Recommended: A three hundred word essay on social justice

When looking over the philosophical approaches to social justices and thinking about how they fit into my worldview. I believe the one that fits my worldviews the most is the approach called liberal. The reason why I believe this is congruent to my views is because the principle of this approach is that there is economic liberty and political equality for all. I believe people should be treated equal no matter what their race, gender, height, sexual orientation and other traits are.

In my eyes, a gay person should not be treated less equal than a straight person. I believe two people of the same races should be treated equal and have the same opportunities. When I was thinking about what I wanted to write for this assignment I thought back to a time when an African American coach who was qualified for a big job got turned down simply because the university did not approve of his wife being Caucasian. A man was treated unfairly all because of race. There are several states that won’t allow gay couples to get married yet straight couples can make a mockery out of marriage and what it stands for but get treated more equal than a gay couple.

The Oxford dictionary defines liberal as a person being open to new behavior or opinions and they are willing to discard traditional values. An example of this could be couples deciding to have children before getting married. It has been debated that the “traditional” thing to do is get married and then have children but a liberal does not see it that way. The definition of liberal could also relate to people being pro-choice when it comes to the debated subject of abortion.

Another aspect that I don’t agree with about oligarchy is that it says that inequality is acceptable and it promotes social well-being. The way I take this aspect is that it’s alright for inequality be present and that a person will be alright if they are treated unequal because that might be the best choice for them. This whole approach is the opposite of what being a liberal is and it’s sad that some countries a part of this and believe it’s the only normal way to live. Oligarchy is everything I don’t stand for and believe in.

I do realize that everyone has different opinions about how certain approaches are related to their worldviews but I do believe that we all deserve a fair and equal chance at life without feeling defeated or judged or without someone having power over our lives simply because they are royal or wealthy.
