I am always looking ahead and planning for the future. I expect excellence from myself and I thrive to be better everyday for the people around me or my teammates on the basketball court. This is why I set goals for myself daily, to inspire people in the world, to make an impact, and finding a job in the future to pursue. These are all my goals that I want to achieve and college will play a huge part in this. College will give me the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and meet new people, finding what to major in, and participating in clubs and organizations with multiple people. Receiving merit is a reward because of my academic effort, volunteering around the community, and athletic achievement but it means a lot more to me. One of the proudest accomplishments of my life was earning my high school diploma, despite all the hard work that led me where I am today was well worth it. My purpose and goals in attending college is to make something of my life. It is a good thing. No one wants to be a nobody. Going to college does not just mean getting an education, to me it means succeeding to a level of learning where I can make something of myself and be proud of it. People say they want to attend college because they just want a good paying job, but that really doesn’t mean anything. Colleges are institutions of higher learning; I would go to college simply to make more money. College could be described as a rite of passage, where future working men and women step out from sheltered childhood lives into an independent place of learning. It is different from the original schooling most children receive as there is a more in-depth workload that requires more studying. College will change my life as I am open to many fields of study, expanding my mind and giving a glimpse of what to expect when I step out into the working world. Flexibility with learning and providing me with the option to choose what interests me, being treated as an adult by taking responsibility for one’s own actions and making your own decisions is all part of the college experience.
Attending college has helped me see the right benefits that will help me achieve my ultimate dream goals. First of all, I want to be able to learn how to relate to different cultures, ethnicities, and personalities, and also be able to understand different backgrounds, the way people from diverse culture think and act and their lifestyles; In addition, I want to learn how to adapt to new situations including dealing with responsibilities such as using Blackboard and making sure that all my assignments are completed and submitted on time. Furthermore, I will have to learn how to adapt to being an adult and taking care of my own needs.
College is the main goal of my life. It is a life dream to go to college to get a degree and get a successful job. Everything that I have done until this point is to get to college. During my senior year I plan to apply to many colleges and to take the SAT's to get into college. My GPA and SAT scores will be crucial for me to get into college. With college I will further my business career, making more successful in the field I enjoy doing.
From my college experience, I hope to gain many things. Obviously college is a time that students can truly become individuals. When I attend college I will have the opportunity to become more independent and to take on new responsibilities. I have always relied on my parents for support, but at college I will be on my own and will have to push myself harder. This will help me to become more mature and will help me grow in character. Though I have had my share of staying a country alone with just my grandma who stays in her house all day, I believe college will give me a better judgement on how I should expect the adult life to be. Especially with matters like money management and how I should react to more mature situations, college is great outlet to teach me such subjects. Though my parents are great resources, having more references, especially people who are higher educated, will be a huge benefit. Not only that, I will be able to meet an extensive mix of people with different backgrounds, experiences, and opinions which will surely make myself more empathetic to the people I will meet as I grow older and travel away from Kansas. College is going to start my own life on a foot that is ready to leap because my career is going to take off right out of the gate. All-in-all I’m going to college for three main reasons. My immediate family is a reason because I want them to be proud of me for doing something right for once. My future family is also one because it’s a big part of my life that I want to be happy and always feel comfortable. Finally for my personal financial well-being, so I can be able to treat myself to all the luxuries I want for myself. Going back to line one, all of these things are a part of my future. Isn’t that what college is for after all, to prepare people for their own futures and what they bring? A university is not my future, it’s only the beginning of it.
