On Wednesday nights I sing in the praise band at my church and it really makes me angry when people do not take worship time seriously, also it makes me feel as if I am not doing good enough. In the future, I believe I can calm this anger by giving it all to God and not pay attention to the nonsense around me. Another situation I get angry in is when I am up to bat at a softball game and I strike out, I believe in the future I can focus on the game and think about my team instead of how I am doing.
I'm in the band. No, scratch that; I'm more than just in the band. I am the band. Unless, of course, that makes me sound conceited. In which case, I describe myself as an integral component to the marching band. The band would never be the same without me! I admit it: I'm a band nerd, a music nut, and a clarinet geek. You can describe me with whatever phrase you want. Regardless of how you look at it, I'll always be a band geek, and I'm proud of it!
In real life we don't really hear gods talking to us in the ocean telling us that we have angered them. We have husbands/wives, boyfriends/girlfriends, to tell us that we have gotten on their nerves or just done something completely wrong! Relationship now and days aren't the same as they used to be.

When angry, it is hard for a person to see the damage they are doing. Concepts of revenge, murder, jealousy, greed, selfishness, rage, resentment, and hatred are all offspring to what anger can become if allowed to grow (Potter-Efron, 2). In some cases, anger is the result of feelings of helplessness and a desire to regain power in life (Glick and Steven, 103). Anger is not completely evil, but there are dire consequences if we let ourselves be corrupted by its influence. On Wednesday, May 23rd, I attended the College Choir concert in the Reamer Campus Center. The choir performed a variety of songs, ranging from pieces in Latin to traditional American folksongs. Two of the pieces featured solos, and one even featured percussion instruments. Mrs. Elinore Farnum provided piano accompaniment for each of the songs, and performed beautifully. I was extremely impressed by the talented choir members and their ability to sing such a varied range of songs.
People who chronically suppress their anger carry certain characteristics to their personality. They tend to have at least one addictive behavior, such as gambling, drinking, drugs, etc. They tend to be moody and cope with their moodiness by trying to feel happy, and also try to be around other people who they believe are happy. They try to keep their inner struggle with anger out of their awareness, as well as away from other people’s awareness. This struggle is a constant struggle and so the need to suppress their feelings and redirect their attention is also constant and tends to be impulsive, rising and falling with the tides of their inner struggle. One event that led me to realize a new awareness about myself was that I was ungrateful would be volunteering on thanksgiving. I was so use to getting food and not thinking about the people that don’t have food that my aunt realized and decided to make me feed food to the poor on thanksgiving. My aunt told me that I laugh and joke around a lot about getting food and sometimes wasting food that I need to see how people who don’t have food are very grateful to have it. I guess it was true but, I always thought god knew I was thankful for my food. At first I said to myself “ ugh” then I rrealized that maybe this we be good for me.

Right after getting mad, my reasoning doesn’t kick in. It usually takes ranting to someone and about an hour before I realize the reason they might have done it, or figure out that it really wasn’t that bad. After that, it usually takes a day or two before I fully let it go. To solve this, I think I need to take a couple of really good breathes and just close my eyes for a minute and think of things I love and just calm down before I make rash decisions that make me feel disappointed in myself
This can either be a positive or negative thing and how you act on it, or do not act, can show how in control and effective you are with your feelings. According to the text, “just because you feel a certain way does not mean you have to act on it” and that “people who act out angry feelings actually feel worse than those who experience anger without lashing out” (Adler, Rosenfeld, Proctor II, year?). Even though acting on your feelings may seem uncontrollable, it is important to deal with them in a different and more productive way. Recognizing how you feel and using the right approach during a constructive conversation is always better than quickly lashing out without completely understanding the situation or how you feel besides angry. Furthermore, “recognizing the difference between feeling and acting can liberate you from the fear that getting in touch with certain emotions will commit you to a course of action” (Adler, Rosenfeld, Proctor II, year?). Understanding your emotions is important so that you will be able to experience feelings that may upset you and still be able to deal with them from a positive standpoint. After the birth of my first child, I had to learn to develop constructive ways to vent anger. One of those ways was to go off alone, count to ten, and think about what it was that made me angry. After I discovered the root of my anger, I often asked myself, "Will it do me or anyone else any good to be angry?", and, "Will being angry do anything to solve the problem", and the answer to both questions was usually no. By the time I had done the walking and thinking, I was usually not angry anymore.
