I never finished anything in my life. To date, I have projects that I started and never finished. Nothing in my life had ever struck a cord in my mind so fiercely I was compassionate enough to drive myself to the brink of insanity to accomplish it. I guess I just want fulfillment, but I only feel a void big enough to fit in Crater Lake.
I always wanted to play an instrument. In 7th grade I got a chance to. I started playing the Viola. I was instantly great at it. I practiced and practiced my heart out. I even achieved a superior on a solo I performed at a Solo and Ensemble competition. It started to bore me. Then I quit. Do I regret it? Yes, but I can’t go back. It’s just another useless skill I have.
In 6th grade, I wanted to be an actress. I studied drama for 3 years in middle school. Many nights I stayed up practicing and racking my brain to the point of a headache trying to memorize line after line. I was in a couple of plays, and even scored a superior in a Junior Thespian Competition for Ensemble acting. I still have the pin I received. I also directed my 8th grade drama class’ play called Break. I haven’t performed since.
Again in middle school, I took a dance class. I wanted to become a dancer very much. I learned ballet, hip-hop, jazz, and many other types. I didn’t have much skill in that area. I wasn’t as near as talented as the other girls, and the occasional guy. I quit after a year. I don’t have any regrets in that area, none what so ever.
In 8th grade, I was going to participate in the school wide science fair, but that never happened. I had an interesting topic; “Do your fingerprints tell what hair color you have?” I bought all the supplies, and had the backing of my science teacher Mr. Van Brunt. I never completed it. I wish I did.
I took golf lessons about year ago. I didn’t show much promise though, Paid 100$ for them too. Due to recent happenings, I grew into a deep depression at the time. Out of 8 weeks, I only completed 5 or 6. Now I prefer online golf, it’s not as frustrating.
This year, I was on the color guard team: the Titanettes.
I've always wanted to be an actor. I've always liked performing. We used to live in Alberta, and I didn't have much opportunity there. But we moved here {Vancouver, BC}, and I got an agent, and here I am.
I began golfing in the past five years. I went out for the high school team and made it on the varsity co-ed team. I was the only girl, but I was determined to make it.
Liz Meyrovich, 19, moved 3,000 miles away from the Portland, Oregon home she grew up in to attend Emerson College, one of Boston’s many prestigious performing arts schools. Unlike many other aspiring actors and actresses who move to Los Angeles straight out of high school and work in minimum wage service industry jobs while going on numerous auditions, Meyrovich decided that she would get a degree. She was a musical theatre major, hoping that a degree from Emerson would fuel her career as an actress. But one year and $32,000 later, she came to the realization that it wasn’t going to happen.
Since the age of two, I have been dancing. I have been involved in lyrical and classical ballet, contemporary, pointe, hiphop, jazz and tap. When I turned 6 I also took up gymnastics. Through middle school I danced, and did gymanstics as well as softball and soccer. I loved these sports but when high school hit, I had to pick one and I chose cheerleading. I chose this sport because it was not only a extraordinary team athletically but they were extremely involved with the community. We had fundraisers for less fortunate children multiple times and even got to interact with them every winter. The leadership role on the cheer team taught me so much, we lead the entire student body to have school spirit and respect at the football games every friday night. My senior year I decided to switch back to dance and tried out for my high school dance team, and made it! It has been such a blessing to me by showing me even more leadership and how to serve others at our school and in the community.
People have dreams of what they want to do or accomplish in life, but usually musical theatre is just pushed into the non-realistic void. It isn’t a dream for me. In the past four years, musical theatre has been clarified as my reality. Musical theatre has been the only thing I have seen myself wanting to do. My first love was The Phantom of the Opera, seeing how I watched it almost every day and it was one of the first shows I saw. Of course, I started doing all of those cute shows in middle school and making a huge deal about it to my family and friends, but I have never felt so passionate about something. As a pharmacist, it is important to be skilled in nonverbal communication and effective listening. Pharmacists should also be able to overcome communication barriers and effectively cope with conflicts. A pharmacist who is able to incorporate all of these concepts into their practice will succeed at caring for patients.
For the sake of conformity, I had to accomplish this task so that I could put a smile on my parents’ faces, even though I despised that guitar with all my heart. I went week after week to the instructor, and week after week, I would come back distressed and tired of the lessons and of the incredible amount of practice hours required.
When I was a kid, I tried every sport out there. I was in basketball, softball, and even gymnastics. From all those sports, excluding gymnastics, I realized that I do not enjoy the pressure of competing directly with another team. Because of that, I quit each of them after a year or two. Dance I continued throughout elementary school and until now. In middle school and high school I added other activities, like cheerleading, speech, show choir, and more.
I am now more comfortable playing roles such as the initiator and recorder. Furthermore, I now know the scope of practice of professionals like occupational therapist, physical therapists and social workers. Attending the Help Save Stan simulation also had a positive impact on my learning. In the ‘Simena’ simulation, I saw a resident who was experiencing difficulty in communicating with a patient, due to his belief that the patient was drunk and dependent on pain medication. From this scenario, I was able to identify the need for professionals to listen to patients without making assumptions because patients are the expert of their own symptoms and have all the key data (Warren, 2015). Again, in the ‘Say what’ simulation, I was able to identify how communication affects patient safety. In this scenario, I received a change of shift report with some vital details missing. Since safe clinical handover is a requirement for safe patient care, the use of structured communication tools, such as SBAR (situation, background, assessment and recommendation) will provide a framework for providing key information (Guadine & Lamb,
Like any first experience we remember all the details of the event. I remember my first dance class at J in Jazz Dance Studio. I was under the instruction of Julie Pederson who was one of the young faces in my little town of Sierra Vista. I was thirteen and thought that the class was awesome. Now if you are under the impression that I was great the first time around you are wrong. I was the one goofy awkward kid who was there having fun. Julie thought that I would be gone by the end of three months because I couldn’t hack it. She was just glad that I was there having fun and being a good student. According to some experts, since I started after the age of ten I was not supposed to be any good. Just six months after starting, something somewhere happened to both me and my dance ability. I was put on the competition/performance team, and then I just kept excelling from there. Every year or two, I was put on a higher more difficult team.
There’s no point in going through life as a shadow, going through the motions of everyday life without ever doing something that makes you feel fulfilled. I look back at my past and I see nothing but an empty soul that is lost.
