After taking almost a year and a half break from school, I am ready to earn my MBA in health care management. I’m very excited to embark on this journey. Earning my master’s degree will provide me with sense of pride and self worth. I plan to use my master's degree to help me pursue a career in health care management. I’m motivated to become a health care manager for numerous reasons. Becoming a health care manager would permit me to achieve my career/education goals, permit me to do something I’m passionate about and allow me to impact many lives. As a role model for my child, I felt this was an important goal to accomplish. Overcoming many obstacles I was able to complete my bachelor’s degree in June of 2014. Finishing my bachelor’s degree in health service administration was a major accomplishment for me and something that I'm proud of. After completing this goal, I felt motivated to continue with my education. I made a personal goal to obtain my master’s degree before the age of thirty. Also, I ‘m made a goal to find a career that I was passionate about. Subsequently, I started researching how I could accomplish my two new goals. While researching career and options, I discovered health care management. After my research, I realized that as a health care manger, I would still be able to help others. Which is an important factor in my career choice. Health care managers are just as vitals as doctors, nurse and other clinical professionals. At that point, I knew this was the career for me. Since a young age, I always felt inclined towards pursuing a career in the health care field; daydreaming about myself working at a clinic or hospital and making a positive impact on someone’s life. When I started college, I decided to major in Biology and explored the different career options the health field had to offer me by shadowing dietitians, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare workers to find my ideal job.

It has taken me a long time to come to this point but I am now sure of what I want to do, and what I need to do to achieve my goals. That is why healthcare professionals has to commit to education. The purpose of the knowledge should bring us to the humble desire to serve our patients whatever the level of education we acquire. In the quest for knowledge caring is a central importance in our practice. The devotion to help others with compassion is what nursing is all about, When I was in school for my associates I never forgot what one of the teachers who had a PHD in nursing said to me when I asked her why she did not become a physician, she said nursing is a calling and that was mine, I knew then having a higher education did not make her a better nurse, she was a great nurse. She helped us cultivate a caring attitude in nursing education. Personally one specific goal for growth I would like to reach would be to help my community. Becoming a single mother, shortly before my son turned two-years-old, was life altering. Moving back in with my family, realizing I had no income, and no longer the team effort from his father, was an indescribable sense of failure as a parent. Obtaining my masters degree in Health Care Leadership from the University of Denver is my way to correct that, and properly fulfill my role and obligations of being a single mother to a remarkable little five-year-old.
