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/S/software.html). If you are not familiar with this definition then the difference between system and application could be very confusing.
computer architecture Computer architecture covers the design of system software, such as the operating system (the program that controls the computer), as well as referring to the combination of hardware and basic software that links the machines on a computer network. Computer architecture refers to an entire structure and to the details needed to make it functional. Thus, computer architecture covers computer systems, microprocessors, circuits, and system programs. Typically the term does not refer to application programs, such as spreadsheets or word processing, which are required to perform a task but not to make the system run.
