I was mugged tonight.
It was about 11pm, and I was walking home from the gym, and for some reason I decided to the Other Route.
I walked down Valencia to 15th instead of 14th, and headed down the block that's supposed to be one of the worst in the city, along the side of the Valencia Street Projects.
It was a beautiful, warm night, and tons of people were hanging out outside. It looked like a few drug deals were being had, but usually no one hassles me. I was wearing my torn up jeans jacket that I bought 13 years ago in high school, my jogging shorts and old Nikes, and my hair was all messy. How the hell could I have looked like a person with money?
I was walking down this one particular block, thinking to myself, "wow, racism is bad." And then I thought about how this block was one of the first things that people warned me about when I moved into my hood, and how mad at me my ex-boyfriend John would be if he knew I was walking down that street, and how my parents would be pissed, and how really, logically speaking, it was a pretty stupid thing to do.
But I made eye contact with one dude who was pretty cute and he smiled at me and I smiled at him and I kept walking, thinking, "well, there are some cute people in the projects."

Why bother filing a report?
These skinny kids have enough problems without having the cops go in there and remind them how desperate and lacking in dignity they are.
In the war between good and evil, it is not always who walks away with the goods, but the who deserved them in the first place, and how they were attained.
So I trotted home to write this up. Thirty bucks for a story to tell.
Not a bad deal, really.
The battle of good versus evil is present in all aspects of life. Actions taken by people can determine how others view them. Some choose to do what is right and good, while others choose what is wrong and evil. Many characters are forced to choose between the two, and some do not foresee the consequences of their actions. In the book Peace Like a River by Leif Enger, actions committed by the Davy, Jeremiah, and Jeremiah’s friends, both good and evil, always have consequences.
Facing troubling times, many adolescence can contest to debating the value of facing their struggles in life and the tempting unknown of death. Facing the murder of his father and his mother’s hasty marriage to the murder, young Hamlet releases his inner struggles in his famous soliloquy. Through the use of contrasting diction, vivid imagery, and repetitive syntax Shakespeare portrays Hamlet’s conflicting thoughts and relatively unstable state of mind.
“We all fight on two fronts, the one facing the enemy, the other facing what we do to the enemy” (Boyden 199).
In the memoir A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah, it is apparent that all people are capable of evil, from children to adults, it is all dependent of the situation they are in, and in a situation of a war, evil becomes acceptable, which is seen throughout the memoir. Beah was not born evil, he was a twelve year old boy who wrote down lyrics to songs, walked miles on miles to be able to perform in his friend’s talent shows, and he was just a child, until he was subjected to the civil war of Sierra Leone. Beah starts out with small acts of evil, he is not accustomed to having to do such things. Beah writes of one of his first acts of evil in the war “That night we were so hungry that we stole people’s food while they slept” (29). Some may not consider
In Hamlet’s first soliloquy (ll. 1.2.129-159), Shakespeare uses a biblical lexicon, apostrophes, and depictions of corporeal decay to show Hamlet’s preoccupation with the fate of a person after death.
As more events led to the questioning of Hamlet’s sanity, the reader was given a glimpse into the mind of Hamlet in the famous “To be or not to be” soliloquy. Hamlet’s questions of life and contemplation of suicide revealed h...

In today’s world where there are so many conflicts, battles, and wars happen all at the same time it is very important to ensure that the means that are being used will be justified in the end. From the wars in Iraq, and Afghanistan to civil conflicts taking place in Sudan and regions of the former Soviet Union conflicts are happening everywhere. Are these conflicts just or will the outcome not outweigh the losses that will inevitably happen. One such case that we can look at to see if the end did justify the means is by looking at both ...

...r how necessary, nor how justified, is not a crime”. It is a common occurrence to forget about the people who suffer and die at the merciless hands of the evil dictator called War. It might be possible, as long as those people are remembered and taken care of, to reshape what the world thinks a justified war means.
War is something that nobody wishes for but unfortunately, the leaders of some superpowers believe that it is necessary when in fact all they are doing is killing the world. The effects of war has had on mankind have had a profound effect as to how the world acts today. Although man has changed drastically, hatred is something that has managed to stay constant no matter where one goes; one could come to the conclusion that hatred is everywhere and there is no escape from it. Unfortunately for the world, this hatred is passed down as the years pass by, thus confirming the Golding’s statement, “Man is inherently evil”. Saying this, humans are the masters of their own fates and history shows that clearly humanity is taking advantage of this fact. Throughout history, man has passed its evil ways from generation to generation and as a result, the world is slowly killing itself because of the hateful doings of mankind.
The only characters to soliloquize in Shakespeare’s tragedy Hamlet are King Claudius and Prince Hamlet, the latter delivering seven notable soliloquies with much psychological content. However, the psychological dimension of others is presented.
Theater in the Elizabethan Era changed the way people lived, and vice versa. Without theater back in the 16th century, life today could, and would, be very different. The Theatre in the Elizabethan Era was greatly impacted on the different historical events that were in the Era and they were mirrored in many plays, specifically Shakespeare’s play, The Tempest. Other people could argue that theater was merely another extracurricular activity people could partake in. However, facts collected over the years have shown that theater was very important to the people whether it was back in the 1500’s or now in the 21st century, theater is still a huge impact on daily life.
