Inside and outside of school I pursue passions that peak my interest and thus give me motivation to follow them. These motivations have lead me to place the Air Force Academy as one of my top picks for schools and careers in the future. What I feel that I could uniquely bring is that I have a persistent passion for space exploration, unique hobbies, and a constantly analyzing global affairs. All through my life I have been interested in space exploration. In high school I began to teach myself related physics and mathematics topics before I got access to the class. I keep in touch will all current advancements and breakthroughs in space exploration. I took upon several projects dealing with the field, such as research in recent technologies that resulted in my patent “Rocket Bipropellant Systems”. I was motivated to make this patent because it set a clear goal for my passion, so I pursued it for sense of enjoyment and accomplishment. The Air Force Academy will give me an opportunity to continue this passion in research, practice, or exposure, something that I believe will result in me helping create a successful and motivated environment for those around me who share similar passions at the …show more content…
But more importantly to me is my ability to share these hobbies. No place have I been able to express this more than at my Boy Scout troop. I helped set up or initiated Nordic ski trips, backpacking trips, observatory trips, or taught some astrophotography, all of these are hobbies I pursue alone, but I gladly share them with others. Seeing the Air Force Academy's extensive list of similar clubs, I believe attendance to the academy will give me great opportunity to share or express my hobbies with fellow cadets, giving me an opportunity to lead, organize, do something I love, and gain invaluable experience that will help me and others in an Air Force
Clubs were a great way for me to expand my interests outside of athletics. I was involved in Key Club and FCA freshman year and I enjoyed meeting new people and making a difference in our community. I was inducted a member of NHS junior year and this was a great way to make service a priority.
I had to pass jump school to attend Special Forces school where I had a slot waiting for me. I wanted to be a Special Forces ambassador in uniform so I could represent my country abroad. Special Forces trains a host nations military by teaching it essential skills. I wanted as many overseas assignments as I could get. My respect for Special Forces and my desire to be part of this elite group gave me my motivation to continue and never give up. I wanted to be in one of America’s best units.
Since my first visit at the Air Force Academy as a young boy, I instantly realized this is where I want to go. Ironically, I never why I wanted to go, was it my parents will or the expectations of others and myself? As I started to mature and grow, I learned more about the academy and what it really meant to become a cadet. The opportunity to have a world class education pushed me to pursue acceptance to the Academy. Going to the Summer Seminar will give me a chance to explore many aspects of cadet life to further enrich my interest in the Academy.
Quickly, I make my way to the waiting Blackhawk helicopter. Even with my full combat load strapped to my back the rotor wash threatens to push me over. My face is pelted with grass and other debris; motivation and determination makes me run harder. As I reach the Blackhawk the Black-shirt directs me to one of four repel lines anchored to the aircraft. I wrap the line through my d-ring and climb into the cabin. I wait, crouched in the doorway, for my three other comrades to finish their hookup. The Black-shirt completes his check of our hookups and gives the pilot the thumbs-up. Abruptly, the helicopter lifts into the air leaving my stomach somewhere below.
One extracurricular activity that I am very passionate about would be the FFA. FFA has taught me so many things and it has brought me so many places. I 've learned how to be a great speaker from different events my advisor has challenged me to do. Public speaking has taken me so many places and I have attributed most of my success to FFA. When I was a freshmen I competed and received gold in the creed speaking competition. As a sophomore, I tried extemporaneous speaking and received a gold for that as well. As a junior I really wanted to challenge myself so I took up agricultural sales as my winter career development experience. I ended up being recognized as the state runner up individual agriculture salesman as well as the 15th best agricultural sales man in the nation. Now as a senior, I have been going around speaking at different school board meetings, advocating
My initial reason to enter the Air Force was a great way to pay for college which turned into a call of duty and a service commitment which has actively allowed me to contribute to the Air Force mission. Thus far I have led a joint force search and rescue effort and a multinational exercise to preserve freedom. As an F-15E instructor WSO and combat mission ready WSO I actively contribute to ensure our freedoms are preserved and the attacks of September 11, 2001 will never happen again.
Although I am a fairly well-rounded student outside of school, I focus on the passions I am adept at: art and music. Creativity and thinking outside the box are skills that I have possessed and have developed over the years. It gives me great joy when I use my artistic and musical talents for the benefit of others, such as playing the piano and violin at a dinner honoring senior citizens or drawing pictures for young children at a Bible camp. Their smiles in appreciation of my service are priceless. My drive for excellence in my passions show that I give one hundred percent in all that I
One of the main reasons I was inspired to participate was because of the benefits it provided for the students. This particular institute focused on engineering. Not only do I have a passion for reading and writing but I am fortunate enough to also be good at math and science. What I learned from the program was career exploration when
In college, I will also be exposed to new clubs and activities. I feel that club and after school activities can make a person more involved and give a person the right qualities to become a leader. Involvement in extra events has provided a balance for rigorous course study. With the pressures that college brings, I will probably want to be involved in many groups.
I have dreamed of attending the Air Force Academy since my first visit in the sixth grade, from that moment I have devoted myself to qualify for an appointment. Out of the many candidates applying to Air Force Academy I stand out due to my drive for excellence in everything I do. Attending Summer Seminar at the Air Force Academy was a big eye opener for me, for the first time I was given an insight of cadet life. It was
The day of my high school graduation, many students walked the stage and gathered their diploma with their future college on their mind. I gathered mine with the idea of joining the United States Army. I knew by the “Be All You Can Be” commercials that I could experience great thing influenced by world travel, influential people, and learn a great deal of working knowledge all while defending my country in the United States
Throughout my life there has been many events that have shaped the way I am. The one event that had the greatest impact and has been constant is my military career. Since I joined the military I have changed roles, conformed to new norms, and learned new values. Like most service members the parts that shape your military career is the beginning, so as a focus I will look at my basic training, technical school and first duty station which these three combined events in my life has shaped the last 14 years. Through these phases in my life I have learned a lot about the military society, society in the United States, the world and of course me.
I 'm involved in numerous extracurricular activities that will help me achieve my goals. For example, I am the current treasurer of (FBLA) The Future Business Leaders of America, Member of (DECA) it 's an international association for marketing that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in finance, hospitality and management. Additionally, I am an active member with Upstanders, a club that stands up against bullying and hate; (ASA) The African Student Association and the National Art Honor Society. I am also on the football and track teams. Track is a very competitive sport; it teaches me to endure and prepare me for the competitive real world. All of these extra-curricular activities are preparing me for future obstacles on my collegiate
A liking for science, and a passion towards technology enabled me to choose Earth Science as a profession. From a very younger age I became very passionate about the day to day marvels of science happened around this curiosity of mine eventually was discovered by my teachers and to have a better understanding on every day science I took science subjects in my O and A levels.
I knew that in order to become a pilot you definitely needed to know how to fly a plane, and to get an internship with an airliner you need to have the grades; however, I never considered taking into account getting involved with the community and the aviation program in order to make your resume stand out. Every guest speaker and alumni pilots of the aviation program talked about how getting they got involved with programs like SAC, NIFA, or just helping out with aviation events really helped them get a job with an airliner since it was another item they could add to their resume. As the semester continued I decided that it would be a huge resume builder to join a few of these organizations like SAC and even getting to help with the aviation festival because it was rewarding to see how much kids loved airplanes and how one day they would become a pilot so it reminded me a lot of me when I was a young boy. Also joining SAC this year was incredible since I got to meet so many new people in the aviation program as well as going down to Dallas to see the American Airlines training center since one of my possible goals is to work for American Airlines one day, but also getting my name out to recruiters and hearing them say that they will be scouting me shortly made me literally almost pass out and getting to represent the aviation department was worth every
