La multitud errante es una historia de migrantes pero una historia de amor también. El protagonista, que es un hombre de camino que ya lleva toda su vida en búsqueda de la tierra prometida, se llama Siete por tres. Todo lo ha dejado atrás. Incluyendo su nombre, pero de alguna manera, Siete por tres va en contra del corriente del gran flujo de migrantes; todos están en búsqueda de un trabajo, mientras que Siete por tres van en contra vía porque el esta en búsqueda de una mujer que se le perdió en los tráfagos de la guerra. En determinado momento Siete por tres llega a un refugio para desplazados y allí encuentra a una extranjera que trabaja para un organismo humanitario. Al conocerse, Siete por tres le explica que esta en búsqueda de una mujer que se llama Matilde Lina y que le ayude a encontrarla. Esta tarea es imposible; es como buscar una aguja en un pajar porque ambos están en un lugar con gente sin documentos, gente sin hogar, sin techo, sin casa. De todas maneras ella se presta para ayudarlo y en la media que lo hace lo van conociendo y se enamora de el. Esta es la historia de un triangulo de amor y la búsqueda de la identidad que están tan entrelazados.
Esta extranjera desde que ve a Siete por tres, ya sabe que hay peligro, “aquí hay dolor, aquí me espera el dolor, de aquí debo huir.” (pg. 5, electrónico). Inmediatamente ella sabe que este enamoramiento le va a traer problemas o dolores. Existe la convicción de que todo desplazamiento, toda emigración son dos viajes. Un viaje externo por la geografía, un viaje mas físico y también hay un viaje interno, dentro de uno mismo, un viaje iniciático. Este tema del amor se ve muy claramente a través de la obra literaria de Laura Restrepo, pero es, sin olvidar de mencionar que el tema de la búsqueda de la identidad, es la otra mitad del puzzle. Siete por tres es sin duda este símbolo. El deja atrás su tierra que conoce, a sus seres queridos, su idioma, y con este escapismo donde vemos que es el desplazado el que lidera y lleva la trayectoria o rumba de la cultura.
Este triangulo amoroso entre Ojos de Agua, Siete por tres y Matilde Lina esta vinculada con la identidad, y es esto lo que hace que fluya el amor entre los tres. Son las complejidades que cada personaje posee, y el desplazamiento que cada uno vive, que hace que realmente se una la obra literaria, y que florezca el amor fantasmagórico y la identidad.
The story ‘Norma’ is written by Sonia Sanchez, who describes in the story that how she used to look up to another girl in her school named Norma. Norma was intelligent, attractive, and everything that made a person perfect. But then as they grew up, Norma started doing drugs, and got pregnant while she was still in high school. She got kicked out of school, and wasn’t seen for a long time. Then after a few years, Sonia and Norma met again, and agreed to get together often. After leaving, Sonia vows to herself to never agree again, as she did not accept Norma as her role model anymore.
In Deborah Tannen’s “Marked Woman, Unmarked Men” she illustrates how she believes the way women carry themselves are more looked upon then the way a man does. When it comes to women they had to take what they look like into consideration and each decision that the woman has made, carried a meaning. Men have to make decisions as well, however their decisions are not as notable as woman. I support Tannen’s argument about women being marked. Woman are marked by what they wear to who they marry. Nonetheless, I do believe both genders are marked in some kind of way. Men are marked, just not to the extent as woman are. And when they are marked it is not as open and discussed. When Tannen did include men into her argument she made her observation
“Like Water for Chocolate” by Laura Esquivel, is a beautiful romantic tale of an impossible passionate love during the revolution in Mexico. The romance is followed by the sweet aroma of kitchen secrets and cooking, with a lot of imagination and creativity. The story is that of Tita De La Garza, the youngest of all daughters in Mama Elena’s house. According to the family tradition she is to watch after her mother till the day she does, and therefore cannot marry any men. Tita finds her comfort in cooking, and soon the kitchen becomes her world, affecting every emotion she experiences to the people who taste her food. Esquivel tells Titas story as she grows to be a mature, blooming women who eventually rebels against her mother, finds her true identity and reunites with her long lost love Pedro. The book became a huge success and was made to a movie directed by Alfonso Arau. Although they both share many similarities, I also found many distinct differences. The movie lost an integral part of the book, the sensual aspect of the cooking and love.
The Theme shows itself most prominently in the second to the last paragraph. In this section El Capitán continues dancing on and on even though Eloísa is not longer present in his arms. Even in her absence the music continues to play and El Capitán continues to dance alone until La Mexicana joins him. The technique of imagery used to describe in detail the physical characteristics also expresses and fortifies the theme of unrequited love.
Elena Poniatowska escrita durante una epoca de cambio en Mexico. Antes de sus obras las mujeres mexicanas eran sometidos, docil, y pasivo. En la tiempo de sus obras las mujeres estaba tratando salir de los estereotipos de antes. Esta problema social tomo un afecto en Elena. Aunque ella no viene de un movimiento literatura directamente, ella escrita con el concepto de compremetido. En su narrative El Recado ella crea un mujer estereotipical que no puede controlar sus emociones. La titula es eso porque ella viene a ver su amante, pero el no esta, asi ella escribe las cosas que sentia. La perspectiva es de un personaje y ella nunca interacta con otros personajes. En facto la unica descripcion de un personaje otro de la protagonista es de su amante Martin. Habla de otros personajes, pero solamente de sus acciones. Porque ellas es la unica perspectiva que tenemos es sencillo a sentar compasion para una protagonista de quien nombre no aun sabemos. Ella da la descripcion de toda que vea, y mas importante todo que se sienta. Tambien tropos y figuras retoricas dan un tono significante al poema. Estos sentimientos de la portagonista y el tono emocional de la narrativa transporta una tema de una mujer estereotipical y debil quien quiere ser reconocido.
Junot Diaz’s “Otravida, Otravez” depicts a perspective of life where one’s present and future always reflects their past in some way. Diaz’s representation of symbolic figures, convey how a person’s past can be carried into the future. Diaz’s use of symbolic figures includes the dirty sheets washed by Yasmin, the letters sent by Virta to Ramon, and the young girl who begins working with Yasmin at the hospital. These symbolic figures and situations remind the readers that the past will always play a major role in one’s present. Additionally, Diaz’s word choice, where Spanish words appear in many different parts of the reading, suggests that indirectly, one’s past habits are not easily broken.

The landscape in this poem is ominous, violent and inflexible: "hendido por el rayo." Therefore, landscape acts as a way of revealing inner emotion and Spanish National character throughout the collection.

Family is one of the most important institutions in society. Family influences different aspects of a person’s life, such as their religion, values, morals and behavior. Unfortunately, problems may arise when an individual’s belief system or behavior does not coincide with that of family standards. Consequently, individuals may be forced to repress their emotions or avoid acting in ways that that are not acceptable to the family. In the novel The Rain God, written by Arturo Islas, we are presented with a story about a matriarchal family that deals with various conflicts. One major internal conflict is repression. Throughout the novel the characters act in strange ways and many of the family members have internal “monsters” that represent the past that they are repressing. In his article, “The Historical Imagination in Arturo Islas’s The Rain God and Migrant Souls”, Antonio C. Marquez’s implicitly asserts a true idea that The Rain God is a story about repression. Marquez’s idea can be supported from an analysis of secondary sources and a reading of the primary text.

The short stories “Souls Belated” and “The Yellow Wallpaper” have in common ‘Marriage’ as main theme. However, the marriage is treated quite differently in both short stories. In "Souls Belated", Lydia chooses to take control of her destiny, to deviate from conventions and to choose what is good for her. She is the strongest character of the couple. Whereas, in "The Yellow Wallpaper", the name of the main character who is also the narrator of the story is not known. She is identified as being John’s wife. This woman, contrary to Lydia in "Souls Belated" is completely locked up in her marriage. This essay will first describe and compare the characters of Lydia and John's wife in the context of marriage, and then it will look at how marriage is described, treated and experienced by couples in these two short stories.
