My desire to become a nurse comes from my natural ability to thrive in a stressful, demanding, fast-paced environment. Nursing became an interest because of the medical aspect, and it would really make me feel good to know that I had a part in helping people in some way. My conviction that nursing was my calling was affirmed daily in my work. Then, as now, I am ever amazed at the profound impact we, as nurses, have on the lives of our patients.By this time, I had been a nurse for three years and had developed a clear picture of what I wanted professionally. I knew that to achieve to my professional goals of practicing at the level I desired, while serving others in the community, I needed to become a Nurse Practitioner. I believe that nurses are trained to be more holistic in their practice. We are not trained to simply observe physical changes or problems. Nevertheless, we will see a patient every day, we will talk to them, advocate, delegate and give them a proper care. Learning is something that never ends. I like learning new skills and applying what I’ve learned to better myself. By earning a Master's Degree I aim to challenge myself further by encountering new experiences that would not only enhance my education, but also professional development. The Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree that I would like to pursue is Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. In this role I will be able to care for the adults in terms of wellness, acute and chronic illnesses, and different variations of presenting symptoms & treatment
