As a take one more step into becoming a strong and educated individual, I will always live by the motto “You were put on this earth to achieve your greatest self. I have decided to continue as a full-time student every semester until I have reached this goal. This personal goal will aid in reaching my second goal which is my professional goal of starting my own healthcare company and or obtain a position in an already established healthcare business. This will not only assist me in reaching just one goal but resulting in gaining the opportunity of having a top notch experience of achieving a position in the healthcare field as an executive. Healthcare is a field where individuals like myself are in great demand. As such, working for an already developed corporation is a way of using the knowledge and skills I have obtained over the years to be a great beneficial addition to their teams and businesses. When it comes to the world of work, I ensure that I strive to be in a leadership position. In my opinion great leaders are people who motivate, empower and who are willing to compromise. On a daily basis I am told that I possess the personality of a great leader and I strongly believe so. Anatole France once stated, “To accomplish great things, you must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe.” I believe that my life of nursing and will research start in Baltimore, Maryland at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. I believe a whole new world will be open to me because I decided to live the life of bettering the lives of others. Similarly, to my mentor Zwade Marshall, I want to do so much for my community by using the greatest tools, which are education and medicine. I know that a graduate degree and research is not the last step. Then again I know that the University of Maryland is the greatest place to start.
I have always admired people with good leadership. The ability to influence others positively is something I respect. I have leadership experiences myself with sports teams and helping younger kids, but I witness leadership every day. Whether it’s seeing someone promote a school event or just being happy that day. Being able to inspire others gives me an incredible feeling because I know important it really is to be a leader.
My courses and experience has empowered, and has reinforced my determination to pursue a career as a nurse. I am eager and excited about starting nursing school, and having my dream which started as a young girl to come full circle. I am convinced I am a good candidate because I have the innate drive to complete the program. I am willing to learn and use those skills and knowledge acquired to provide something meaningful to the society and humanity. After going through a lot of trial and error in my career, I have decided that I want to pursue being a Registered Nurse. Many things have led me to this career choice, including personal and financial gain. I have tried many other occupations and educational programs and none of them have fulfilled me like I believe nursing will. Leaders come forth depending on the kind of situation, in which they are need. This type of leadership is typically known as “situational leadership,” where the key concept is every situation is different, so each situation requires a specific, unique leader. For a person to be a great leader, one does not have to necessarily assume a “bossy” persona, which is stereotypically characterized with all leaders, but being a leader based on listening. Being this background leader is known to many as, “servant leadership.” Servant and situational leadership is how I can characterize my leadership style so far since I have joined the student leadership community at Hillwood High School.
Moreover, I do like to work in a place where residents and staff are satisfied with the facility. Working in long-term care industry is where my heart belongs. After I finished high school in 2010, I wanted to go collage, but I did not know what major I could choose. I met with an advisor and talk a little bit about what I like to do and my favorite subjects. We concluded that health care field may be a good place for me to work.

My studies of Bachelor Degree in nursing will provide the knowledge I need to be successful in my nursing career. In my previous experience in college, I learned basic knowledge and the necessary skills to work in a healthcare environment as a nurse. A nurse has a lot of specialties, each with its own challenges and achievements. For example, while I was in my internships for registered nurse, I discovered that I love to work with elderly people. Then, I choose to work in home health care, to provide professional and emotional support for those who care for us for many years and now need our understanding, love, and excellent patient care. My first experience was to work in a nursing home, assists patients with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transfers and ambulation, some of the fundamental tasks a nurse must know. Even though I confessed I was nervous because my professor was beside me evaluating my basic nursing techniques, I enjoyed the fact that I was helping the patient to feel comfortable and secure with my care. Later, during my nursing career I felt confident about my performance as a nurse. I learned that one

I really enjoyed the McKinsey Quarterly leadership model and found its dimensions very self rewarding and self teaching. The first dimension being to find personal strengths and putting those strengths to use for an inspiring purpose. I learned through this dimension that my strengths can be put into use that will not only benefit me but also those around me. I realized that I am good at sympathizing with others which I view as a strength because it helps me understand people that might look complicated to others. I grew up watching the Lion King movie as a kid, and as I grew older I learned to understand the values behind the movie. Everybody has their own interpretation of the message Lion King delivers to them. I learned how the movie impacted society in all positive ways through its cultural or religious themes, however it depends on how you yourself grasp the concept. I learned that we are put on this earth for a reason, and everybody has a purpose. I have learned that we choose to fulfill or take the route for what is best to fulfill this purpose is entirely up to you. It may take time to perfect it, but it is yours to claim.
