INTRODUCTION

What does immigration actually mean? Immigration is a term which is used to describe the process of moving people form one country to another in order to live there permanently.

In the past years, massive immigration in the United Kingdom started. The main reasons why people decided to immigrate to Britain were job opportunities, some of them were running away from religious persecution and poverty others were coming to the United Kingdom because of educational and economic motives.

These effects put British people into disadvantage, one sample is that immigrants are given priority in housing benefits from government.

The last type of outcomes from immigration into the United Kingdom are the neutral consequence, some examples are multiculturalism and the percentage of international students studying at universities. This category includes aftereffects, which have advantages but also disadvantages for British people.

The last section of the essay will give more information about what British people think about immigration into their country.
