September 11th, 2001: The Day that Shocked the World. As the American society grows, with each passing day getting farther from the event that changed the world, we have grown to ignore the events of September 11th. I was only two when September 11th happened, and I have grown up in the society that was shaped by September 11th. The American society has completely changed because of the events on September 11th. Since the September 11th attacks, the US has grown and created new intelligence offices, redefined what it means to fly, and has been involved in many different ongoing wars. I remember my first time at an aAirport, in about 2005. There was a very long wait to get through security, and I was impatient, as all other 6 year olds were. I remember asking my mom what was taking so long, and why there were so many people waiting to get on planes. She told me that everyone had to be checked by security in order to get on the plans. I didn’t understand that they had to check and make sure no one brought anything dangerous onto the plane. My mother told me that youwe didn’t always have to wait, and that you used to be able to go to the airport 30 minutes before the flight, and walk on without having to go through security. I thought that was a dream, and that she was crazy, but before the 9/11 attacks, the Transportation Security Administration did not exist, and you could walk onto a plane with whatever you wanted. The TSA was created because of the events of 9/11, and the incredibly through security screening that we have to go through now is one of the effects of the destruction on 9/11. One of the advances were the wireless network technology, which also allowed for the modern cell phone to riseaise. Since the events of September 11th, technology has made many bounds, to the point where the technology that I carry around in my pocket is ten times more complex than what was used to put a man on the moon in the 1960s. After college, I want to work with companies to protect the fancy technology that I carry in my pocket, whether it just be the device itself, or the software that is on the device. I could work to develop a more secure banking system, or just to provide some entertainment to people. Overall, I just want to protect the people of this great country in any way possible, but I can only do that by getting a college
